Changes

How often did you guys plan to change the stuff on the main page? Just curious.--Sakky 18:06, 14 October 2006 (MST)

New Main Page design

I went ahead with this since most of the links now lead to something. Also, the page is now protected, for obvious reasons. Dooky 00:59, 29 May 2006 (MST)

I like the new main page stuff. What were your thoughts on how often it would be changed? My thinking was we shouldn't change it more than once every month or two, unless the project starts to pick up a lot of steam.--WikiSysop 11:37, 14 June 2006 (MST)

I'd like to change it every few weeks, just to show we're an active project. Of course, right now there aren't many quality articles here... it'll certainly be a while before any of the major Senshi/villain articles are up to scratch, so for the time being we're stuck with minor or one-off characters. One we have picked up steam, I'd like to change the featured article once a week, but we'll also need to devise a system for choosing featured articles. There isn't really a lot of point putting such a system into action now though, as there's only a handful of contributors who'd be voting. Dooky 12:30, 14 June 2006 (MST)

The latest modification is neat. In particular, love the celestial symbols. 210 23:15, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Sorry for nickpicking, but I guess more line spacings above the new links in smaller fonts in the Sailormoon history box would make it look better. 210 07:25, 10 August 2006 (MST)

Only problem is... on any given day, the amount of content in that box could be one item, or three or even more. There's probably a way to make the text align with the bottom of the box, but I don't know what that might be. dooky 07:31, 10 August 2006 (MST)
Yeah, I've also thought that aligning w/ the bottom would be most ideal, but as you've said, the amount of contents for each day is variable, making it tricky. So how about just add a bit more line spacings? 210 07:41, 10 August 2006 (MST)
It might be an idea to add additional spacing to the days themselves, although I'm not sure how well this would work. I'll look into it. dooky 07:50, 10 August 2006 (MST)

The link to More unwritten articles doesn't work. I wonder how to fix that?--WikiSysop 00:17, 13 August 2006 (MST)

usagino0.gif WikiMoon with 1000+ articles usagino0.gif

WikiMoon will soon reach 1000+ articles and I was wondering if someone could make a kind of banner with a "1000+ hits" on it or something? I guess it's gonna be interesting to have new and fresh picture for each 1000+/2000+/etc. articles. They can be gathered in a separate page later on... and will represent the symbol of the SM fans' never-ending love and respect to the series. Just as a suggestion, what do you think? It may not be pic or banner, it could be anything. --StarFighter 05:13, 22 July 2006 (MST)

ahahah I've just read the last opinions, gomen >_< I was talking about the same thing ^^ --StarFighter 05:16, 22 July 2006 (MST)

I've been thinking about this, and I'd like to see different banners for different milestones. I wonder how many articles we'll create before we run out of things to talk about? The projected number of articles for my anime-only encyclopaedia is about 1600... but then I don't have articles on individual voice actors, the dub, fandom or other continuities.
But yeah. We want a banner for people to use on forums and the like to publicise the event, and a little award template for whoever makes the 1000th article. dooky 05:27, 22 July 2006 (MST)

I totally agree a small award will stimulate ppl to compete for the 1000th/2000th aticle (and not only). In any case, WikiMoon has nothing to lose, hahaha ^_^. The more, the better.

Oh, the "Silver Millenia Award"! (It just came from nowhere in my mind. :P) 210 18:35, 22 July 2006 (MST)

Who got it? lol 210.245.162.185 01:31, 27 July 2006 (MST)

Fact: the wikimoon SQL database, unzipped, is over 65 megs right now.--WikiSysop 03:38, 14 August 2006 (MST)

Soon we'll be at 25,000 hits on the front page.--WikiSysop 03:54, 6 September 2006 (MST)

Over 50,000 hits now on the front page. 25,000 of that in around 5 weeks.--WikiSysop 09:30, 16 October 2006 (MST)

As we're approaching the 2nd "millennium", anything planned? ^^ --210 22:27, 15 January 2007 (MST)

Yes we're going to sit around and panic as our SQL database hits 175 megs, which is probably going to hit a db size ceiling on GoDaddy at some point or another.--WikiSysop 08:48, 16 January 2007 (MST)

Featured article again

Miharu's been up there for a while now. Any suggestions for the next featured article? dooky 16:05, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Jadeite?--WikiSysop 17:06, 24 July 2006 (MST)

