Changes

How often did you guys plan to change the stuff on the main page? Just curious.--Sakky 18:06, 14 October 2006 (MST)

Yes I'd like to see a new Featured article... Sailor Aluminum Seiren perhaps. (This unsigned comment was left by Minako, November 29, 2008)

Feel free to expand that article to the extent that it deserves to be featured and I'll put it on the main page. Kerochan no Miko 19:28, 29 November 2008 (MST)

New Main Page design

I went ahead with this since most of the links now lead to something. Also, the page is now protected, for obvious reasons. Dooky 00:59, 29 May 2006 (MST)

I think the Main Page may need some new ideas, like having a monthly featured episode, or a poll each week. I think it can be a little more fun, fun for all! WikiPrincess

I dunno whether the Wiki software, especially this old version, has a facility to support polling, tho. --210 23:15, 29 October 2009 (MST)

I like the new main page stuff. What were your thoughts on how often it would be changed? My thinking was we shouldn't change it more than once every month or two, unless the project starts to pick up a lot of steam.--WikiSysop 11:37, 14 June 2006 (MST)

I'd like to change it every few weeks, just to show we're an active project. Of course, right now there aren't many quality articles here... it'll certainly be a while before any of the major Senshi/villain articles are up to scratch, so for the time being we're stuck with minor or one-off characters. One we have picked up steam, I'd like to change the featured article once a week, but we'll also need to devise a system for choosing featured articles. There isn't really a lot of point putting such a system into action now though, as there's only a handful of contributors who'd be voting. Dooky 12:30, 14 June 2006 (MST)

The latest modification is neat. In particular, love the celestial symbols. 210 23:15, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Sorry for nickpicking, but I guess more line spacings above the new links in smaller fonts in the Sailormoon history box would make it look better. 210 07:25, 10 August 2006 (MST)

Only problem is... on any given day, the amount of content in that box could be one item, or three or even more. There's probably a way to make the text align with the bottom of the box, but I don't know what that might be. dooky 07:31, 10 August 2006 (MST)
Yeah, I've also thought that aligning w/ the bottom would be most ideal, but as you've said, the amount of contents for each day is variable, making it tricky. So how about just add a bit more line spacings? 210 07:41, 10 August 2006 (MST)
It might be an idea to add additional spacing to the days themselves, although I'm not sure how well this would work. I'll look into it. dooky 07:50, 10 August 2006 (MST)

The link to More unwritten articles doesn't work. I wonder how to fix that?--WikiSysop 00:17, 13 August 2006 (MST)

usagino0.gif WikiMoon with 1000+ articles usagino0.gif

WikiMoon will soon reach 1000+ articles and I was wondering if someone could make a kind of banner with a "1000+ hits" on it or something? I guess it's gonna be interesting to have new and fresh picture for each 1000+/2000+/etc. articles. They can be gathered in a separate page later on... and will represent the symbol of the SM fans' never-ending love and respect to the series. Just as a suggestion, what do you think? It may not be pic or banner, it could be anything. --StarFighter 05:13, 22 July 2006 (MST)

ahahah I've just read the last opinions, gomen >_< I was talking about the same thing ^^ --StarFighter 05:16, 22 July 2006 (MST)

I've been thinking about this, and I'd like to see different banners for different milestones. I wonder how many articles we'll create before we run out of things to talk about? The projected number of articles for my anime-only encyclopaedia is about 1600... but then I don't have articles on individual voice actors, the dub, fandom or other continuities.
But yeah. We want a banner for people to use on forums and the like to publicise the event, and a little award template for whoever makes the 1000th article. dooky 05:27, 22 July 2006 (MST)

I totally agree a small award will stimulate ppl to compete for the 1000th/2000th aticle (and not only). In any case, WikiMoon has nothing to lose, hahaha ^_^. The more, the better.

Oh, the "Silver Millenia Award"! (It just came from nowhere in my mind. :P) 210 18:35, 22 July 2006 (MST)

Who got it? lol 210.245.162.185 01:31, 27 July 2006 (MST)

Fact: the wikimoon SQL database, unzipped, is over 65 megs right now.--WikiSysop 03:38, 14 August 2006 (MST)

Soon we'll be at 25,000 hits on the front page.--WikiSysop 03:54, 6 September 2006 (MST)

Over 50,000 hits now on the front page. 25,000 of that in around 5 weeks.--WikiSysop 09:30, 16 October 2006 (MST)

As we're approaching the 2nd "millennium", anything planned? ^^ --210 22:27, 15 January 2007 (MST)

Yes we're going to sit around and panic as our SQL database hits 175 megs, which is probably going to hit a db size ceiling on GoDaddy at some point or another.--WikiSysop 08:48, 16 January 2007 (MST)
That's too bad. Sounds like a growth brake for this project. --210 18:12, 16 January 2007 (MST)

