Long serial #s require larger-than-std column widths since the std ones would force them to wrap lines, making them confusing to the reader. Of course I can increase the std column width, but it'll lead to other problems in other tables. Since the "1st Unexpected Result" above has already led to "variable" column widths, I opt to increase the column width for them, & decrease that for the CD titles in order to maintain the std table width. --210 06:48, 4 October 2006 (MST)

I'm now on a desktop. It confirms my suspicion: (1) the Myu table isn't standardized; (2) the Super Moonies table is also a bit wider than the std one; (3) the serial #s in the NA table can actually be acccomodated in a std column. Since I can't do prolonged work here, & the tables look fine on my usual tiny display, I can't do anything for the above 3 conditions. So anyone who's interested pls go ahead. --210 01:20, 11 October 2006 (MST)

I'm a bit short on info on this, but there was at least one Italian CD, called Cristalli, Petali e Misteri per Sailor Moon. I found a sleeve scan and track listing on this page, though I can't decipher the description. Track #1 (and perhaps #7; I haven't heard it) was most likely a song written for the CD, while tracks #2-5 are the Italian openings used up to the SuperS season. Anyone else seen more about this one? --Rosen 10:17, 4 October 2006 (MST)

I've been translating a few of the songs in my spare time. I try to check the translation against Glover's when I'm done, I consider his, as well as sometimes VKLL/Studio C's translation of songs, to be the de-facto English versions.--WikiSysop 01:08, 12 October 2006 (MST)

Aya Hisakawa's cover of Moonlight Densetsu was unaired and mentioned under Trivia, but that's probably because her song's not released in any Sailor Moon albums, while the above songs are. As previously agreed in the Community Portal, I'll be placing some artist names beside certain songs in the tracklisting pages. The 3 songs in bold should have their respective artist names on the tracklist. For the rest, I won't be adding the artist names on the tracklist because the remakes/covers only appear, exclusively, on two single artist albums (Asakawa's and Pretty Cast's). I'm just saying this in case someone removes artist names that I've added to the tracklists. --Secretss 22:33, 11 May 2007 (MST)
 +
 +
 +
The songs are now grouped and separated by "---". The similarity within each group should be easy to see, thus the phrasing of the mentions of covers/remakes should be identical within each group, if anyone knows what I mean. I'm a sucker for consistency. Can we fix things and have a template like so:
 +
 +
ARTISTNAME PERFORMED a cover of THE song ON the CDNAME CD. as opposed to saying <br>
 +
"... SANG a cover of THIS song IN the ALBUM CDNAME.
 +
 +
I have no opinions about "performed" vs "sang" but I keep seeing "performed" so I'll use that term. Personally I prefer "THIS song" but since 99% of the articles I've seen use "THE song", I'm just following suit by using "THE". Again, I'm not really fussy about whether CDNAME comes before "CD" or after, I'm more concerned over the inconsistency due to multiple editing and lack of a fixed template. I'm not sure what the diff is between CD and album but I've seen 95% of "CD"s and I've been going with "CD" with all my edits and nobody's changed back to "album" yet so I'm just gonna go with "CD". In conclusion, I have no strong opinions about what words to use, I just want a fixed template. Wikimoon will keep having new editors and some may take an interest in SM Music like me, and without a fixed way of phrasing stuff I get a way messed up feeling. I'm a nitpicker for details; I'm sure everybody's annoyed with me by now =X --Secretss 23:55, 13 May 2007 (MST)

:I don't want to pass an Edict from On High and say "YOU MUST PHRASE YOUR SENTENCES LIKE THIS" because I see absolutely no reason to make people do that. I think if we're that picky then we'll turn into Wikipedia and make people afraid to dare edit an article.
 +
:Short answer: no. People can phrase things how they want, as long as it's grammatically correct, spelled correctly, and easily understandable. Kerochan no Miko 00:10, 14 May 2007 (MST)
 +

