The Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Mask pursue a fake Sailor Moon, only to fall into Zoisite and Kunzite's trap.

Summary[edit]

Zoisite proposes a plan to lure Tuxedo Mask out in order to steal his Rainbow Crystals. Queen Beryl warns him that this is his last chance. Kunzite appears, and offers to help Zoisite with his plan.

Later, Luna sees a news report saying that Sailor Moon foiled a bank robbery. Meanwhile, Usagi and Makoto are in town when the ropes holding up a platform carrying two window cleaners on a tall building are sliced by sharp crystals. Two of the ropes snap, leaving the men hanging. One of them falls, but is rescued by someone who appears to be Sailor Moon. Everyone is surprised, Usagi most of all. While Makoto wonders why someone would pose as Sailor Moon, Mamoru suspects that "Sailor Moon" was responsible for the collapse in the first place.

As the fake Sailor Moon flees, Kunzite watches, knowing that only the Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Mask will be able to follow her. Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Luna are lured into an industrial area, as is Mamoru. While there, the girls see the fake Sailor Moon suspended from a crane, with Kunzite nearby. They transform to face him.

Kunzite seals the Sailor Senshi in a black bubble that they are unable to break out of. He then begins contracting the bubble. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask sees the fake Sailor Moon hanging from the crane and rescues her, bringing her into a warehouse. She opens her eyes and stabs him with a shard of crystal, then removes her outfit to reveal Zoisite underneath. Zoisite and Tuxedo Mask battle, and Zoisite eventually forces Tuxedo Mask out into the open and knocks his mask away. Queen Beryl, watching the scene remotely, is shocked by Tuxedo Mask's true appearance. Zoisite is about to defeat his rival when he is hit by a powerful attack from a mysterious Sailor Senshi. Taking advantage of the distraction, Tuxedo Mask escapes.

Zoisite returns to Kunzite, who still has the Sailor Senshi trapped in the bubble. He calls to Tuxedo Mask, telling him that the Sailor Senshi will die if he does not hand over the Rainbow Crystals. Tuxedo Mask comes out, but the mysterious Senshi appears again and attacks Kunzite, disrupting his control of the bubble. The freed Senshi recognize their savior as Sailor V, or, as she introduces herself, Sailor Venus. She is also accompanied by her white cat, Artemis.

As Zoisite prepares to battle all five Senshi, he and Kunzite are called by Queen Beryl, who orders them to withdraw but refuses to explain why. They reluctantly disappear, while the injured Tuxedo Mask also slips away. Confronted with the strong and beautiful Sailor Venus, Sailor Moon asks her if she is the Moon Princess. Sailor Venus only smiles in response.

Episode trivia[edit]

  • This episode featured the first speaking appearance of Sailor Venus, and the first on-screen appearance of Artemis.
  • Shortly after Usagi's first whining episode, Minako and Artemis could be seen in the crowd watching Usagi.
  • This was the only time Zoisite wore a disguise in the anime.
  • This was the first of two times that someone masqueraded as Sailor Moon; the second time was in episode 102.
  • For the second time since his death, Nephrite appeared in a flashback, and Katsuji Mori was once again credited for the appearance. The flashback was cut out in the DiC English dub.
  • In the DiC dub, when Sailor Moon asked Sailor Venus if she was the Moon Princess, Venus replied "I don't know," though in the original she only smiled. The DiC dub also added dialogue when Zoycite was disguised as Sailor Moon; in the original, Zoisite did not speak while in disguise.
  • In the Korean dub, the original audio could be heard in some parts of this episode.