Featured article again

Miharu's been up there for a while now. Any suggestions for the next featured article? dooky 16:05, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Jadeite?--WikiSysop 17:06, 24 July 2006 (MST)

It needs some cleaning up, but it's a good candidate. dooky 17:18, 24 July 2006 (MST)
Not that he's biased, or anything.... :P We could always go with Sailor Mercury, I think that's the most fleshed-out senshi article thus far. Or maybe something from PGSM, Mio Kuroki perhaps? Someone obscure, like Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon? Or maybe an attack item or an attack itself? Kerochan no Miko 18:42, 24 July 2006 (MST)
You realize, of course, that Jadeite could destroy you. He could. Even frozen in a block. He's like texas, don't mess with Jadeite.--WikiSysop 20:35, 24 July 2006 (MST)
I have it on good authority that Jadeite likes to wait until there's nobody around, then put on a sparkly Sailor Fuku and parade up and down saying "Tee hee! I'm Sailor Neptune!" dooky 20:47, 24 July 2006 (MST)
If we can get a picture of that, I'm all for putting it on the front page. Kerochan no Miko 20:59, 24 July 2006 (MST)
One has to become his enemy to know them.--WikiSysop 00:23, 25 July 2006 (MST)

I was thinking about the so-called "Shippai-Sakuda" phage (a.k.a. Kengo onii-san) as the only phage who gets mentally confused by Rei's words... In a way that makes him unique of all others... But the article is not created yet o_O.

The previous two articles have been anime-only, so it would be nice to have something from the manga. The Papillon article is a strong candidate, I think: it's fairly complete and only seems to need minimal cleaning up. Plus she's a character some casual fans may actually have heard of ^_^ Get a picture in there ans we'll see what can be done. dooky 19:00, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Which episode should we have as the next featured episode? I suggest Bring a Smile to Naru's Face! Usagi's Friendship (heh I love Boxy) or Usagi is Frantic! Rei's First Date for its hilarity).

The one I wanted to suggest hasn't been written yet. Maybe I should do that...
Although, should we alternate between anime episodes and live action episodes? Or maybe even include manga chapters? Kerochan no Miko 11:15, 25 July 2006 (MST)
The anime has more episodes, so I guess we'll be having more of them, but we can certainly include PGSM eps and yeah, even manga chapters. The thing is that we have about 40 complete anime episode summaries, just a handful of manga chapters and no complete PGSM summaries at all. I'd certainly like to feature some of them though. What episode were you thinking of? dooky 11:32, 25 July 2006 (MST)
My first thought was Night Between Us! Usagi's Pinch because I just recently re-watched that one and remembered how much I liked it. But I can write the summary for that later. Protect Mamoru! Jealousy of Usagi the Ninja is another one of my favorites (love Usagi-ninja) but also, no summary yet. So basically, I just need to get writing.
But for a real suggestion, I've always liked The Sparkling Silver Crystal! The Moon Princess Appears. Kerochan no Miko 11:48, 25 July 2006 (MST)
Usagi's Pinch is possibly my favourite episode aside from Distant Days of Uranus. We definitely need to feature it at some point ^_^ dooky 12:07, 25 July 2006 (MST)
The episode where she gets drunk at a party is also a classic. Nice to meet you, cream stew!--WikiSysop 13:39, 25 July 2006 (MST)
I also really like the one in SuperS where Usagi and Chibiusa switch ages. Kerochan no Miko 14:19, 25 July 2006 (MST)

^ Oh, teenage Chibiusa is HAWT in that episode. Be sure to include a cap of her in the article! ^^ 210 17:28, 25 July 2006 (MST)

Is it time to change featured articles again? If so, I want to repeat my vote for Night Between Us! Usagi's Pinch since I went and wrote the summary for it. >_> Kerochan no Miko 20:05, 22 August 2006 (MST)

I'd approve that, as long as it had a picture added. Although I'd like to make PGSM episode featured ar some point in the near future too (I don't even like PGSM, but we should be even-handed really). The trouble is, we have way more worthy candidates for featured episode than we do for featured article, and I like to change them at the same time. So... any suggestions for featued article. It has to be reasonably complete, whatever it is. dooky 21:03, 22 August 2006 (MST)
Someone else will have to get a screencap for it, as I don't have DVDs. Let's save the PGSM episode until I get more summaries written. ^_^; And we could always make Jadeite the featured fairy article. Kerochan no Miko 22:18, 23 August 2006 (MST)
lol I also have the feeling that the PGSM Jadeite looks a bit like a fairy/elf. BTW, the PGSM episode articles also need pics. Anyone? 210 22:54, 23 August 2006 (MST)
I could put screencaps on the PGSM episodes, but most of mine are tv rips with the time in the corner, and I think it looks messy. :P Kerochan no Miko 22:55, 23 August 2006 (MST)

