At K.O. University, Setsuna and her professor are discussing readings indicating strange spatial distortions around the Sankakusu where Mugen Academy is located. Reika peeks inside to ask if Setsuna wants to join her for dinner, but Setsuna politely refuses. Motoki exclaims over all the plants in the lab, noting that "Mako-chan" would like it, and Reika demands to know who this "Mako-chan" is.
On the train, Motoki and Reika discuss Setsuna and her research, and Reika mentions they were studying the Sankakusu. Motoki suggests to Reika that they go to the Sankakusu for dinner, but when she sees the dark clouds hovering over the delta she seems uncomfortable and refuses, saying that it looks too ominous.
At the Tomoe Research Laboratory, Professor Tomoe watches another Daimon experiment fail. Kaolinite tells him that it is time, and the two of them go to speak to Pharaoh 90. He tells them the Taioron Crystal is weakening, and asks about their progress. Kaolinite apologizes and promises to gather more Hoste. Professor Tomoe talks about his attempts to create complete Daimons, and mentions the interference of the Sailor Senshi. Pharaoh 90 observes that Sailor Moon's power is similar to the light of their Taioron Crystal, but that the light that heralds their destruction is also coming. Kaolinite silently wonders if the light he speaks of might be the Talismans. Pharaoh 90 orders them to clear away obstacles and take Sailor Moon's power so that they can destroy the Sailor Senshi and humanity, making the Earth their new home. After they leave, Kaolinite goes to her pool and contacts Tellu, who promises to succeed where the others have failed.
At school, Chibiusa's teacher tells the class that they should give their clay sculptures to someone special to them. Momoko says she'll give hers to her mother as a birthday gift. Kyuusuke gives his Sailor Moon pen holder to Chibiusa and tells her it is a token of friendship, which gives her the idea to give her Holy Grail sculpture to her friend, Hotaru.
As Hotaru is walking through the lobby of Mugen Academy, several classmates watch and mock her. She drops to her knees suddenly, clutching at her chest, and her books fall to the ground. One of the girls "accidentally" steps on her pencil case as Hotaru reaches for it, and Hotaru glares at them, her eyes flashing with a strange light as she crumples the metal case in one hand before walking away. The girls stare after her, suddenly frightened.
Usagi stares out the window at her school, looking depressed. Makoto and Ami come up to talk to her, and she says that she wants to speak to Haruka and Michiru, because if they're all Sailor Senshi they should be able to work together and not fight. She gets upset when Makoto and Ami don't seem to care, but Ami tells her that they should only do what they can for now.
In the school greenhouse, Makoto's classmate observes that ever since she joined the gardening club, the plants have all been thriving. He asks what her favorite flower is, and she says it is sasanqua (because it reminds her of her senpai). He tells her about Telluns, a popular new flower developed at Mugen Botanical Garden, that can grow without water.
The girls meet at the Secret Base and discuss the fact that the Death Busters are headquartered at Mugen Academy. Luna says they've detected strange energies around Mugenzu, and they wonder if Professor Tomoe, the owner of the school, is also an enemy. Usagi realizes that Hotaru is his daughter and worries if it's safe for Chibiusa to be with her.
As the girls leave, they pass a flower shop and see a display of Telluns, and Makoto buys one. As they walk away from the shop she looks at the card on the plant and notices that it was developed by Ruru Teruno, a student at Mugen Academy. Behind them, Setsuna pauses to look at the same display of Telluns.
When Usagi arrives home, she finds Chibiusa leaving to visit Hotaru, and Usagi insists on going with her.
The two of them arrive at the lab, and are confronted by Kaolinite, who accuses them of trespassing. Hotaru arrives and says they are her guests, and Kaolinite watches them go with a frown. Once in Hotaru's room, Chibiusa offers her the Grail sculpture she made, saying she was supposed to give it to someone important to her, and she wants Hotaru to have it as a sign of friendship. Usagi asks if it's okay not to give it to Mamoru, and Chibiusa replies that since both Usagi and Mamoru helped make it, giving it only to Mamoru wouldn't be fair to Usagi. Hotaru refuses the gift, saying that since it was made by people she loves it wouldn't be right for her to keep it, and tells Chibiusa to keep it for herself, though she appreciates the thought. As she looks at the younger girl, Usagi thinks that it feels as though she's being drawn into Hotaru's eyes, as though she knows everything.
