Um, that's not what I meant. I meant that "vertex" also means, in an astronomical sense, "a point in the celestial sphere toward which or from which the common motion of a group of stars is directed" and "the highest point reached in the apparent motion of a celestial body" and I think it's more likely to mean one of those than an obscure technical term for lens manufacture. While not ruling out the meanings you suggested, this Japanese word, as I know it, is used in astronomy for triangulation & optics (there're also some non-astronomy usage), & I only got the word "vertex" from a Japanese dictionary of optics, so I don't know if the Japanese word also has the same meanings as the word "vertex" in other areas. --210 06:26, 25 February 2007 (MST)
