Naru Osaka

The daughter of the owner of the Osa-P Jewelry Store and unfortunate friend to Tsukino Usagi. Her father doesn't seem to exist but in one occasion she has a younger sister Naruru Osaka.

Naru seems to have the supernatural power to attract any and every kind of supernatural creature to her. This includes youma, droids, Shitennou, and Senshi, among others. Despite the frequency of these encounters, she did not get much better at identifying supernatural beings before they reveal themselves. Only in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon did she ever learn Sailor Moon was, in fact, her closest friend, Usagi Tsukino. Though it should be noted that in both the Black Moon Clan arc of the manga and the corresponding R season of the anime Naru indicates that she is aware of the fact that Usagi is part of something "bigger" than her own (relatively) mundane existance.

Naru has the most romantic experience among all of the recurring Sailormoon characters. She fell in love with the Dark Kingdom Shitennou Nephrite and was involved with him until his untimely death. The class dork, Gurio Umino, eventually won her heart and she dated him through the remainder of the series.

North American Dub

In the English dub of Sailor Moon, Naru was renamed Molly Baker. Nothing very significant was changed from her Japanese character but many fans found her Boston accent irritating.

The Future

The last Naru was seen in the anime, she was in a long-term relationship with Gurio Umino. Most fans assume she eventually married him and settled down to a normal life. Based on her pattern of being at the center of most supernatural disasters in Japan, there is a good chance she was caught in the middle of whatever horrible disaster occured before the creation of Crystal Tokyo and may have died.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

The live action Naru began very similar to her anime self but over the course of the show developed into a different character. She became jealous of all of Usagi's new friends, the senshi's civilian forms, particularly Ami Mizuno. Late in the series she learned Usagi was also Sailor Moon and was injured indirectly during a battle by Princess Sailor Moon. She spent the remainder of the series recovering but forgave Usagi for keeping secrets from her and renewed their friendship.

In the brief glimpse shown of an alternate timeline in which Usagi and Mamoru never existed, in the final episode, Naru and Ami appeared to be close friends.

In Fandom

Fanfiction, with frequency, has chosen Naru to take the role of a new senshi when the author did not use an original character for the purpose.

Actresses

Shino Kakinuma voiced Naru in the Japanese anime while Mary Long voiced her in the North American dub. Her Latin American actress was Cristina Camargo. In Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, she was played by Chieko Kawabe.
