The Silence Glaive, also known as the Scythe of Silence (沈黙の鎌), was a polearm weapon carried by Sailor Saturn. It was used in the majority of her attacks and appeared in the anime, manga, musicals, and video games.
The Silence Glaive was a symbol of the end of all things. When dropped without words, it directly harnessed the power of Sailor Saturn's most powerful attack which could cause the entirely of a planet to turn into dust. This move was performed to its fullest extent once in the manga, during the time of the Silver Millennium after the fall of the Moon Kingdom.
In the anime, Sailor Saturn's ultimate attack using the Silence Glaive was a double edged sword, as using it would also result in her own death.
- Since the talismans of the other Outer Senshi were based on the three imperial treasures, the Silence Glaive could have been based on Ame no Nuboko, a mythical jeweled polearm said to have been used by the gods Izanagi and Izanami to harpoon the island of Japan out of the sea. Its scythe-like appearance could also have been a reference to the fact that the mythological Saturn was an agricultural deity, and sometimes depicted carrying a sickle.