^ I understand that. So anyone else who (is rich & hence) has all the PGSM DVDs to do it? 210 23:04, 23 August 2006 (MST)

Regarding the Jadeite article... it's pretty informative, but it needs to be re-worded from an in-universe perspective. Since the last three featured articles have been on people, how about choosing one about an item or place. I notice the Sailor Moon in North America article is looking pretty good, so maybe we could consider that. dooky 02:39, 24 August 2006 (MST)
Moon Prism Power, Make Up? Sailor Moon in Sweden? Moon Stick? Sailor Moon in North America really does look good, too. --Kerochan no Miko 01:51, 30 August 2006 (MST)
Naah, Sailor Moon in Sweden is somewhat skeletal so far; I'm having a genereally hectic period so I haven't finished it yet, but it's supposed to be better than that. The other suggestions all look good to me. --Rosen 02:08, 30 August 2006 (MST)

I just realized that I'm overdue to change the featured article for this month - any suggestions for articles or episodes? Kerochan no Miko 20:38, 20 June 2007 (MST)

I think this is a "little" overdue o.o My Suggestions: Welcome Back Ami, Minako vs. Rei, Where's the Battle, Minako Venus Nurse Mayhem, Dispute Over Love, Makoto and Minako Face Off? And for an article... Moon Spiral Heart Attack? Mimete? ANZA? o.o 20:14, 28 February 2011 (MST)20:14, 28 February 2011 (MST)

Oooh my suggestion was taken =^.^= i feel special. Perhaps we could actually start doing this every month? :3 Cartwheelingfiesta 20:00, 17 March 2011 (MST)
I stopped doing it every month because we weren't getting enough edits... I let it go a lot too long the last time, but yeah, I'm going to try to change it more often now. Kerochan no Miko 20:09, 17 March 2011 (MST)
Heheh I'm sure there's at least 12 articles a year that are up to scratch XD Maybe episodes could be every second or third month or something? Its not like the featured article has to be very long.

Silver Millennium, 10th Anniversary Ai no Sanctuary (unless that counts as an episode), Mimete or possibly Moon Eternal, Make Up Cartwheelingfiesta 22:20, 4 April 2011 (MST)

Its not like the featured article has to be very long.
Um... no, actually, it is like that. It has to be at least long enough to fill the blurb box, and the point of featuring an article is to point to a particularly significant/interesting/well-written article, not to just put something on the front page. Kerochan no Miko 22:45, 4 April 2011 (MST)
I meant it doesn't have to be the size of say of the Sailor Moon article... Moon Eternal, Make Up however, is short but it is long enough to feature... I understand a page like "Dancing Animamates" or "Dead Moon Circus". Its just a suggestion <.<". Im just saying its nice to see something different once in a while. I personally think the four articles mentioned are interesting. Particularly Silver Millenium and are of adequate length. Cartwheelingfiesta 23:08, 4 April 2011 (MST)

Did You Knows

List any trivia for the front page here. dooky 06:18, 26 July 2006 (MST)

-that Moonlight Densetsu reached platinum; (Hitoshi Doi's page)

-that Sailor Star Song reached #7 at Oricon; I'm not sure for that one, was it from Doi again?

-that on the LD release of the S Movie there is an interview with Kunihiko Ikuhara;

-that the remastered version of all seasons included creditless OP & ED themes;

-that Sailor Moon and all of it incarnations have more than 1000 tracks/songs released over the years;

-that Sailor Moon won a JASRAC award for music

-that the S season ending theme "Tuxedo Mirage" was sung by the five main voice actresses;

-that the battle with Kaorinite was settled on Tokyo Tower, which is often chosen by Japanese studios;

-that in the NA dub Haruka and Michiru were cousins (^__^)'

-that sometimes SM animators like to play jokes with characters and real people from the anime's staff; You can check the Sailor Moon Inside Joke List for reference:

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/5976/injokes/

Was the Uranus and Neptune theme really played by Vanessa Mae? We can add this too. These are my suggestions, when anything else comes to my head I'll add it. Some look like statistics, but it seemed interesting to me.--StarFighter 16:27, 26 July 2006 (MST)

