Kaguya Shima Densetsu was the second musical starring Fumina Hara as Sailor Moon. It was also the first musical to have a completely original story which was not based on a season of the anime or reusing old adversaries, and is often considered a landmark among the Sailor Moon musicals. Kaguya Shima Densetsu was also the first Sera Myu for many of its performers, since a very large part of the previous cast had left after the Shin Densetsu Kourin musical the year before.
This was the first musical for Hisano Akamine, Eri Kanda, Emi Kuriyama, Nao Inada, Seiko Nakazawa, Mao Mita, Hironari Amano, Miho Komiya, Nanami Ikeuchi, and Rika Kawai, and the final musical of Sara Shimada. It also marked the return of former Minako Aino/Sailor Venus actress Akiko Miyazawa as Bilhah Emerald.
The musical ran for 24 performances at Tokyo's Sunshine Theater in March 1999. It was released on VHS (both regular and preorder versions) and DVD. The soundtrack CD is Memorial Album of the Musical 7 - Kaguya Shima Densetsu.
Summary[edit]
In 3000 B.C. the personification of the comet Coatl, Dark Plasman, plotting to become a planet, suddenly appeared in the Solar System. The comet Coatl, which had already destroyed countless tiny planets, attacked the Earth.
Presented with a cataclysm of unbelievable scale, Earth's greatest empire, Artuka, called for the owner of the Silver Crystal of life and rebirth. Princess Moon lent her power to successfully change Earth's orbit, but although they escaped destruction, the change in gravity created a great flood, and all previous human civilization was destroyed.
It has been 5000 years since then. The comet Coatl has returned to the Solar System, and once again that eerie figure appears.