Usagi excuses herself for a minute to use the bathroom, and after she leaves the room Hotaru drops to her knees, overcome by another of her fits. As Chibiusa moves toward her, concerned, Hotaru reaches for her brooch, saying that the power in her amulet makes her feel better. She asks what power it is, and Chibiusa says that it is the Silver Crystal. Hotaru repeats the words, her voice overlaid with a strange tone, and then draws back suddenly, frightened that it felt like someone else was inside her, wanting to take the amulet.
Kaolinite stands outside in the hallway, listening to the conversation.
Usagi gets lost on the way back to Hotaru's room and, glancing out the window, sees Mugen Academy next door. She wonders what they are researching at this lab, and is startled as someone touches her shoulder. Professor Tomoe leads her back to Hotaru's room and tells his daughter that it is time for her checkup. Usagi and Chibiusa excuse themselves, and as Chibiusa waves farewell to her friend, Usagi thinks that Professor Tomoe's hand was as hard and cold as ice, almost as though it weren't human. As they walk home, Chibiusa thinks she sees someone familiar in the crowd - but when she looks again, the woman has disappeared.
Minako visits Makoto at her apartment, and Makoto comments that her plants haven't been doing well lately. After they sit down for tea, the two of them suddenly feel sleepy and doze off. Makoto is shaken from a dream of her senpai by Minako, who shows her that the Tellun has bloomed, but all the other plants have withered. Makoto grabs a knife and chops the Tellun in half, and it releases a cloud of gas.
Usagi looks at a map of the Sankakusu, noting that two of the three zones are called the Kaiouzu and Tenouzu, the same as Michiru and Haruka's family names. The others find her there and tell her they are going to the botanical gardens at Mugen Academy to investigate enemy activity. Before they can go, however, Usagi sees Haruka and Michiru ahead of them; when she calls after them they turn and run away, and Usagi gives chase.
Usagi follows to Haruka's apartment and stands outside the door, calling to Haruka and asking her to fight with them, as a fellow Sailor Senshi. Haruka stands just inside the door, listening, but does not answer. Once she's outside again, Usagi's friends find her and say that they need to stop their enemy.
The girls arrive at the greenhouse at Mugen Academy, and there find a veritable jungle of Telluns in bloom with numerous people collapsed on the ground. They begin to feel their own strength being drained, drawn up toward a massive black star on the roof of the greenhouse. Tellu arrives and gloats that the Sailor Senshi have fallen into her trap, and that she will surely be given the position of Magus like Kaolinite after she offers Pharaoh 90 the Hoste drained away by her Telluns.
Setsuna lies collapsed on the ground, with a Tellun blooming nearby. In their apartments, Haruka and Michiru sense someone close to them is in danger. Setsuna feels her strength draining away and wonders if she will die like this, but only a moment later realizes that she must remember the reason she was reborn. The Uranus symbol appears on Haruka's forehead, then the Neptune symbol on Michiru's, and as a voice commands her to awaken, for the time has come, the Pluto symbol appears on Setsuna's forehead.
Flower petals swirl in a sudden torrent of wind around Mamoru, and he senses that somewhere, something has awakened.
The Inner Senshi transform and face off against Tellu. Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Mercury combine Mars Snake Fire, Venus Wink Chain Sword, and Mercury Aqua Mirage, but Tellu easily evades their attack and uses Mandragora Buster in return. Sailor Jupiter attacks with Jupiter Coconut Cyclone, but Tellu only brushes it away. When Sailor Moon tries to use Moon Spiral Heart Attack, Tellu laughs and absorbs the power with one hand. Sailor Chibi Moon prays for the power to help the others, and Luna P appears and transforms into her own Moon Rod. She feels a new power within her, and uses the wand to attack Tellu with Pink Sugar Heart Attack. Tellu again absorbs the energy of the attack, then transforms into a monstrous creature and lunges at Chibi Moon. Tuxedo Mask bursts through the glass of the greenhouse, calling out to Sailor Chibi Moon but moving too slow to save her, and Tellu is suddenly blasted into oblivion by Dead Scream.
Stunned, everyone turns to find Sailor Pluto standing there.