Regarding the Vanessa Mae thing: it's definitely a myth that she performed the Uranus and Neptune theme. Some people think this rumour sprang from a mislabelled mp3. However, I did read over at SailorMusic that she may have performed a studio library piece that was picked up by Toei and used in episodes 35 and 44.
I'd quite like to have an article on the Mae rumour. I generally despair of "Dumb Sailor Moon Rumours" pages since they're full of nonsense that not even a small child would believe (Chibi Chibi is Kunzite and Zoisite's daughter from the future! Ikuko and Zirconia fall in love!) but this is fairly unique as a rumour, in that it persists to this day, and is still on a lot of sites... dooky 16:41, 26 July 2006 (MST)
The Lohan rumor. lol 210 17:57, 26 July 2006 (MST)
To be fair a lot of work is put into those Rumour Pages, I used to submit to SMULC when it was still around and it had a rule of only accepting rumours from checkable sources like websites or magazine articles or something like that. There are some very bizzare rumours out there.... like the one that claims Usagi is Christian and her arguements with Rei are because Rei is Shinto O_o. GracieLizzie 01:07, 23 August 2006 (MST)
My problem with many of those sites is that they go for quantity rather than quality. I don't doubt that the 'rumours' come from genuine websites, but I often got the impression that they were just raiding crappy websites for every inaccuracy they could find. There were a lot of genuine rumours back in the day, but these seemed to be eclipsed on those pages by hundreds of entries that would be better described as "inaccuracies that appeared on one website". For something to be a rumour it has to be passed between people and repeated, and I just felt that the 'dumb rumours' pages turned into a sort of competition in the end as to who could fill their page with the most 'rumours'. dooky 01:58, 23 August 2006 (MST)

So it's really just a rumour *sigh* (but I'm glad I finally learned the truth). Ahahaha, that must be it - years ago I also downloaded an mp3 that had Vanessa Mae and Sailor Moon in its name (I was using DC++). At first I thought it was a remix or something, but when played it it was H&M's transformation theme... and I was kind of disappointed.^^ Later I encountered a thread where the users referred to it as the song that Vanessa Mae played o_O so I wonder who did that in the first place. It's a very persistent rumour that seems to have lived on...

Ah, the Lohan rumour!! How could I forget that!--StarFighter 18:33, 26 July 2006 (MST)

Anyone have new trivia notes for the front page? Kerochan no Miko 23:32, 22 November 2006 (MST)

-that Sailor Neptune is enveloped in moondust during the flashback of Queen Serenity sending Princess Serenity, Prince Endymion, and the Senshi to Earth. (This unsigned comment was left by WaterKnight)

First of all, if you want to leave a comment, leave your own comment and sign it. Don't add what you want to say into someone else's comment. Second of all, that was not Sailor Neptune. It appeared to be a Sailor Senshi, and it had vaguely similar coloring to Neptune's, but it wasn't her. Kerochan no Miko 19:15, 18 September 2007 (MST)

In the NA dub of the anime, Lita's mom is allergic to cats. -_- WaterKnight 12:21, 30 December 2007 (MST)

Eudial is afraid of snails, Myu Choreography Ado Endou played many roles within her musicals include Sailor Lead Crow, in episode 83 the dress Usagi wore was inspired by an 1898 illustration by Alphonse Mucha, Michiru can play the violin while simultaneously juggling a lemon, Ikuko can't sew, Ikuko and Sugao Saitou both attended Minako's junior high school in PGSM, Berthier and Aluminum Seiren only appeared in Kaiteibans. Petz and Gallica were the only characters performed by a man. Keiko Han played Luna in both the anime and PGSM. Cartwheelingfiesta 20:22, 28 February 2011 (MST)

Kotono Mitsuishi is not the only voice actor from the original anime that is also in Crystal. Mami Koyama, Daisuke Sakaguchi and Rumi Kasahara are also in Crystal and original anime.--Yuri Tanima (talk) 04:20, 23 March 2015 (MST)

Consistency

Should we go with "Zero Star Sagittarius", "Sagittarius Zero Star", "Zero Star of Sagittarius", or another of the billions of names I've seen? Kerochan no Miko 22:08, 26 August 2006 (MST)

The second is the one I most recognise. What is it in Japanese? dooky 22:52, 26 August 2006 (MST)

I've seen it as the first one. --Queen Mio 06:57, 21 July 2008 (MST)

Isn't Sagittarius Zero Star the official name? I read the manga. Purple_Saturn_(sailormoon) 10:41, 29 May 2010 (MST)

Typo

Admins, there's a typo in the current (Nov. 15) Sailormoon history box. --210 01:32, 15 November 2006 (MST)

I've corrected it. This could be a security breach tho. --210 01:40, 15 November 2006 (MST)

Spam Blacklist - a solution?