::Yeah? So why were my apparently passive phrases edited to your style when my phrases were grammatically correct, spelled correctly, and easily understandable as well? I worked hard all day going through 25 albums worth of songs to have things in consistent order. --Secretss 00:20, 14 May 2007 (MST)
 +
 +
:::Because I wanted to phrase them that way, as the use of passive voice is denigrated in formal writing. The point isn't that people won't edit them for rephrasing, it's that I'm not going to create a template that says they have to be written a particular way, like you asked. Kerochan no Miko 00:47, 14 May 2007 (MST)

:I also consider myself a sucker of consistency. lol But I also believe that everything has a limit & nthg is absolute. Yeah, "consistency" serves a purpose, but if we pursue it indefinitely, soon we'll cross a line beyond which the original purpose isn't served at all, if not even being contradicted. Yeah, I'm sounding abstract, & everyone has a different understanding of the exact location of that imaginary line (actually it's not a discrete "line" - it's a gradating "zone"), but the principle is that we should stop pursuing it somewhere, the exact location of which is up to the evolutionary consensus among users. For me, it's good to always allow for personal flexibilities under a consistency "regime," & I don't believe "perfect consistency" is feasible or even desirable. --210 02:04, 14 May 2007 (MST)

Romanized lyrics
 +
 +
Most Sailor Moon songs have english words in them but they're "japanized", like "torikkusutaa" for the english word "trickster". Sailormusic.net capitalises entire japanized words to differentiate them from the Japanese words. Some of the currently existing lyrics in wikimoon follow that system while some don't. Lyrics that I've added don't have capitalised words. I used to add the english words in [brackets] besides the "japanizations" but someone removed them all so I got the hint they're not supposed to be in the lyrics. Should we <br />
 +
1) follow Sailormusic.net's style<br />
 +
2) use a normal format while retaining the japanization<br />
 +
3) use the actual english word instead and forget about the japanization?<br />
 +
For the record, I choose 2. Something to note is that some lyric adders like to copy and paste from Sailormusic and then leave things as they are, but not everybody copies and pastes from that site (which remains to my knowledge the only Sailor Moon lyric site with capped japanizations), so either way a bit of work has to be done to maintain consistency. --Secretss 22:10, 11 May 2007 (MST)
 +
 +
:The way I've been doing it is to have the actual romaji of the lyrics, so if it's "seeraa" we write it as "seeraa" and not "sailor." I have no opinion on the capitalization, but it seems like the standard is to not have it. The translation, IMHO, is the appropriate place for the English words (unless, of course, there are English words in the lyrics, like for example in Innocent Demand or Kirari*Sailor Dream) which is why I removed them - the bracketed words just look out of place. ==Image songs vs Character singles==
 +
I've seen both, with "character single" in the majority. "Character single" isn't linked and doesn't have its own page while "image song" does. Both mean the same thing, so I don't get why term "character single" even appears here in the first place. Unless we're supposed to describe all the image songs as character singles while putting them in Category: Image Songs? --Secretss 15:03, 13 May 2007 (MST)

Starter page. Will add more CDs as time passes.--WikiSysop 01:31, 29 May 2006 (MST)

Is it possible to add a second table which would list the release date and catalogue number of each CD on this page?--WikiSysop 13:24, 24 July 2006 (MST)

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. What I'm guessing you want is making the lists under there now tables instead of a list? With each row having rhe name of the CD, date, and catalogue number? I don't see how this won't be possible. I can play with this if you'd like. --MarioKnight 15:49, 24 July 2006 (MST)
Seconded. And Sailorjupiter244's site would be an invaluable source of info for such tables. 210 17:04, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Dan, see what you can do. Something along the lines of what's up at the Compleat Sailor Moon CD List http://www3.telus.net/public/tuxbeej/ would be good.--WikiSysop 17:08, 24 July 2006 (MST)

