We should start organizing and setting up this fandom section.

Right now things are all over (see the Fandom category for what I mean. It's a hodgepodge of random stuff.) The following doesn't have to be listed on the front page but is a potential rubric for organization. There ought to be a section for Fanfiction (important authors, circles like "Sailor Moon Expanded", more), for important Sailor Moon historical stuff (SOS, AFSM, etc), and other things.

There will also be WikiMoon Web, but I'm wondering if WikiMoon web ought to be a separate namespace. Right now I don't have a firm plan for WikiMoon web, which is a problem as we begin to write the fandom section. For the time being, let's think of WikiMoon web more as a links page than encyclopedia.

This brings up an important point about the organization of the fandom section, which is the separation of website from 'institution.' For example, when we discuss Save our Sailors, it is technically a website, but we're not interested in the site itself as much as we are the "group" Save our Sailors and its importance to fandom. Hence it doesn't go under WikiMoon web. This is going to be a case-by-case call.

As another example, Star Fox's page, while about a website, would fit under historical significance, as would Hitoshi Doi. Sailor Moon Expanded would go under fanfiction circles. Something like the podcasts, where its perhaps more recent or we can't justify its larger importance to the fandom, into Wikimoon Web.

It occurs to me that we should state outright that this Fandom section orients itself toward the North American/English speaking fandom. What's important to us, like SoS, isn't necessarily important to Japanese fans or Europeans.--WikiSysop 01:01, 16 August 2006 (MST)