Dear WikiMoon admins, have you considered installing the Spam Blacklist Extension from MediaWiki? Apparently it's a bit of a bugger to install, but once installed, it prevents spammers from saving pages with spam links in them. Other seeming solutions to spam are documented here. Cheers, Malkinann 15:35, 28 October 2007 (MST)

I gave both of those links (and more) to the sysop ages ago and he's looking into it. Trust me, I'm at least as tired of this as you are. Kerochan no Miko 15:50, 28 October 2007 (MST)

Okay, thanks to WikiSysop there's now a little thingey installed for anonymous users to prove they're a person before they can edit. A couple vandals have managed to get past it, but either it's cutting down on spambots or they just haven't hit us today. We'll see how it goes. Kerochan no Miko 00:46, 30 October 2007 (MST)

Hoping that the bots won't evolve to become intelligent enough to solve arithmatical problems. I always suspect that some of the bots & anti-bot softwares are developed by the same persons/organizations for fun/profits (this might also be the case for viruses & anti-virus softwares). lol --210 06:12, 30 October 2007 (MST)

Because of continued vandalism and whatnot, anonymous edits have been disabled (thanks to WikiSysop, who put the fix in place for me). I apologize to anyone out there who wants to make a legitmate contribution to the site without having to create an account, but the bots were getting out of hand. Hopefully this will stop the vandalism, though, so there's less annoyance for everyone. As usual, let me know if you have any questions &c. Kerochan no Miko 02:27, 13 November 2007 (MST)

Hm.. I can't say that I'm thrilled about that solution, as it might discourage legitimate newbies from editing.-Malkinann 21:23, 13 November 2007 (MST)
Installing a captcha reduced vandalism but it was still a significant problem. If you have a better solution, please feel free to suggest it. Kerochan no Miko 21:47, 13 November 2007 (MST)
Would the Spam Blacklist be too tricky to install? It really does kill spam dead in its tracks and it chugs away quietly, not letting the spambots save their pages at all without normal users even knowing it's there. -Malkinann 05:49, 15 November 2007 (MST)
From what I've seen of it, the Blacklist would only stop the people posting message board spam, which the captcha took care of. It did nothing for the people vandalising articles. Kerochan no Miko 14:23, 15 November 2007 (MST)

By whatever means, it seems to work in the past few days, but of course, we'll continue to see. --210 17:27, 15 November 2007 (MST)

Front Page

It would be better if there was a new featured article and episode.--Yuri Tanima 10:14, 23 October 2009 (MST)

Feel free to suggest which ones should be featured. Kerochan no Miko 10:23, 23 October 2009 (MST)
I think that the episode could be The Golden Crystal Appears! Nehellenia's Spell and the article could be about dream Mirror or Sailor V manga.--Yuri Tanima 05:24, 25 October 2009 (MST)
Episode 164 has already been featured, and there haven't been any significant changes to it since that time. The Codename: Sailor V article is too short to be featured. And the Dream Mirror article needs a picture to be featured. Kerochan no Miko 12:42, 25 October 2009 (MST)

3000 Articles

Just wanted to note that we hit our 3,000th article today. Go WikiMoon! Kerochan no Miko 20:26, 21 December 2009 (MST)

Congrats! And it's been done before the end of the year, too! ^^ --210 00:15, 22 December 2009 (MST)
Yes, my goal was to do it before the end of 2009. Kerochan no Miko 01:14, 22 December 2009 (MST)
We noticed it, you worked a lot lately. Wow, 3000 articles, WikiMoon is the best! --Silver 06:56, 22 December 2009 (MST)
I'm so glad to see it. It's great! Congratulations!--Yuri Tanima 07:58, 22 December 2009 (MST)

Fandom articles

To bring this up for discussion to the wiki: do we need articles about specific fan projects?

Generally speaking, when it comes to fan projects the wiki will have an article about the phenomenon (such as the one about doujinshi or fanfiction or Otaku Senshi, defining the terms &c) but not articles about specific examples thereof. We haven't allowed articles about specific Otaku Senshi or specific fanfics, just because they're not really within the scope of this project. If someone wants to link to a particular fanfic author or fanartist, that's what WikiMoon Web is for.

