Viz's Pronunciation of "anime"

I thought it was important to note that the voice actors in the Viz dub pronounce anime "onny-may" which is usually how otaku anime nerds pronounce it because they are attempting to imitate the Japanese pronunciation as opposed to the more common "ann-ih-may" in the English speaking world. 50.24.16.38 20:51, 9 March 2021 (EST)

1) "Otaku anime nerds" is... kind of rude. I mean, we're all watching the same kids' cartoon from the 90s here.
2) It comes down to your personal opinion that it's "weird" here, and opinion doesn't belong in articles. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 22:29, 9 March 2021 (EST)
Well, this is a talk page, so I'm expressing my opinion here a bit. I've seen so many otakus who feel so proud of themselves for saying "onny-may" instead of "ann-ih-may" like the "stupid" people who "don't know better" and think they are superior for pronouncing it the "Japanese way" (even though a native Japanese speaker would still think they sound like a gaijin trying to imitate their language). Since "ann-ih-may" is the more common pronunciation by English speakers, that should make it notable that they say "onny-may." The fact that many in the anime fandom are contentious over the pronunciation also makes it notable. I wanted to say something about how it's a common pronunciation within the anime fandom community within the article itself to flesh out why it's notable, but that would be getting too much into flame bait territory. It should be significant enough to say something like "In the Viz dub, the voice actor's pronounce 'anime' as 'onny-may,' imitating the Japanese pronunciation, as opposed to the more common English pronunciation of 'ann-ih-may.'" 50.24.16.38 23:38, 9 March 2021 (EST)
