Anime[edit]

Tiger's Eye in the anime

In the anime, Tiger's Eye was sent to find the Dream Mirror in which Pegasus was hiding, and preferred to target younger women in his search. His primary weapon was a whip.

When the Amazon Trio decided to give up the power that made them human in order to rebuild Usagi's destroyed Dream Mirror, Tiger's Eye reverted to his original form and died. Pegasus appeared then and restored the Trio, giving them their own Dream Mirrors so they could be truly human.

Manga[edit]

In the manga, Tiger's Eye was given human form and sent by the Amazoness Quartet to target Rei Hino. He trapped her within a house of mirrors and tried to use illusions on her, but Rei saw through it and banished him with an ofuda. PallaPalla sent him back to destroy the weakened Senshi, but he was held off by Phobos and Deimos long enough for Rei to transform into Sailor Mars and destroy him with Mars Flame Sniper.

Crystal[edit]

Tiger's Eye appeared in Sailor Moon Eternal as in the manga, but in that continuity he never reverted back to his original form during the battle with Sailor Mars.

Musicals[edit]

In the musicals, Tiger's Eye was played by Ryuuji Kasahara, Akihito Mimatsu, and Chihiro Ando. In Sailor Moon SuperS - Yume Senshi - Ai - Eien ni... and its revision, his personality was very similar to the one in the anime, in that he was somewhat obsessed with younger women. In Shin Densetsu Kourin, however, Akihito Mimatsu's portrayal of Tiger's Eye was more effeminate, similar to the manga version. In this musical, Tiger's Eye was referred to as an "okama" (御釜; cross-dresser/gay man) by several characters, including Chibi Chibi. He was also shown to be willing to kiss Fisheye when Hawk's Eye commanded them to (though Fisheye pushed Tiger's Eye away), and he had a love of gossip.

Trivia[edit]

  • Tiger's Eye is a variety of quartz, usually golden brown with stripes of lighter color across it.
  • In the anime, Tiger's Eye referred to all his Lemures with the suffix "-chan," which is an honorific often used to show affection or to address a younger girl.
  • When Tiger's Eye was in his original animal form in the manga or Sailor Moon Eternal, the Amazoness Quartet called him "Tora no me" (トラの目). It was pronounced the same as "虎の目," meaning "tiger's eye," but wasn't written with the kanji for "tiger." Although the Kodansha manga translated it as "Tiger's Eye," the Viz dub and subtitles in Sailor Moon Eternal did not translate the phrase.
  • According to Naoko Takeuchi's notes in the Materials Collection, he was an ambitious man whose dream was to become a rock artist and be world famous. His favorite phrase was "My dream is to be an artist," which he used once in the manga and repeatedly in Crystal.[1]