So if we don't allow articles about a fanfic, then why do we allow articles about specific fan-made video games? Should they exist? Now that it's been brought to my attention, I've realized that they really are an unusual exception for the rest of the wiki, so I'm curious if other people have opinions on the matter. Kerochan no Miko 17:29, 16 May 2010 (MST)

Maybe just one article about fan-made Sailor Moon games? --210 22:17, 16 May 2010 (MST)
That's what I was thinking -- an article about fan-made games in general, like the articles about fanfiction and fanart and suchlike. It could cover the common types of games rather than the games themselves, like the Otaku Senshi article does.
There are also several articles about old memes that could be combined with their source articles; for example, the "Serena Gravey" one could be turned into a note on the alt.fan.sailor-moon article. Those are articles that were created way back when the wiki was first created and I don't think a lot of guidelines had been made, so I haven't really paid much attention to them. I could go either way on it, to be honest. Kerochan no Miko 22:26, 16 May 2010 (MST)
It could go along the lines of the Sailor Moon Games article. BTW, one of those earlier articles that's come to my mind ATM: Sailor Bubba. --210 22:57, 16 May 2010 (MST)
...yeah, Sailor Bubba is an odd one. That almost fits in the "parody" category. Kerochan no Miko 23:45, 16 May 2010 (MST)

Anime Category Propositions

I would like to propose some changes in the Sailor Moon (anime) category, I believe there are way to many links in that section alone and it therefore could use some subcategories to help make it easier to find specific articles and such. As the anime contains an extremely large amount of Episodes, Characters, Items, Attacks and Miscellaneous specific and relevant to a particular season alone, I believe that this category should reflect it. In many respects (for instance, a specific group of villains per season), the anime is very clearly separated in five different seasons and I think therefore five categories should be created accordingly (i.e. Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS and Sailor Stars).

Such categories would be useful in terms of classification. For instance, a Sailor Moon R category would contain not only the episodes of that season, but also anything anime-related that has to do with that specific season. For instance, in this case; the Sailor Moon R episodes, the Sailor Moon R Drama, the Sailor Moon R Memorial, the Sailor Moon R Music Collection, Make up! Sailor Senshi and the Sailor Moon R Movie. In the same line of thinking, It would also contain articles such as Fire Soul Bird, Supreme Thunder Dragon, Dark Fire, Dark Thunder the Black Moon Stick, the Crystal Points, the Negative Points and other such articles and subcategories specific to the Sailor Moon R season alone. That category could also possibly contain a subcategory for the characters specifically related to that season alone.

In the case of the Sailor Moon SuperS Special, it would constitute a subcategory in a Sailor Moon SuperS category, along with the episodes of that season, the Sailor Moon SuperS Drama, Memorial, Movie, Ami's First Love and items like the Stallion Rêve, the Dream Mirror, etc. This would keep with the same reasoning: classify things to make them ALL easier to find: just like the characters in the Character-related categories. These categories are indeed very useful to track down specific articles.

ALSO: As the instigator of these propositions, I would gladly take it upon myself to modify each and every links/articles that would require it within a predefined time limit, should any of those proposition be adopted. --Sailorsimon 23:00, 12 February 2012 (MST)

