Kakyuu-Ouhi Kourin was technically the Kaiteiban of the previous musical, but it also followed the Stars arc of the manga. It was strongly influenced by the earlier Eien Densetsu musicals, and incorporated several songs from them. Many fans do not consider it a true Kaiteiban because of the large number of plot and song changes.

This was the first musical of Moe Oosaki; the final musical of Momoko Shibuya, Asako Uchida, Tomoko Inami, Yuuko Hosaka, Yui Iizuka, Mina Horita, Chinatsu Akiyama, Mikako Tabe and Akiko Miyazawa; the only musical appearance of Ai Toyama; and marked the return of former CereCere actress Risa Honma as Sailor Mars.
