Naoko Takeuchi

Naoko Takeuchi (武内直子) is the manga writer and artist who created Sailor Moon and Codename: Sailor V. Her other series are Prism Time, Chocolate Christmas, Maria, The Cherry Project, Miss Rain, PQ Angels, Princess Naoko Takeuchi's Return-to-Society Punch!!, Toki*Meka, and Love Witch.

Personal Life

Her parents are named Kenji and Ikuko, and she has one sibling, a younger brother called Shingo (she named Usagi's immediate family after her own). She is married to Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter X Hunter, and they have a young son whom she refers to as "Petit Ouji" (プチ王子), which means "Small Prince," a reference to her husband's nickname. When drawing herself in her author notes sections and other places, she usually represents herself as a little bunny or sometimes as a human with rabbit ears, and she draws her husband as a dog, her son as a puppy, and her editor and friend Fumio "Osa-P" Osano as a pig.

Sailor Moon Career

As well as creating the Sailor Moon universe, she was responsible for writing the lyrics to several songs throughout the series. "Princess Moon," "Tuxedo Mirage," ""Rashiku" Ikimashou," and the "Sailor Star Song" had their lyrics written by her for the anime.

Current Career

Because of the dispute about PQ Angels losing seven pages of manuscript[1] and the refusal to release the Materials Collection, Takeuchi temporarily left Kodansha. She reported that she went on vacation, traveled the world, and did the Punch! series. She returned to Kodansha to do the one-shot Toki*Meka, then went on to do Love Witch. However, this did not continue when she helped with the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series. She returned to do Toki*Meca, which was based on the first one-shot, though it was a whole new series, and completed it. However, the second tankoubon has yet to be released. It is not known if it will be released in the future. Her last full manga release of tankoubon was Codename: Sailor V, which finished after Sailor Moon.

Recently, she has been spending time with her son and husband, and has co-released a children's book, Big Boomee and Little Boomee, with her husband. She is the writer and designer, and he is the illustrator of that book,[2] which was a birthday present to their son.
