The moonbeam was an uncontrolled power which Chibiusa manifested in times of stress. She possessed this power because the Silver Crystal had been inadvertently absorbed into her body when she picked it up. When she was in danger or frightened, a crescent moon symbol would appear on her forehead and she would emit a strong burst of energy. As this power generally took the form of a column of light, the Black Moon Clan used it to locate her during the Sailor Moon R season of the anime.
