"Bakkonko" in the end credits of the episode [https://i.ibb.co/R40LP8D/Bakkonko-Jap-credits.jpg], "Bakkonko" in the Viz Dub and BD subtitles [https://i.ibb.co/gDqw1Y9/Bakkonko-Vizdub-subtitles.jpg], "Bakkonko" in the Memorial Song Box booklet [https://i.ibb.co/fQWf1BF/Bakkonko-Jap-song-box-booklet.jpg], "Battanko" in the Laserdisc Sailor Moon Memorial [https://i.ibb.co/W32z143/Bakkonko-Jap-LD-Memorial.jpg], "Battanko" on the LaserDisc Vol.4 of SuperS [https://i.ibb.co/2s3X5k6/LD-Vol-4-Battanko02.jpg]. In the episode audio, Bakkonko is definitely saying "Bakkon". In the Cloverway Dub and Pioneer subtitles it's "Bakkonko" [https://i.ibb.co/F0R005T/Bakkonko-Pioneer-subs.jpg]. The Laserdisc Memorial & SuperS Vol. 4 are the only places where it's written/spoken as ばったんこ. I've updated the English Name. Also, the full title for these Lemures (as per the episode audio) is "戦慄のアクロバットシーソー" "Senritsu no Akurobatto Shiisoo" which would translate to "Acrobat See-Saw of Horror" -[[User:CorzaMoon|Corza Moon]] ([[User talk:CorzaMoon|talk]]) 23:05, 1 December 2019 (EST)

Why are this articles so short?! Isn't there anything to write about? --Guilherme Guerreiro 14:30, 13 December 2010 (MST)

Articles like this one are short because users like you have yet to contribute something to them. Kerochan no Miko 15:59, 13 December 2010 (MST)

I re-watched the episode today to update some info on the lemures, and the pronunciation of this name is actually "Bakkonko". Sorry for the inconvenience :(. --Diagnosed 19:35, 3 March 2012 (MST)

Perhaps that's what you heard (and what SMC apparently put in their subs) but that isn't correct - her name is ばったんこ. Kerochan no Miko 19:51, 3 March 2012 (MST)
It's also in the Geneon DVD subtitles and the English version. What's your source for "Battanko"? Just the "seesaw" word? --Diagnosed 20:04, 3 March 2012 (MST)
The kana was added by Dooky, who was good about getting information from official sources, and unless someone finds an official source (which Geneon and the dub most certainly are not) to prove that it's wrong I'm going to believe it, since the logic of Gittanko and Battanko's names together fits, whereas if she were named "Bakkonko" then there's no more meaning to it. Kerochan no Miko 20:31, 3 March 2012 (MST)
Also, I will note that if you listen to the two Lemures going back and forth on the seesaw, you can hear them saying "Gittan! Battan!" which reinforces the idea that her name is ばったんこ. Kerochan no Miko 20:37, 3 March 2012 (MST)
My apologies then. I didn't realize we were considering the licensed subs to be unofficial. --Diagnosed 23:09, 3 March 2012 (MST)
They aren't necessarily "unofficial" but they are not a primary source of information, because they do have translation errors. Kerochan no Miko 23:28, 3 March 2012 (MST)
Alright then that makes sense :). If only I had one of the japanese episode books for this series! You know, the ones with all the MOTD info in the back? Those are great :). In any case, I did hear it as Bakkon. In terms of the seesaw word... ぎっこんばったん is pronounced gikkonbattan. If the names were Gittanko and Bakkonko, it would fit in that the second syllable of each section of the word is switched to form their names (so instead of gikkonbattan, they've played on it to make gittanbakkon. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to me that Gittanko fits if paired with Battanko. But, we probably need a printed source to solve this discrepancy once and for all lol. Thanks for the discussion over this anyways :). --Diagnosed 23:49, 3 March 2012 (MST)
Argh... I actually checked their names out of curiosity... Well, in the episode credits, they are called ぎったんこ and ばっこんこ (sic), but in the memorial video, they are ぎったんこ and ばったんこ. And now I officially hate Toei for their lack of consistency. --YnK 00:26, 4 March 2012 (MST)
@Diagnosed - when Tiger's Eye originally calls her it does sound like "Bakkon" but when she says her name it sounds like "Battan". And I'm not talking about "the seesaw word" in the article, I'm talking about the sound of going up and down on a seesaw which (according to what I've read, I'm not a native speaker) is either "gittan/battan" or "gikkon/bakkon" and I hear them saying the former in the episode.
@YnK - ah, derp, I should've just checked the episode credits, but thanks for looking at the memorial as well. I say we just leave the article as it is and note the "Bakkonko" inconsistency in trivia, because it should be even just for the Cloverway subs. Kerochan no Miko 00:40, 4 March 2012 (MST)

Bakkonko[edit]

Hey, all. I was the one originally responsible for this name being up here (and all of the anime names/credits, really). I have, however, recently acquired much higher quality versions of the episodes, and I've been noticing a few errors that slipped through the first time. As far as I can tell, the name "Battanko" only appears in the SuperS Memorial. Most likely, the blurry old fansub I originally used made this name look similar enough to one I'd already heard that I overlooked the difference.

Well, anyway, in my opinion it's almost undoubtedly Bakkonko. The credits say it, the characters appear to say it too. dooky 10:00, 19 July 2012 (MST)

Viz's subtitles on Hulu likewise spell this Lemures's name as "Bakkonko". Another point for that spelling over the Memorial's lone oddity. --65.32.53.116 22:05, 15 September 2015 (MST)

Bakkonko vs Battanko[edit]

"Bakkonko" in the end credits of the episode [1], "Bakkonko" in the Viz Dub and BD subtitles [2], "Bakkonko" in the Memorial Song Box booklet [3], "Battanko" in the Laserdisc Sailor Moon Memorial [4], "Battanko" on the LaserDisc Vol.4 of SuperS [5]. In the episode audio, Bakkonko is definitely saying "Bakkon". In the Cloverway Dub and Pioneer subtitles it's "Bakkonko" [6]. The Laserdisc Memorial & SuperS Vol. 4 are the only places where it's written/spoken as ばったんこ. I've updated the English Name. Also, the full title for these Lemures (as per the episode audio) is "戦慄のアクロバットシーソー" "Senritsu no Akurobatto Shiisoo" which would translate to "Acrobat See-Saw of Horror" -Corza Moon (talk) 23:05, 1 December 2019 (EST)
