Chibiusa invites Hotaru to a show at the planetarium, while Mimete plans to steal the Pure Heart Crystal of the DJ Thomas Harris.
Summary[edit]
Rei is running through her apocalyptic nightmare, which is becoming stronger and clearer now. A woman's figure appears, and Rei asks if she is the Messiah, and begs her to save everyone. The figure raises a long, scythe-like weapon and leaps toward Rei as she brings the scythe down.
The girls are studying at Hikawa Shrine when Chibiusa arrives to ask a favor. She wants to take Hotaru to a new planetarium that has just opened, where Thomas Harris, a famous DJ, will be narrating the program. Everyone agrees it's a wonderful idea. Minako wonders why the Outer Senshi are keeping such a close eye on Hotaru. Rei begins to see a similarity between Hotaru and the face of the figure in her nightmare. She brushes it off, but as Chibiusa hits up Usagi for the admission fee to the planetarium, her sense of foreboding builds.
Atop a high rise building, the Outer Senshi are also discussing Hotaru. Michiru is seeing the same dream as Rei, and she too has noticed the scythe-like weapon held by the figure in her dream. When she describes it, they realize it must be the Silence Glaive, which means that the "Senshi of Ruin" is the one in the dream, and that it may be too late to save the Earth. Haruka is determined that must not happen, and is prepared to strike before she awakens.
Professor Tomoe is having an audience with the Messiah of Silence. She tells him that her time is fast approaching. Tomoe remarks that they were wise to choose "her." She tells him to be of use to her, and bring her the Pure Hearts she needs to awaken. Tomoe calls Mimete and tells her to proceed with her next mission. Mimete, looking at a flier about the planetarium, asks if he likes the stars; he replies in the affirmative, then starts to laugh hysterically as he glances at a strange device next to him in his lab.
The next day, as Hotaru is going home from school, she finds Chibiusa waiting for her along the way. Chibiusa asks if she wants to go to the planetarium, and though Hotaru is reluctant at first and wants to check with her father to make sure it is okay, she finally agrees. Inside the planetarium, Thomas Harris narrates the show, telling the various myths about the constellations. Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna notice that Mimete is present, as well as Usagi's group and Hotaru. Haruka is pleased, since an attack right now might force Hotaru to reveal what she really is.
Usagi notices Setsuna standing at the door of the auditorium, and she and the Inner Senshi go to meet with her in an exhibit room. She feels that they can no longer withhold the truth from the Inner Senshi, and tells them that the enemy is a group from outer space called the Death Busters. The Outer Senshi are trying to prevent the approaching Silence from destroying the world. Using the Garnet Orb, Setsuna shows the Inner Senshi the dream Rei has been seeing. They see the figure of the woman with the scythe, and Setsuna tells them the she is the warrior who must not awaken, for she appears only when everything is to be destroyed, and that they will soon see who this person is.
Back in the auditorium, Mimete has unleashed her Daimon, U-Chouten. Mimete tries to get Thomas Harris' autograph, but he refuses and she clears the audience out by using Charm Buster. Hotaru starts to have one of her seizures, and when Chibiusa goes to get help she is stopped by Sailor Uranus, who wants to watch Hotaru to see what happens. Sailor Moon and the Sailor Team arrive to deal with Mimete and the Daimon. U-Chouten tries to take the DJ’s Pure Heart Crystal, but Mimete tells her to get rid of the Senshi first. The Daimon attacks, but is momentarily stopped by Tuxedo Mask. She renews the attack, and Hotaru is struck. Hotaru is suddenly surrounded by a bright pink aura as the symbol of Saturn appears on her forehead. She glares at U-Chouten and the Daimon finds herself unable to move. Sailor Moon transforms into Super Sailor Moon and finishes the Daimon off with Rainbow Moon Heartache.
Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto attack Hotaru; Chibiusa jumps in front of Hotaru to shield her, and Sailor Moon pushes them out of the way just in time. The Inner Senshi demand an explanation, and the Outer Senshi reply that Hotaru is Sailor Saturn, who only awakens when the world is about to end. They want to prevent her awakening by killing Hotaru. The Inner Senshi insist that there must be some other way, and the Outer Senshi say that this is why the two groups could not work together. As the two groups argue, Hotaru suddenly disappears.
Hotaru reappears in her bed at home, still unconscious. Kaolinite stands by her bed and remarks that Hotaru is a very bad girl not to come straight home. Down in his basement laboratory, Professor Tomoe explains to Pharaoh 90 that they could not have chosen a better candidate for their Messiah of Silence than the Senshi of Destruction, Sailor Saturn.
Episode trivia[edit]
- This episode included the first mention of Pharaoh 90.
- During Rei's nightmare at the beginning of the episode, when the camera focused on the mysterious woman, the Death tarot card was briefly visible on the screen.
- Machiko Toyoshima appeared in this episode as the voice of an unnamed girl, but she would later go on to play a more significant role in Sailor Moon SuperS as PallaPalla, while Ikue Ohtani, the voice of the Daimon U-Chouten, would later play Sailor Tin Nyanko in Stars.
- When Mimete asked him if he liked the stars, Professor Tomoe replied, "'The stars know all'... was something someone said before." This was a reference to a phrase Nephrite often said when selecting a target.
- In the German dub, he instead said there was a song called "A star knows all."
- Despite the fact that this was a crucial episode, this episode was left out of the initial run of the first English dub so that alterations could be made to Uchoten's costume. When the episode finally aired, most of the scenes in which she was throwing stars at people were also cut.
- The Thai dub also censored U-Chouten's outfit, but without cutting any scenes.