Just browsed the site. It's a very good resource. But haven't found the PGSM ones yet. So I'm still recommending SJ244's site for that. 210 17:25, 24 July 2006 (MST)
I played a bit and I can do HTML tables here which can make it look how you want to with all that info. One question first. Using tables will kill the auto-number system in place, so I was wondering if the numbers there mattered that much to put them in myself, or to just scrap them altogether. And thanx for the link, I was wondering where the site's been hading nowadays. It seems to change places anytime I go a few months without visiting it. @_@;; --MarioKnight 19:52, 24 July 2006 (MST)
Don't worry about the numbers. Generally I use wiki-tables here, but if you can get HTML to work too, go ahead ^_^ dooky 19:58, 24 July 2006 (MST)
The HTML seems to work fine and has no problem with the wiki-code, so I'll start playing around with them and get it all going. I wish there were a way for me to use the wiki-tables, but it looks like you can only use tables by making templates, which wouldn't really help us here.--MarioKnight 22:45, 24 July 2006 (MST)
You can use tables without templates (I use small ones for inserting images into articles). There's an example of a big one I made in this article in the Suburban Senshi wiki. dooky 22:51, 24 July 2006 (MST)
Ah, very nice and easy to do. That's what I get for not looking too much into wiki-code. ^^;;; Anyways I'll get started on this page tomorrow before work, I've got to get some sleep now. --MarioKnight 00:55, 25 July 2006 (MST)

SM won JASRAC award, but I'm not sure was it two or just one. Does anyone knows? I think it was 2 awards, but I'm not sure.....--StarFighter 18:56, 24 July 2006 (MST)

So how do we use those tables?--WikiSysop 00:46, 7 September 2006 (MST)

Oops, somewhere along the way, I guess I forgot about redoing the page with the tables. Since this was back in July, I can't remember what had me distracted to forgot about them. I just made myself a note to do this (and more SMU comparisons) on my next day off, Wednesday. Sorry about that, I have no idea what happened. ^^;;;;; --MarioKnight 00:30, 12 September 2006 (MST)
Okees, have each section formatted to wiki-tables now with the catalogue numbers and release dates using Beej's site and the CD info from here. I may play around with the look of this to have it more crisp and such, but hopefully that will work for now. --MarioKnight 01:02, 15 September 2006 (MST)
Thx for your hard work. It looks neat. 210 04:43, 15 September 2006 (MST)

PGSM CD Resources[edit]

This site contains detailed info of PGSM CDs, among others:

[1]

210 23:49, 26 July 2006 (MST)

PGSM Singles Release Dates[edit]

I'm sure some of them are wrong since the singles weren't released on the same date as it's currently shown, e.g. Ami's & another one were released later, as I recall it. 210 04:43, 15 September 2006 (MST)

PGSM Singles' Serial #[edit]

Why only Usagi's begins w/ "CODC"? Highly suspect. 210 05:10, 15 September 2006 (MST)

Koro-chan Packs 1 & 3 got the same #. 210 05:19, 15 September 2006 (MST)

Page Formatting[edit]

Gokurosama deshita to MarioKnight for his hard work in setting up the page tables.

Let's discuss some of the formatting rules we'll probably want to set. I think the text, instead of being centered, should probably be set to the left of the column. We may also want to set a standard width for all the tables. Also, we should probably reference Beej's site since we got the info from there.

Opinions?--WikiSysop 04:54, 15 September 2006 (MST)

Left justification, std width & credit: all agreed. 210 05:07, 15 September 2006 (MST)

It'd also be nice, at some point, to have thumbnails of the CD covers in one of the tables. Perhaps it'd be copying Beej's page too closely but I think he was spot on with his layout.--WikiSysop 04:55, 15 September 2006 (MST)

This would liven up the look. 210 05:06, 15 September 2006 (MST)

Can someone who has more knowledge of how Wiki tables work than me figure out why the CD titles aren't left-aligning?--WikiSysop 00:49, 19 September 2006 (MST)

I've looked up how to use tables and can see why. Before I go through and change them all, I was wondering if we wanted to keep the CD titles bolded like we have now or not. I want to do only one long run of editting if I can help it. I'll get all this done before I head into work, it won't take that long, but I do want to head to bed now. ^^;;;; --MarioKnight 01:38, 19 September 2006 (MST)
I think un-bolding them is better since their font size is already small, making them less clear to read. 210 03:29, 19 September 2006 (MST)
Thanks again for all your hard work Dan. For me, bold was a good idea and you can leave it like that.--WikiSysop 05:48, 19 September 2006 (MST)
If you finally choose to leave it bold, I suggest to leave the titles under the PGSM box set normal-font as they are now. 210 06:10, 19 September 2006 (MST)
I decided to leave them bold, but I kept the ones under the PGSM box unbolded as suggested, and it all seems to work out well imo. Also put Beej's site as a reference on the page. I'll work on adding thumbnails at some point since they seem to be in demand. --MarioKnight 12:00, 19 September 2006 (MST)
Looking great Dan.--WikiSysop 13:23, 19 September 2006 (MST)