It needs some cleaning up, but it's a good candidate. dooky 17:18, 24 July 2006 (MST)
Not that he's biased, or anything.... :P We could always go with Sailor Mercury, I think that's the most fleshed-out senshi article thus far. Or maybe something from PGSM, Mio Kuroki perhaps? Someone obscure, like Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon? Or maybe an attack item or an attack itself? Kerochan no Miko 18:42, 24 July 2006 (MST)
You realize, of course, that Jadeite could destroy you. He could. Even frozen in a block. He's like texas, don't mess with Jadeite.--WikiSysop 20:35, 24 July 2006 (MST)
I have it on good authority that Jadeite likes to wait until there's nobody around, then put on a sparkly Sailor Fuku and parade up and down saying "Tee hee! I'm Sailor Neptune!" dooky 20:47, 24 July 2006 (MST)
If we can get a picture of that, I'm all for putting it on the front page. Kerochan no Miko 20:59, 24 July 2006 (MST)
One has to become his enemy to know them.--WikiSysop 00:23, 25 July 2006 (MST)

I was thinking about the so-called "Shippai-Sakuda" phage (a.k.a. Kengo onii-san) as the only phage who gets mentally confused by Rei's words... In a way that makes him unique of all others... But the article is not created yet o_O.

The previous two articles have been anime-only, so it would be nice to have something from the manga. The Papillon article is a strong candidate, I think: it's fairly complete and only seems to need minimal cleaning up. Plus she's a character some casual fans may actually have heard of ^_^ Get a picture in there ans we'll see what can be done. dooky 19:00, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Which episode should we have as the next featured episode? I suggest Bring a Smile to Naru's Face! Usagi's Friendship (heh I love Boxy) or Usagi is Frantic! Rei's First Date for its hilarity).

The one I wanted to suggest hasn't been written yet. Maybe I should do that...
Although, should we alternate between anime episodes and live action episodes? Or maybe even include manga chapters? Kerochan no Miko 11:15, 25 July 2006 (MST)
The anime has more episodes, so I guess we'll be having more of them, but we can certainly include PGSM eps and yeah, even manga chapters. The thing is that we have about 40 complete anime episode summaries, just a handful of manga chapters and no complete PGSM summaries at all. I'd certainly like to feature some of them though. What episode were you thinking of? dooky 11:32, 25 July 2006 (MST)
My first thought was Night Between Us! Usagi's Pinch because I just recently re-watched that one and remembered how much I liked it. But I can write the summary for that later. Protect Mamoru! Jealousy of Usagi the Ninja is another one of my favorites (love Usagi-ninja) but also, no summary yet. So basically, I just need to get writing.
But for a real suggestion, I've always liked The Sparkling Silver Crystal! The Moon Princess Appears. Kerochan no Miko 11:48, 25 July 2006 (MST)
Usagi's Pinch is possibly my favourite episode aside from Distant Days of Uranus. We definitely need to feature it at some point ^_^ dooky 12:07, 25 July 2006 (MST)
The episode where she gets drunk at a party is also a classic. Nice to meet you, cream stew!--WikiSysop 13:39, 25 July 2006 (MST)
I also really like the one in SuperS where Usagi and Chibiusa switch ages. Kerochan no Miko 14:19, 25 July 2006 (MST)

^ Oh, teenage Chibiusa is HAWT in that episode. Be sure to include a cap of her in the article! ^^ 210 17:28, 25 July 2006 (MST)

Is it time to change featured articles again? If so, I want to repeat my vote for Night Between Us! Usagi's Pinch since I went and wrote the summary for it. >_> Kerochan no Miko 20:05, 22 August 2006 (MST)

I'd approve that, as long as it had a picture added. Although I'd like to make PGSM episode featured ar some point in the near future too (I don't even like PGSM, but we should be even-handed really). The trouble is, we have way more worthy candidates for featured episode than we do for featured article, and I like to change them at the same time. So... any suggestions for featued article. It has to be reasonably complete, whatever it is. dooky 21:03, 22 August 2006 (MST)
Someone else will have to get a screencap for it, as I don't have DVDs. Let's save the PGSM episode until I get more summaries written. ^_^; And we could always make Jadeite the featured fairy article. Kerochan no Miko 22:18, 23 August 2006 (MST)
lol I also have the feeling that the PGSM Jadeite looks a bit like a fairy/elf. BTW, the PGSM episode articles also need pics. Anyone? 210 22:54, 23 August 2006 (MST)
I could put screencaps on the PGSM episodes, but most of mine are tv rips with the time in the corner, and I think it looks messy. :P Kerochan no Miko 22:55, 23 August 2006 (MST)

^ I understand that. So anyone else who (is rich & hence) has all the PGSM DVDs to do it? 210 23:04, 23 August 2006 (MST)

