Usagi and her friends visit the Moonlight Course skiing resort, unaware that Kunzite has sabotaged the Moon Princess Contest in order to unmask Sailor Moon.

Summary[edit]

Usagi discovers an advertisement for a skiing resort called the Moonlight Course, which is holding an event to choose the "Moon Princess." The others are keen to go, but worry about what Luna and Artemis will say. Minako suggests that they just lie to them. Yuuichirou offers to help with accommodation, as his parents live in the area. He evidently wants to come along too. Rei is unsure, but Makoto convinces her to let Yuuichirou come.

Meanwhile, Kunzite has correctly predicted that the Sailor Senshi will be interested in the Moonlight Course. Endymion warns him not to underestimate them, reminding him of his previous failures. Kunzite insists that it is none of his business.

The girls arrive at the resort, accompanied by Yuuichirou. Ami regrets leaving Luna and Artemis behind, but in fact they're fine, sleeping on Usagi's kotatsu. Yuuichirou's parents' house turns out to be huge, and Rei is amazed to discover that his family is so rich. Rei and Yuuichirou prove to be accomplished skiers, while the other girls are satisfied with the less extreme slopes. However, Usagi discovers that the Moon Princess Contest that she intended to enter is being held on the peak of a high mountain. Still determined, she decides to go through with it, with Rei as a competitor.

Kunzite appears next to the event's possessed host, Saeko Yamamoto. He tells her to watch out for girls who might be Sailor Moon. Meanwhile, Usagi, Rei and Yuuichirou head to the top of the mountain on a ski lift, Usagi thoroughly regretting her decision to enter.

Before the competition starts, Saeko explains that the winner will be the one who completes the course fastest and most gracefully. The contest begins, with Rei taking an early lead. Usagi remains at the starting line, afraid to start, but Yuuichirou gives her a helpful push. Finally, Saeko starts, and begins to manipulate the course. She creates snowdrifts that trip most of the leaders, apart from Rei, who notices an evil aura. Suddenly, Rei sees Usagi whiz past, unable to stop or slow down. Impressed, Rei accelerates. Saeko follows them, deciding that one of them must be Sailor Moon.

Saeko uses her powers to cause an avalanche, creating a giant snowball that chases Usagi and Rei. Yuuichirou hears the avalanche and goes to investigate. Meanwhile, Saeko changes to her Youma form, Blizzar, and causes an earthquake, leading Usagi, Rei and the snowball into a chasm. Yuuichirou jumps into the chasm and tries to save Rei by blocking the snowball's path. Despite his heroism, Rei fails to notice.

Blizzar tries to trap the girls by closing up the chasm. Usagi and Rei are only saved because the giant snowball prevents their section of the chasm from closing up completely. Rei tries to climb out, but the snow is too soft for her to climb. Usagi sits down and takes out Tuxedo Mask's locket. Rei eventually gives up and joins her. Rei tells Usagi that she has given up on Mamoru, and orders Usagi to be happy with him. She says that in order for that to happen, they have to defeat the Dark Kingdom. Usagi realizes that Sailor Mars' powers would be able to get them out of the chasm, so Rei goes to transform. She is interrupted at the last minute by Yuuichirou who emerges triumphantly from the snow. He tries to show the girls a way out, but they are confronted by Saeko, who transforms again into Blizzar.

Blizzar descends into the chasm and declares that Rei must be Sailor Moon on the basis of her looks and gracefulness. Yuuichirou leaps to protect Rei, but is frozen by Blizzar. Rei and Usagi seize the opportunity to transform.

Sailor Mars tries to use Fire Soul against Blizzar, but the Youma is too agile. Endymion suddenly appears, telling Blizzar that he will take over fighting the Sailor Senshi. He throws a black rose at Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars, narrowly missing them. As he prepares to strike again, Sailor Mars pleads with him to remember the one he loves, Sailor Moon. His rose fluctuates in color, changing back to red. Blizzar appears again, making a surprise attack on the Sailor Senshi. Endymion throws his rose and it shatters Blizzar's weapon, sending her crashing to the ground. Sailor Moon uses the opportunity to perform Moon Healing Escalation on her.

Endymion leaves, saying that killing them now would give him nothing to boast about. As Saeko recovers, Sailor Mars attends to the unconscious Yuuichirou, berating him for his stupidity then kissing him on the cheek.

Yuuichirou eventually wakes up and apologizes to the girls for not being of any help. Usagi assures him that he was cool, while Rei says that some Sailor Senshi arrived to help them. The other girls arrive, accompanied by Saeko, and Rei proceeds to tell them what a mess Usagi made of things. Usagi is furious, having just reaffirmed their friendship...

Episode trivia[edit]

  • Rei and Mamoru's relationship was said to have ended in this episode, although Mamoru apparently had no say in the matter.
  • The music playing in the background during the opening of the "Moonlight Princess" contest was "Hottokenai Yo." The song was replaced with an instrumental version in the Hebrew dub.
