Sailor Moon in Poland

Sailor Moon in Poland refers to Sailor Moon translations and merchandise released in Poland.

Anime

Sailor Moon anime, translated by Poles from French version and entitled Czarodziejka z Księżyca ('(Female) Enchanter from Moon'), was broadcasted by Polish commercial TV station Polsat in the years 1994-1997 and later in the years 2000-2001. The series was also emitted later by the station Polsat 2. Polsat broadcasted also Sailor Moon R movie. All three movies and three SuperS specials were released on VHS by Planet Manga (Sailor Moon S movie was also released on DVD and included to the magazine Gry Komputerowe). Make up! Sailor Senshi and Ami's First Love were never officially released in Poland.

Censorship and changes

• Sailor Senshi were called czarodziejki ('female enchanters').
• The episodes 45, 46 and 133 were never broadcasted.
• Usagi's name was changed into Bunny, but her real name was kept in VHS and DVD versions.
• Sailor V's name was translated without consequences. In the first episode she was called tajemnicza czarodziejka ('mysterious female enchanter'), in the episode 21st - czarodziejka z Księżyca.
• Beryl's name at the beginning sounded like Peril.
• Kunzite and Zoisite were changed to very close friends acting towards each other like brothers.
• Ayakashi Sisters' names were changed to Kermesite, Beruchite, Kalaverite and Petzite.
• Petzite's spell Dark Thunder was changed to Czarne grzmoty, do roboty ('Black thunders, to work').
• Haruka and Michiru's relationship was toned down.
• In the episode 103 Rei calls Maya Tohno sir during their first meeting. Usagi, Ami, Makoto and Minako think that Maya is male, who disguises himself as female.
• Tamasaburou and Fisheye were changed to females (the real Fisheye's gender was kept in episode 140, leaving the fans in speculation, that "she" is able to change her gender like some kinds of fishes).
• Hawk's Eye was called Sokole Oko ('Falcon Eye').
• Sailor Starlights were called Gwiezdna Czarodziejka Walki ('Star Female Enchanter of Fight'), Gwiezdna Czarodziejka Ocalenia ('Star Female Enchanter of Salvation') and Gwiezdna Czarodziejka Swobody ('Star Female Enchanter of Liberty').
• Sailor Lead Crow was called Ognista Czarodziejka ('Fire Female Enchanter').
