Very interesting stuff! I must confess I've never even heard of this dub before... but then it must have been one of the last ones to appear - it premiered almost a full year after the last update of Arromdee's FAQ. o_0
Some details that aroused my curiosity:

• 52 episodes were broadcast... but no episodes were skipped in Germany. Does that mean the Dutch dub ended halfway through the Ail/An arc..?
• You say the Dutch opening lyrics are translated from the first German opening - "Sag das Zauberwort und du hast die Macht..." - does it also use the same melody (dubbed with Dutch vocals)?
• No voice actress is given for Sailor Mars. Is it known who did her voice? --Rosen 09:33, 27 August 2006 (MST)

Thanks, it surprised me Dutch television would even buy a series that old at the time, but it was a pleasant surprise. It aired very early in the morning (the new episodes were transmitted at 8:10 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the reruns of those episodes at 8:20 am on Saturdays and at 8:30 am on Sundays). I do not recall seeing any commercials or other ways of announcing the "new" series, so I think that and the early transmission time could have contributed to the series being pretty unknown in and outside of the Netherlands.

• Yes, unfortunately it did. I really don't know why they didn't dub any more episodes.
• It uses the exact same melody. I uploaded the Dutch opening sequence and could send you a link to it if you'd like.
• I still have to find out who did her voice. Me and some other people found out about some voices because we recognized them but I've never seen any credits for the Sailor Moon dub. Marjolein 10:23, 27 August 2006 (MST)

Word of God told me that the studio in charge of Dutch Sailor Moon was supposed to air the first three seasons of the show. In other words, airing 126 of the 199 episodes Germany released, Tough Kindness was supposed to be the last episode in the Dutch dub. 104.174.226.185 11:16, 20 October 2016 (MST)

Thanks, I have more video clips from the Dutch dub at my YouTube account if you're interested. I liked the Dutch dub; most of the voices were nice and the translation was reasonably close to the Japanese version. It was a bit sloppy at times though. They forgot to translate the German episode title at least once, they were not very consistent with names (Amy/Ami, Sailor V/Sailor Vijf) and they even forgot to insert speech lines once in an episode. It's weird to see Artemis (I think it was him) looking very serious and moving his mouth while not hearing him say anything. Especially when an other character responds normally to him.

Fascinating; I haven't watched my old German tapes in years, but it appears they have used the German OP animation up to the title screen, and then switched to the original Japanese one. The result seems longer too; I distinctly recall the German song being a bit shorter than this version. Is the subtext "het meisje met de macht van de maannevel" a straight translation of "das Mädchen mit den Zauberkräften" (the girl with the magic powers)? --Rosen 12:12, 27 August 2006 (MST)

Well, I think the opening animation is identical to the German version. You can watch the German opening here: German Sailor Moon Opening. Even the same font for the subtitle was used. The meaning of the subtitle is "the girl with the power of the moon nebula". If I would translate the German subtitle to Dutch it would be "het meisje met de toverkrachten". Yes, I think the word 'nevel' is the Dutch equivalent of 'Nebel'. It can also mean "fog" or "mist", like the German word. Marjolein 13:13, 27 August 2006 (MST)

Translation

About the translation of "Macht van de Maannevel, verander terug" - I freely admit that I don't actually know Dutch, but a dictionary is telling me that "nevel" should be "mist" and not "nebula" and that seems to fit the animation a bit better. Dutch Songs

If the rumor that the first three seasons being dubbed in Dutch was actually true, then "Anata no Sei Janai" wouldn't be the only song to be translated into Dutch for the dub. There would have been more:

• Hottokenai Yo! (would have been dubbed in Dutch)
• Eien No Melody (would have been dubbed in Dutch)
• Onaji Namida wo Wakeatte (would have been dubbed in Dutch)
• Ai No Senshi (would have been dubbed in Dutch for Episode 68, but either left in Japanese or removed entirely in Episode 102)
• La Soldier (left in Japanese, as opposed to removing song entirely like in German dub)
• Azusa Nigou (left in Japanese, as opposed to leaving song in instrumental like in German dub)

Let me know if I missed any other insert songs from episodes 53-127. Episode 89 doesn't count since it was not included in the German version.

the lyrics of the opening theme song, "Zeg het Toverwoord," were an almost-literal translation of "Sag das Zauberwort," the first German opening song which was sung by Mike Muyt in the Dutch dub.
Removed this edit because it doesn't make any sense. According to the Zeg het Toverwoord article, it was sung by Marlies Somers. Unless you're trying to say that Mike Muyt sang Sag das Zauberwort, which also doesn't make sense, because why would that be used in the Dutch dub when it's the German opening song?