^ Same here. 210 18:02, 19 September 2006 (MST)

I've done a pilot std column width formatting on the PGSM section. Of course, there're pros & cons. So opinions? --210 03:59, 3 October 2006 (MST)

If no one objects, I'll reformat the other tables as per the PGSM ones, otherwise I'll revert my last edit on the latter for format consistency. (I currently think that it's, in overall terms, still better to have std width, but I might change that if I did the other tables & encountered unexpected results.) --210 18:06, 3 October 2006 (MST)
They look good to me. I put my vote for std formatting on the tables. --MarioKnight 00:35, 4 October 2006 (MST)
Ok, I'll do it the next couple of days (busy lately). --210 05:23, 4 October 2006 (MST)
But I managed to finish it tonight. :P My biggest regret is the Myu section tho (see below). --210 08:04, 4 October 2006 (MST)

1st Unexpected Result (Myu Section)[edit]

Long CD titles which require line wrapping disrupt std column widths, tho std table width is unaffected. I can tackle this, but it'll sacrifice the page links. Hence I leave the column widths "variable". Anyone who knows how to solve it pls do it. --210 06:13, 4 October 2006 (MST)

But this problem doesn't occur in the Drama section, which also has line wrapping of CD titles. Random coincidence? Curious... --210 08:19, 4 October 2006 (MST)
Ok, I'd to fine tune the parameters to solve this problem. This Wiki bug is so stupid. --210 18:58, 4 October 2006 (MST)
No problem now (see below). --210 06:41, 12 October 2006 (MST)

2nd Unexpected Result (NA Section)[edit]

Long serial #s require larger-than-std column widths since the std ones would force them to wrap lines, making them confusing to the reader. Of course I can increase the std column width, but it'll lead to other problems in other tables. Since the "1st Unexpected Result" above has already led to "variable" column widths, I opt to increase the column width for them, & decrease that for the CD titles in order to maintain the std table width. --210 06:48, 4 October 2006 (MST)

No problem now (see below). --210 06:41, 12 October 2006 (MST)

Expected Result (Super Moonies Section)[edit]

For various obvious reasons, this section is the black sheep of the family. Nevertheless, std table width is still maintained. --210 07:47, 4 October 2006 (MST)

Later found that the table is actually a bit wider than the std one. --210 06:36, 12 October 2006 (MST)

Final Result[edit]

I'm now on a desktop. It confirms my suspicion: (1) the Myu table isn't standardized; (2) the Super Moonies table is also a bit wider than the std one; (3) the serial #s in the NA table can actually be acccomodated in a std column. Since I can't do prolonged work here, & the tables look fine on my usual tiny display, I can't do anything for the above 3 conditions. So anyone who's interested pls go ahead. --210 01:20, 11 October 2006 (MST)

Just to confirm the above comment is mine. --210 04:59, 11 October 2006 (MST)

I've standardized the parameters for the tables mentioned in (1) & (3) above. Don't know how they look now on a std PC (my device shows non-standardized columns for (1) & line wrapping of serial #s for (3), tho all tables have the same width). Even if they still look wrong, it's a good starting point for anyone working on them. --210 18:21, 11 October 2006 (MST)
Everything looks std on my PC except for Super Moonies. Do we really need that chart ranking column in that table though? --MarioKnight 00:18, 12 October 2006 (MST)
Thx for your feedback. Concerning your question, I really doubt it. If it's agreed to be deleted, I'm happy to do it right away. --210 05:46, 12 October 2006 (MST)
I've deleted the rank column for overall consistency. If anyone insists to have it reinstated, pls discuss the reasons here & we might have it done so. --210 17:40, 12 October 2006 (MST)

