If you want to look up what she originally said there and compare it to the dub line, then there could possibly be something to this, but just saying that they added a line isn't significant - lines get added to dubs constantly for timing purposes, if nothing else. There would need to be some kind of indication of Viz's intent in adding that to claim a motive here, and I don't see one. Viz dub differences

One thing that the Viz dub changes is the alteration of lines that could be perceived as "homophobic." In this episode, they alter some lines where the girls act like they're taken aback by the notion of two girls (Haruka and Michiru) entering the contest. they also add a line where Minako says "they sure look perfect together" which she didn't say in the original. This fits a theme of Viz trying to tone down "homophobia" in the series as in the R movie, when the girls are discussing whether Fiore might be gay, the Viz dub adds a line where one of the girls says "not that there's anything wrong with that." In an episode of Sailor Stars, a girl gives Usagi a love letter which makes her flinch and in the Japanese version she says, "you should really give this to a guy" but the Viz dub makes her say something else (she discovers, though that the girl was actually asking her to give the letter to Yaten, who is male in his/her civilian form). 50.24.16.38 21:10, 9 March 2021 (EST)

I pointed out that it's part of pattern as shown in their dubs of other material where they made similar alterations. Also, in one of the bonus features on one of the Blu-Rays, there was an interview with one of the dub script writers where she indicated that she was uncomfortable with some of the original Japanese dialog and needed to fudge it a bit, even if it was the original dialogue.
