Do we have a page for Usagi's 'thin' friend? (Was she named?) Hans says in the dub the thin one was named Brandy.--WikiSysop 07:49, 23 June 2006 (MST)

Is that the other girl in Episode 4? Dooky 08:53, 23 June 2006 (MST)
Hans (who's staying here) says yes. He says she's also in the same episode where the fat friend first appeared.--WikiSysop 09:18, 23 June 2006 (MST)

A trivia: In the mexican dub she was once reffered by the name of "Liz" a spanish diminutive for the name Elizabeth.

Kanji/kana name[edit]

How come there is a name given in kanji/kana if she wasn't given an official name in japanese? That just seems weird. I looked on the policy page but couldn't find anything about policies for giving japanese names (though that might be me being blind)... Lachesis 14:17, 25 September 2006 (MST)

The Japanese name says "Usagi's Fat Friend" if I'm reading it correctly. Her actual name is unknown, but I'm guessing she was called by that title in Japanese. Kerochan no Miko 14:25, 25 September 2006 (MST)
yeah, that's what it says... but it says in the article that "she was usually credited as 'female student' or 'girl'". Is there any source that says she's ever credited as "usagi's fat friend" in japanese? Otherwise it just seems like a theory that that's what she might be named, and I don't see the point of including that in the article, at least not without noting that it isn't an official name (and possibly not even then). Lachesis 14:35, 25 September 2006 (MST)
I agree with Lachesis on this.--WikiSysop 16:26, 25 September 2006 (MST)
I hadn't even paid attention to it until she pointed it out, but yeah, I'm kinda curious why it's there now. Dooky? Kerochan no Miko 16:34, 25 September 2006 (MST)
... And retaking the discussion: do we really need "うさぎのデブな友達" in the info box? It's quite the same than with the Star Tambo weapons' names --Silver 02:25, 5 September 2009 (MST)
Dooky is no longer active here, so it's time to treat that slot as per those similar articles Silver just mentioned above. --210 06:23, 5 September 2009 (MST)

Dub name[edit]

What's the source for her dub name being "Loraine"? Kerochan no Miko 13:38, 30 July 2011 (MST)

She was never named on-screen. The only source I could find was the IMDB Article [1] for the "Slim City" episode she appeared in. However, IMDB also have Kuri credited as "Lonna" and Yumiko as "Brandy" [2], which is where I assume WikiMoon got the mix up info from (that I corrected yesterday). But I don't know if IMDB can be an accurate source, or it's just that DiC didn't know they were the same character since her hair color changes ever so slightly episode-to-episode. Also, do we know how accurate "Behind The Voice Actors" website is? [3] They have Kuri as Kari [4], Yumiko as Yumi [5], Usagi's Fat Friend as Loraine [6] and Usagi's Skinny Friend as Brandy [7]. They also have plenty of mispelled character names as well that have been since confirmed by the 2000 DiC Sailor Moon RPG Game guide book. CorzaMoon (talk) 18:49, 24 November 2019 (EST)
Neither of those websites are valid sources. The RPG book might be. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 15:38, 25 November 2019 (EST)
Still struggling to find "Loraine" used anywhere apart from IMDB. I'll keep looking, but we may have to remove that name from the article at some point. In the Mixx Novels she is given the name Rica Kelton. That may be the closest we have to an official name for Serena's curly-haired friend. -Corza Moon (talk) 05:55, 23 April 2023 (EDT)

Image update[edit]

Here's a larger higher quality version of her profile image if you're happy to use it. [8] -CorzaMoon (talk) 04:51, 25 November 2019 (EST)

Dub actor[edit]

What is the source for the information that Colleen O'Shaughnessey voiced this character? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 18:26, 21 July 2020 (EDT)

Still no source given, removed again. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 15:13, 16 May 2021 (EDT)

Article Name[edit]

The anonymous editor went about it wrong, but they do have a point - is there a reason this character is called "fat friend" when even the article says she was usually called "female student" or "girl"? There surely must be a better phrasing for this article's title. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 14:55, 14 October 2020 (EDT)

Maybe we can call her "Usagi's Curly-Haired Friend". It's a bit lengthy but I do agree we need something not so harsh for this character. -Corza Moon (talk) 05:09, 15 April 2021 (EDT)
I have come across the settei sheets for season 1 and "Usagi's Fat Friend" is listed as "Female Student #1" (Josei to (1) = 女性徒①) and the skinny one as "Female Student #2" (Josei to (2) = 女性徒②). Did we want to update their article names to these and have the redirects in place, or are these too generic? -Corza Moon (talk) 22:00, 5 April 2023 (EDT)
I think renaming the articles "Female Student 1" and "Female Student 2" takes it into the realm of "why do we even have these articles," given how often those are used for random characters across the entire series. Honestly, if the articles hadn't been created at the very beginning of the wiki, they probably wouldn't even exist now - which leads me to think that maybe we should just turn this article into "Usagi's Friend," then get rid of the "skinny friend" article (since she only has one appearance) and just mention her existence here? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 17:44, 6 April 2023 (EDT)
Sure. An article for "Usagi's Classmates" would be great, and have the classmates listed here with links to the ones that got names, etc. It's a shame though that only Brandy (skinny friend) got a name in the first dub, as both of these girls did appear in a couple of episodes each. I have a list of "classmate" names that Mixx made up for their DIC novels, so I can add them here too, if you'd like. -Corza Moon (talk) 23:52, 7 April 2023 (EDT)
Oh, I like that idea! A general "Usagi's Classmates" article would cover the unnamed characters quite well.
Just to make it official, I propose that this article be renamed Usagi's Classmates and adjusted to include more than this one character. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 16:35, 8 April 2023 (EDT)