Regarding the Jadeite article... it's pretty informative, but it needs to be re-worded from an in-universe perspective. Since the last three featured articles have been on people, how about choosing one about an item or place. I notice the Sailor Moon in North America article is looking pretty good, so maybe we could consider that. dooky 02:39, 24 August 2006 (MST)
Moon Prism Power, Make Up? Sailor Moon in Sweden? Moon Stick? Sailor Moon in North America really does look good, too. --Kerochan no Miko 01:51, 30 August 2006 (MST)
Naah, Sailor Moon in Sweden is somewhat skeletal so far; I'm having a genereally hectic period so I haven't finished it yet, but it's supposed to be better than that. The other suggestions all look good to me. --Rosen 02:08, 30 August 2006 (MST)

Did You Knows

List any trivia for the front page here. dooky 06:18, 26 July 2006 (MST)

-that Moonlight Densetsu reached platinum; (Hitoshi Doi's page)

-that Sailor Star Song reached #7 at Oricon; I'm not sure for that one, was it from Doi again?

-that on the LD release of the S Movie there is an interview with Kunihiko Ikuhara;

-that the remastered version of all seasons included creditless OP & ED themes;

-that Sailor Moon and all of it incarnations have more than 1000 tracks/songs released over the years;

-that Sailor Moon won a JASRAC award for music

-that the S season ending theme "Tuxedo Mirage" was sung by the five main voice actresses;

-that the battle with Kaorinite was settled on Tokyo Tower, which is often chosen by Japanese studios;

-that in the NA dub Haruka and Michiru were cousins (^__^)'

-that sometimes SM animators like to play jokes with characters and real people from the anime's staff; You can check the Sailor Moon Inside Joke List for reference:

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/5976/injokes/

Was the Uranus and Neptune theme really played by Vanessa Mae? We can add this too. These are my suggestions, when anything else comes to my head I'll add it. Some look like statistics, but it seemed interesting to me.--StarFighter 16:27, 26 July 2006 (MST)

Regarding the Vanessa Mae thing: it's definitely a myth that she performed the Uranus and Neptune theme. Some people think this rumour sprang from a mislabelled mp3. However, I did read over at SailorMusic that she may have performed a studio library piece that was picked up by Toei and used in episodes 35 and 44.
I'd quite like to have an article on the Mae rumour. I generally despair of "Dumb Sailor Moon Rumours" pages since they're full of nonsense that not even a small child would believe (Chibi Chibi is Kunzite and Zoisite's daughter from the future! Ikuko and Zirconia fall in love!) but this is fairly unique as a rumour, in that it persists to this day, and is still on a lot of sites... dooky 16:41, 26 July 2006 (MST)
The Lohan rumor. lol 210 17:57, 26 July 2006 (MST)
To be fair a lot of work is put into those Rumour Pages, I used to submit to SMULC when it was still around and it had a rule of only accepting rumours from checkable sources like websites or magazine articles or something like that. There are some very bizzare rumours out there.... like the one that claims Usagi is Christian and her arguements with Rei are because Rei is Shinto O_o. GracieLizzie 01:07, 23 August 2006 (MST)
My problem with many of those sites is that they go for quantity rather than quality. I don't doubt that the 'rumours' come from genuine websites, but I often got the impression that they were just raiding crappy websites for every inaccuracy they could find. There were a lot of genuine rumours back in the day, but these seemed to be eclipsed on those pages by hundreds of entries that would be better described as "inaccuracies that appeared on one website". For something to be a rumour it has to be passed between people and repeated, and I just felt that the 'dumb rumours' pages turned into a sort of competition in the end as to who could fill their page with the most 'rumours'. dooky 01:58, 23 August 2006 (MST)

So it's really just a rumour *sigh* (but I'm glad I finally learned the truth). Ahahaha, that must be it - years ago I also downloaded an mp3 that had Vanessa Mae and Sailor Moon in its name (I was using DC++). At first I thought it was a remix or something, but when played it it was H&M's transformation theme... and I was kind of disappointed.^^ Later I encountered a thread where the users referred to it as the song that Vanessa Mae played o_O so I wonder who did that in the first place. It's a very persistent rumour that seems to have lived on...

Ah, the Lohan rumour!! How could I forget that!--StarFighter 18:33, 26 July 2006 (MST)

Typo

Admins, there's a typo in the current (Nov. 15) Sailormoon history box. --210 01:32, 15 November 2006 (MST)

I've corrected it. This could be a security breach tho. --210 01:40, 15 November 2006 (MST)
