Vega, also known as α Lyrae, is the fifth-brightest star in the night sky, located around 25 light years from Earth. A white giant, Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. The star was mentioned in episode 16 of the anime, where it was the star controlling the energy of Higure Akiyama. Nephrite used this knowledge to predict a peak in her energy, and planned to exploit and ultimately steal her life energy with the help of the Youma Widow, who was implanted into some fabric purchased by Akiyama. Shokujo, the personification of the star (also known as "Orihime" in Japanese mythology) also appeared in the manga special "Chibiusa Enikki - Tanabata ni Goyoujin!."