Disagree. There are currently only 150 articles in the "Sailor Moon anime" category that aren't under a specific subset of said category, and those articles also have other categories with which they can be found. I honestly think that trying to compartmentalize those into "Sailor Moon R" and "Sailor Moon SuperS" and so on and so forth is unnecessarily regimented - if someone is going to be looking for an article on, say, the Stallion Rêve, I can't imagine that they will immediately go, "oh, I should look for the 'Sailor Moon SuperS' category" instead of the "Items" category. I think categories for what things/episodes/attacks/whatever actually are would be far more important than articles about which season they specifically appeared in. Also, then you open up the possibility that we should start subsetting just about everything on the site - I would rather have five really good categories than a hundred little tiny ones that nobody is really going to use with "blonde characters" and "attacks used in the Dream arc" or whatever. Kerochan no Miko 04:30, 13 February 2012 (MST)
I understand your point, I was stretching it a bit there for some reason...
However, I would still like to point out the fact that it is a common practise in wikis to AT LEAST categorize the episodes of any particular series based upon which season they appeared in. I think it makes sense to do it like that and with 200+ episodes, I believe it is only appropriate. Also, the type of articles you mentioned like the Sailor Moon R are supposed to be more than a simple listing of the seasons' episodes. They are suppose to contain a detailed overview and explanation of the season; that is what this type of articles about the seasons themselves are for, like The Sailor Moon (first season) article, for example. Therefore, it would not necessarily be redundant in that sense to have both the category and the article for Sailor Moon R. After all, we have an article for the Lemures which contains a complete list of them, but we still have a Lemures Category and yet it is not redundant because the article is more than a simple listing. The same can be said about all the MOTDs. --Sailorsimon 23:16, 14 February 2012 (MST)
What exactly are you basing your "supposed to be" on? This is WikiMoon, not Wikipedia. Not another fan wiki. There is no "supposed to" except for the style guidelines for this wiki. I'm not saying that our methods are perfect and can't be improved upon, because that's never true, but you can't try to impose guidelines from somewhere else here simply because you think they "should" be. The articles about the seasons could certainly use an overview/summary section, though, so I'll see if I can spare some brainpower to write something up.
Categorizing episode articles themselves by season may be feasible, though then you come up with issues like specials and movies and such that are a little more iffy, because they don't necessarily fit in a season and yet putting them in their own category would be a little extraneous - I'll think on it and try to figure something out. But items, attacks, powers, etc, I really strongly feel do not need to be categorized by season, especially since some anime-only things showed up in more than one season. Kerochan no Miko 04:41, 15 February 2012 (MST)
Okay, first of all, I NEVER even considered the possibility of imposing anything. Did I create that one single category before asking? Yes, but not with any intention to impose it. Like I said I have created categories in the past before asking about it first, I didn't thought it was a big deal until you explained it to me. I think I pretty much recognized that I was wrong and should have brought it up for discussion first. Also, I didn't say anything besides "I think" or "I believe" that this type of categorizing made sense, that's all. The "supposed to be" is based on the article: Sailor Moon (first season) itself alone which was written very long ago and is therefore (or so I thought) respectful of the style guidelines of this wiki, as I have stated and explained.
Second of all, I also recognized that you were also right about my initial proposition and that I stretched it too far.
Finally, in lights of your argumentation, I've changed my mind and the only thing I'm proposing now is to categorize episodes (perhaps also the Memorials since they are based on the seasons) by seasons for the reasons I've stated above and of course to fill the seasons' articles, also as explained above. That is it. Also, as for the SuperS Special, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) they are definitely part of the SuperS season since they take place right after Moon and Chibi Moon get the super upgrade from Pegasus and are therefore part of the story-line. --Sailorsimon 17:03, 15 February 2012 (MST)
I... didn't accuse you of anything. o_O I asked you on what grounds you said that the Sailor Moon R article was "supposed to be more than a simple listing of the seasons' episodes". Our style guidelines don't say that, so where did you get the "supposed to" from? That's all I asked. And if you were basing it on the first season article, just because one article is formatted a particular way doesn't mean all five articles of that type "should" be formatted that way. Actually, it's more likely to be the other way around. There are a lot of inconsistencies in style on this wiki because no guidelines were set down for a while, and I've slowly been trying to correct that, but if you find one of them please ask what the style is supposed to be rather than assuming; that will make things a lot easier. (Also please don't assume that I'm being hostile/defensive/accusatory when I'm asking a simple question because it's pretty much the opposite.)
Also, as I said, I'm inclined to agree with separating the episode articles into seasons, but things like the memorial videos? Yes, they're associated with a particular season, but they aren't actual episodes. Do they still go in that category, or do they stay in the base anime category? What about the movies? They're also not episodes. I'm inclined to re-categorize only the articles that are currently in the "Anime episodes" category and leave the rest as they are. Kerochan no Miko 22:37, 15 February 2012 (MST)
Your suggestion seems perfectly fine to me, except for a SINGLE detail: The SuperS Specials. While they are "specials", they are still just pretty much regular anime episodes that very much fit within the rest of the SuperS Season's plot-line; we know they are set basically after episode 130 and they fallow the basic elements of that current time in the season (with the right villains from that season (the Trio at the time)) without drastically deviating from them. Also, they are included in the Sailor Moon SuperS article. It would therefore only make sense to consider them anime episodes that belong to that specific season. I believe those three episodes constitute a fair exception and could therefore get their own little subcategory in the eventual Sailor Moon SuperS category; which was my idea all along to begin with. --Sailorsimon 00:18, 16 February 2012 (MST)
If, as you say, they should be included as SuperS episodes (which I don't debate, considering that they aired on television and such), why would they need their own subcategory? What's wrong with marking them as SuperS episodes? Kerochan no Miko 11:07, 16 February 2012 (MST)
Nothing, I just figured since they are "special episodes" which are not directly part of the season (seeing as their episode number are outside of the usual listing) and there's three of them it could be enough to justify a subcategory creation for them; which I guess is the same reason why they are separated from the rest of the episodes in the Sailor Moon SuperS article as well. Furthermore, I don't see the arm in creating that subcategory. I mean, they were specials after all. --Sailorsimon 12:43, 16 February 2012 (MST)
You don't see the harm, but I don't see the point. I really dislike setting a precedent like that because it seems like an entirely useless category; episodes are episodes and making almost-empty categories seems rather pointless. Kerochan no Miko 13:05, 16 February 2012 (MST)
Okay, fine. So I'll take it I can start creating those categories?--Sailorsimon 17:01, 16 February 2012 (MST)
It's done. Kerochan no Miko 19:08, 16 February 2012 (MST)

CAPTCHA

I didn't want to start a new page at WikiMoon:Administrators just for this, so I guess I'll ask here if that's okay. For a while now I've been getting these gaptchas thingies each and every time I made an edit, even minor ones. Before, AFAIR, it used to happen only when I posted an external link, and these links where either on talk pages or personal user pages, so it had nothing to do with my contribution to this site. I didn't mind it before because I was practically inactive for a year until recently, but now they're becoming quite troublesome, especially since my computer decided to start working so slowly (but only while I'm on this website and not on any other open tab, for some reason) sometimes making me have to reload the page and solve another question, which takes more time and can be quite annoying, to be honest. Not to mention when I get one of the many Internal Server Errors... anyway, is there a way to prevent the captchas?