I've fine-tuned the Myu table to make it look standardized on my current desktop. Anyone whose std device doesn't show it looking so? --210 23:29, 18 October 2006 (MST)

Confirming the above comment is mine. --210 03:47, 19 October 2006 (MST)
It also look so on another desktop (actually the title column, hence the table, is about 1 pixel wider, but this is the best result that I can come up with in getting around this Wiki bug). --210 01:43, 25 October 2006 (MST)
Confirming the above comment is mine. --210 05:20, 25 October 2006 (MST)
I'm now on a MacBook. It becomes much wider, but since it looks good on all the other notebooks & desktops that I've been using, I'm leaving the current settings unchanged. --210 04:54, 1 December 2006 (MST)
Confirming the above comment is mine. --210 05:58, 1 December 2006 (MST)
If you're using a Mac & you like to see the myu table's width aligned w/ the others, you may manually adjust the window width until it's aligned. lol --210 23:45, 23 December 2006 (MST)

Musical CDs[edit]

I'd thought that we weren't including subtitles in the Myu titles? Kerochan no Miko 21:20, 25 September 2006 (MST)

Italian CD[edit]

I'm a bit short on info on this, but there was at least one Italian CD, called Cristalli, Petali e Misteri per Sailor Moon. I found a sleeve scan and track listing on this page, though I can't decipher the description. Track #1 (and perhaps #7; I haven't heard it) was most likely a song written for the CD, while tracks #2-5 are the Italian openings used up to the SuperS season. Anyone else seen more about this one? --Rosen 10:17, 4 October 2006 (MST)

Song Translations[edit]

I've been translating a few of the songs in my spare time. I try to check the translation against Glover's when I'm done, I consider his, as well as sometimes VKLL/Studio C's translation of songs, to be the de-facto English versions.--WikiSysop 01:08, 12 October 2006 (MST)

Anime Singles[edit]

We have the PGSM singles listed on this page, but there's also a ton of anime single CDs, too much to cover here. Is there an extant anime singles page? If not, we should probably make one.--WikiSysop 08:47, 23 January 2007 (MST)

Just a reference list of songs with more than one version. Actually, I'm not sure why I put this up. It's mainly for my own reference I think =X --Secretss 22:00, 6 May 2007 (MST)

This is good! I think it's a good reference material for all of us. ^^ --210 22:24, 6 May 2007 (MST)
Thanks! I'm thinking of where to mention these covers. Most of these covers don't get aired on the anime; do we mention them under Song Details or Trivia? Aya Hisakawa's cover of Moonlight Densetsu was unaired and mentioned under Trivia, but that's probably because her song's not released in any Sailor Moon albums, while the above songs are. Do we all agree on placing the mentions of these covers under Song Details? Even if they were never heard on air? --Secretss 22:37, 6 May 2007 (MST)
I just think that your info above ought to be formally put somewhere in a similar format (maybe a table or sthg), but currently I've not much idea of where - as a new section in this article, a new article, or what? --210 23:08, 6 May 2007 (MST)
My opinion is, if it was never aired, it's trivia. If it was aired, it's song details. Kerochan no Miko 23:31, 6 May 2007 (MST)
Yeah, it's just like the Nana Kitade & Aya Hisakawa trivia notes here. --210 23:56, 6 May 2007 (MST)
Personally, I think that anything released on one of the Sailor Moon albums is probably worthy of inclusion in 'song details', since the albums were tie-ins with the series. Independently made cover versions are trivia, though. dooky 06:52, 7 May 2007 (MST)
Hmmm... The examples I cited in my last comment also fit such criteria... And I like this idea more. --210 19:02, 7 May 2007 (MST)
That works for me. Kerochan no Miko 19:10, 7 May 2007 (MST)
Uh oh, I'm lost. So which is it? All of Pretty Cast's covers are never aired but their album is Sailor Moon merchandise. How many votes for Pretty Cast in Song Details and how many for them in Trivia? --Secretss 14:12, 11 May 2007 (MST)
Since they were on an official Sailor Moon album, they should go in 'song details'. dooky 14:25, 11 May 2007 (MST)
Yeah, that's the current consensus we've reached. --210 18:08, 11 May 2007 (MST)

The songs are now grouped and separated by "---". The similarity within each group should be easy to see, thus the phrasing of the mentions of covers/remakes should be identical within each group, if anyone knows what I mean. I'm a sucker for consistency. Can we fix things and have a template like so:

ARTISTNAME PERFORMED a cover of THE song ON the CDNAME CD. as opposed to saying
"... SANG a cover of THIS song IN the ALBUM CDNAME.

