Anime
In the anime, she posed as Chuuko Nezu ("Nezu" comes from the word "nezumi" (鼠), meaning "mouse"; "chuu" (ちゅう) is the sound of a mouse's squeak), a TV producer, and communicated with Sailor Galaxia via a telephone booth that would appear and disappear magically.
Her targets were usually people who were idols or had sort of celebrity status. She found no real Star Seeds, however, and the people she attacked all transformed into a Phage. Frightened by her repeated failures, she eventually stopped answering her phone, and ran away from it when it appeared near her. When she finally answered the phone in episode 181, Sailor Galaxia removed her bracelets, thus killing her.
Attacks
- Bracelets - Sailor Iron Mouse could fire blasts from her bracelets that would remove a person's Star Seed.
Manga
Sailor Iron Mouse made only a brief appearance in the manga, when she showed up at a joint concert between Michiru Kaiou and the Three Lights. She was pursuing the Three Lights at the time in order to steal their Sailor Crystals, but when she sensed the similar Crystals of seven of the Solar System Senshi in the room, she crashed the concert in order to steal them all. By firing energy beams at the stage and the innocent concert-goers, she hoped to lure the Senshi out of hiding, and thus forced the transformations of Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Neptune.
Sailor Jupiter was able to block Iron Mouse's unnamed energy beam attack, and Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune unleashed their Space Turbulence and Submarine Violon Tide attacks, respectively, against her. However, Sailor Iron Mouse blocked these attacks with her own Galactica Crunch, and might have done even more damage to the vulnerable Senshi, had Sailor Star Healer's Star Sensitive Inferno not turned her to dust.
Attacks
- Galactica Crunch - Sailor Iron Mouse's primary attack.
Crystal
Sailor Iron Mouse's appearance in Sailor Moon Cosmos was mostly identical to her manga appearance, but in the former continuity, she was accompanied by living computer mice with sharp-toothed mouths, which contributed to the mass hysteria at the Fantastic International Music Festival and were also summoned by Iron Mouse in her primary attack. Sailor Jupiter never tried to block her unnamed energy beam attack in that movie, and Iron Mouse's signature attack was not strong enough to withstand the combined assault from Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune's attacks.
Attacks
- Galactica Crunch - Sailor Iron Mouse's primary attack.
Musicals
Aki Kudou as Sailor Iron Mouse |
Sailor Iron Mouse appeared in several Sera Myu productions: the 1996 winter special Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and its 1997 winter revision, the 2003 summer special Starlights - Ryuusei Densetsu and its revision Kakyuu-Ouhi Kourin - The Second Stage Final, and Le Mouvement Final.
In Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, Sailor Iron Mouse was among the many minions of Galaxia sent to Earth to draw out and destroy the Sailor Senshi there. She performed in Juuban Municipal High School's musical festival while in disguise with her fellow Sailor Animamates. She was played by Chie Maruyama.
In Starlights - Ryuusei Densetsu and Kakyuu-Ouhi Kourin, Iron Mouse posed as a member of the Dancing Animamates, an "international dancing team." She went by the name "Chuu Rat" and called herself the top dancer. In those musicals she was the target of teasing, especially about the fact that she ended her sentence with "chuu," the sound of a mouse's squeak; the other characters said that it sounded like manjuu. She was played by Aki Kudou.
In Le Mouvement Final, she was played by Shion Aoki.
Trivia
- The telephone booth that Sailor Iron Mouse used in the anime was similar to the TARDIS, the spaceship/time machine belonging to the main character of the long-running British science fiction television show Doctor Who.
- Sailor Iron Mouse was the only character to be part of both the Dancing Animamates and the Chou Very Bad Mates in the musicals.
- In the manga and Sailor Moon Crystal, Sailor Iron Mouse used the term "Sailor Soldiers" (セーラーソルジャーズ) spoken in English to refer to the Inner Senshi instead of the synonymous "Sailor Senshi" (セーラー戦士), which was the term usually used in the Japanese versions of Sailor Moon.
- The English dub of Sailor Moon Cosmos changed it to the usual "Sailor Guardians" used as the translation of "Sailor Senshi" in all dubs provided by Viz Media.
- The translator's notes in the English Eternal Edition of the manga mentioned a supernatural creature from Japanese folklore called "Tesso," whose name literally translates to "iron mouse." This creature "summoned an army of rodents to attack," which became true of Sailor Iron Mouse as well when the animated version of her signature attack, Galactica Crunch, was first shown in Sailor Moon Cosmos.