BTW, the most common one is "Name of daughter of Usagi?" (yes, that's what it actually says) but I also get "What planet Black Moon Clan arrived from?" a lot. Silver (talk) 19:38, 26 October 2014 (MST)

I've never seen a captcha while editing, personally, and as far as I know they're only supposed to show up when you register a new account. I...honestly have no idea why you'd be seeing it. (And yes, the server has been insanely slow lately and I really don't know why - I don't host it, so there's not much I can do. :/) Kerochan no Miko (talk) 19:57, 26 October 2014 (MST)
Oh... okay. And I actually got two captchas before I posted the message above T.T oh well, it's not going to stop me from editing, that's for sure, but it's still annoying. Oh, and I'm glad (well, "glad") to know the server is slow for everyone, not just me, because I was starting to think there was something wrong with my laptop, which is quite new.
This time the captcha is about the guardianship of planet Earth (Mamoru). At least they are not too difficult... Silver (talk) 20:33, 26 October 2014 (MST)
It was installed by Mara to ward off bot spams, which'd become pretty severe. --210 (talk) 02:28, 27 October 2014 (MST)
So none of you are getting these? That's weird. And yeah, I saw in old edits that precede my registration you had quite a problem with spam at the beginning of the project. Also, I didn't mind having to solve a captcha when I posted external links, which I think is quite reasonable (and if I had my own site, I'd install them in situations like this, honestly) but for each and every edit, however small it may be... Oh well. Silver (talk) 06:43, 27 October 2014 (MST)
I also have to answer the quiz for every edit. The large-scale spam bot attacks I mentioned above occurred in the recent year or so. --210 (talk) 07:15, 27 October 2014 (MST)
Oh, I didn't see that myself. Okay. Silver (talk) 07:19, 27 October 2014 (MST)

Okay, I see why it's happening (and why I haven't been aware it was happening). I think I found a solution that will let real editors avoid the captcha while still keeping spambots at bay, so let's see how this goes. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 18:26, 27 October 2014 (MST)

Works for me. Thanks a lot. Silver (talk) 06:48, 28 October 2014 (MST)
The quiz questions have now been changed, but I still have to answer them for every edit. -210 (talk) 08:21, 28 October 2014 (MST)

10th Anniversary

Congrats for the 10th anniversary of this site! ^___^ --210 (talk) 08:16, 16 June 2016 (MST)

Yeah, ¡felicitaciones, WikiMoon! Here's a gratui— er, I mean, mandatory! congratulatory gif.
WikiMoon, go, go, go! Silver (talk) 10:20, 16 June 2016 (MST)
I stuck some thoughts up on the tumblr...suffice it to say, I'm amazed at how much has changed in the last decade. Thank you to everyone who's edited, and especially to those of y'all who've stuck around for a long time to help out. It's much appreciated. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 22:00, 16 June 2016 (MST)
That's sweet. For me it's been a pleasure - both rewarding and tremendous fun. :) Silver (talk) 10:31, 19 June 2016 (MST)

Anti-Spam

Had to make some permission changes to combat the recent bout of spam. If anyone has trouble editing, please let me know ASAP and I'll look into it. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 17:01, 11 August 2016 (MST)

Upgrades

There were some upgrades &c installed today, so if there's any lingering weirdness, please report it. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 19:54, 19 August 2016 (MST)

I can't load the pages of this site almost all of the time in the past few days - could that be caused by the upgrade or could you find out its cause & tackle it? --210 (talk) 09:42, 23 August 2016 (MST)
It's been a little slower for me at times, but I haven't had any problems like what you describe. Can you be more specific about when it happens and what pages you're trying to load? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 11:24, 23 August 2016 (MST)
Okay, I take that back, it did time out for me for a few minutes earlier. I talked to the site admins and they don't know what could be causing any issues - it could be a web hosting thing, it could be that our database is massive, not sure. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 19:04, 23 August 2016 (MST)
For the 1st time in the past several days, I can access here right in my 1st try today, & the system response time isn't sluggish too, so I guess it's just a temporary thing - hope it won't happen often. --210 (talk) 09:57, 24 August 2016 (MST)