I don't want to pass an Edict from On High and say "YOU MUST PHRASE YOUR SENTENCES LIKE THIS" because I see absolutely no reason to make people do that. I think if we're that picky then we'll turn into Wikipedia and make people afraid to dare edit an article.
Short answer: no. People can phrase things how they want, as long as it's grammatically correct, spelled correctly, and easily understandable. Kerochan no Miko 00:10, 14 May 2007 (MST)
Yeah? So why were my apparently passive phrases edited to your style when my phrases were grammatically correct, spelled correctly, and easily understandable as well? I worked hard all day going through 25 albums worth of songs to have things in consistent order. --Secretss 00:20, 14 May 2007 (MST)
Because I wanted to phrase them that way, as the use of passive voice is denigrated in formal writing. The point isn't that people won't edit them for rephrasing, it's that I'm not going to create a template that says they have to be written a particular way, like you asked. Kerochan no Miko 00:47, 14 May 2007 (MST)
I also consider myself a sucker of consistency. lol But I also believe that everything has a limit & nthg is absolute.

Romanized lyrics[edit]

Most Sailor Moon songs have english words in them but they're "japanized", like "torikkusutaa" for the english word "trickster". Sailormusic.net capitalises entire japanized words to differentiate them from the Japanese words. Some of the currently existing lyrics in wikimoon follow that system while some don't. Lyrics that I've added don't have capitalised words. I used to add the english words in [brackets] besides the "japanizations" but someone removed them all so I got the hint they're not supposed to be in the lyrics. Should we
1) follow Sailormusic.net's style
2) use a normal format while retaining the japanization
3) use the actual english word instead and forget about the japanization?
For the record, I choose 2. Something to note is that some lyric adders like to copy and paste from Sailormusic and then leave things as they are, but not everybody copies and pastes from that site (which remains to my knowledge the only Sailor Moon lyric site with capped japanizations), so either way a bit of work has to be done to maintain consistency. --Secretss 22:10, 11 May 2007 (MST)

The way I've been doing it is to have the actual romaji of the lyrics, so if it's "seeraa" we write it as "seeraa" and not "sailor." I have no opinion on the capitalization, but it seems like the standard is to not have it. The translation, IMHO, is the appropriate place for the English words (unless, of course, there are English words in the lyrics, like for example in Innocent Demand or Kirari*Sailor Dream) which is why I removed them - the bracketed words just look out of place. Kerochan no Miko 01:25, 12 May 2007 (MST)

Image songs vs Character singles[edit]

I've seen both, with "character single" in the majority. "Character single" isn't linked and doesn't have its own page while "image song" does. Both mean the same thing, so I don't get why term "character single" even appears here in the first place. Unless we're supposed to describe all the image songs as character singles while putting them in Category: Image Songs? --Secretss 15:03, 13 May 2007 (MST)

I'm gonna fix this when I come across one (& ain't distracted by other editings). --210 18:04, 13 May 2007 (MST)
It's a holdover from before the image songs article was created. Kerochan no Miko 18:05, 13 May 2007 (MST)
Ah, that explains it. So is "character single" staying or going? I only saw 4 songs (Luna!, Ai no Energy wo Ubae, Hottokenai Yo, You're Just My Love) described as image songs, and the rest were character singles. --Secretss 18:08, 13 May 2007 (MST)
Image song is the term that should be used. Kerochan no Miko 18:17, 13 May 2007 (MST)
Yeah, as I've already fixed one just moments ago. --210 19:16, 13 May 2007 (MST)
