Sailor Moon R refers to the second season of the Sailor Moon anime.
Makaiju Arc[edit]
The Makaiju arc contained a storyline and a villain group unique to the anime, created by Toei to allow the manga time to catch up with the anime. It had no correlation with any storyline from the manga, although it did introduce Sailor Moon's new transformation Moon Crystal Power, Make Up and attack Moon Princess Halation. Events in this arc were rarely referenced in later anime episodes, although some fans have suggested that Ail and An might be connected to the character of Fiore in the Sailor Moon R movie.
Summary[edit]
Two aliens named Ail and An came to Earth to steal energy using Cardians in order to sustain their "mother," the Makaiju. This new threat prompts Luna to restore the memories of Sailor Moon and the other Sailor Senshi, which had been erased after the defeat of the Dark Kingdom. With Sailor Moon's new powers and the Cutie Moon Rod, and the assistance of the mysterious Moonlight Knight, the Senshi combat these foes until they at last discover that the Makaiju wants love, not raw energy, and that hatred and ambition destroyed most of Ail and An's race.
