Talk:Haruka Tenou
Why did you have to revert my changes?! The were all true! --SailorYea 09:34, 22 February 2009 (MST)
- I removed that because there is no canon proof that the location of the Star Seed when it appears makes a person "special" in any way. It could very well be just an animation decision, and anything else is just speculation. Kerochan no Miko 10:47, 22 February 2009 (MST)
Official spelling
The official spelling as per Volume 11, and in the manga and anime is Haruka Tenoh. (Her name tag shows up in several places)--Hitsuji Kinno 11:54, 4 July 2007 (MST)
- We've chosen to spell it this way here. Kerochan no Miko
- Why would you chose this spelling over the official spelling? BettyAnn 20:12, 18 December 2007 (MST)
- I'll let others answer your question since I've no idea, just wanna list the possible renditions here: Tenou (the currently used one), Tenoh (the alleged official one), Tennou (as used in computer input), Tenoo (unusual but such rendition is also used here), Tenō (as seen sometimes), Teno (the simplest one), & maybe some combinations of the above. lol --210 20:32, 18 December 2007 (MST)
- The decision was made before I showed up on the site, so I went and asked. Part of the answer for the "official spelling" argument is the same as for the Metaria/Metalia explanation on the character name guide talk page, relevant section quoted here:
- ...the fact that Takeuchi happened to write it as 'Metaria' doesn't swing it for me. The argument in favour of Metaria assumes she wrote it thinking "This is the official English spelling" and not just "I'm writing in English because it looks cool". The reissued manga was aimed at a specifically Japanese audience, and any English included was most likely used for decorative, not informative, purposes. She also wrote Death Phantom as "Deth Fantom" at one point. You can make an argument for Fantom, but Deth seems to be an example of someone taking an English word, turning it into katakana, then ten years later trying to put it back into English without the aid of a dictionary. I'm not convinced Metaria is any different.
- Basically, there's nothing that says "this is the official spelling of this name." Yes, it does appear on Haruka's name tag a few times, but again, um, "Deth Fantom." The -ou spelling is used because one way had to be chosen for consistency, and the ones who chose preferred that system. And at this point, there would need to be a really, really good reason to change it, considering how many links &c would have to be fixed.
- Hope that helps... Kerochan no Miko 00:28, 21 December 2007 (MST)
- Just wanna point out that "Tenoh" is one of the legitimate & not uncommon romanization forms used nowadays, as opposed to a spelling error like "Deth Fantom." That doesn't mean I prefer "Tenoh," tho - I've no opinions on which one should be used ATM, tho I agree that if there're no strong reasons emerging for changing the current one, we better keep that to save the troubles. --210 05:02, 21 December 2007 (MST)
- I'm perfectly aware of that - it's not a perfect analogy, just pointing out that the romanized spellings aren't necessarily intended to be official. Kerochan no Miko 05:20, 21 December 2007 (MST)
- Don't get me wrong - I was fully aware that you were using that analogy to support that point. I was just pointing out that difference & all. BTW, I think I've also seen "Ten'ou" being used, hence maybe also some combinations w/ those in the list I posted above. lol --210 17:23, 21 December 2007 (MST)

Haruka's car?
Hmm, honestly, this is driving me crazy. In the manga, Haruka's favorite machine is the "Tenoumaru," but I don't know if refers to the car or the helicopter. The helicopter, for sure, is named the Kaioumaru, but then there's a picture that shows two helicopters. At first, I assumed that they each had a helicopter, but it's leaving me confused at the moment... WaterKnight 14:34, 18 December 2007 (MST)
- I'm 98% certain it's the name for Haruka's helicopter. They both have helicopters, and I'm pretty sure Setsuna has one too. You can see three flying away at the end of the Mugen arc.--Sailor Biccy 15:38, 18 December 2007 (MST)
- Yes, Tenoumaru and Kaioumaru are the helicopters. Kerochan no Miko 15:59, 18 December 2007 (MST)
Inaccuracy
"She was one of the only characters to be seen operating a vehicle, along with Mamoru Chiba." I'm sure there are more -- Nephrite and Eudial, for starters. Do you mean something like "one of the only characters on the good side"? I didn't want to simply remove the sentence as it's clear the writer meant something, I'm just not sure how best to rephrase it. Nephrite 17:31, 3 May 2008 (MST)
- I vote to just remove it - you're right, there were several characters seen operating vehicles, so I don't see how it's really worth mentioning as a notable fact. Kerochan no Miko 17:40, 3 May 2008 (MST)
??
Despite her gender, Haruka always referred to herself with the pronoun "boku" (僕), which is usually only used by males. This, as well as her androgynous looks and penchant for wearing men's clothing, may explain why many characters thought she was a man when they met her for the first time.
Is it neccessary to say... because she talks and looks like a man. People thought she was a man? I think the trivia noteshould be changed to simply:
Despite her gender, Haruka always referred to herself with the pronoun "boku" (僕), which is usually only used by males. Minakoaino 15:50, 4 January 2011 (MST)
- Yes, it's necessary, because the pronoun wasn't the only way she acted like a man. Kerochan no Miko 16:09, 4 January 2011 (MST)
- Isn't more personality rather than trivia? Minakoaino 16:10, 4 January 2011 (MST)
- Also changed car to vehicle. Vehicles would then include Michiru, Setsuna (helicopters) Rei, Chibiusa, Momoko and her group (bicycles)... Minakoaino 16:22, 4 January 2011 (MST)
