Hikaru Sorano was a Codename: Sailor V-only character. She had been the best friend of Minako Aino since they were in elementary school together. She was very kind, and was the vice president of a volunteer club. She was also a fan of Sailor V, but did not know Minako's secret identity as Sailor V.
Hikaru also made a brief appearance in Minako's dream in the video game Sailor Moon: Another Story.

- In the original proposal for a Sailor V anime series, Hikaru was one of the characters who was listed.
- Hikaru bore a strong resemblance to Ami in physical appearance. According to the Infinity artbook, Hikaru Sorano was at one point intended to be the civilian identity for Sailor Mercury, but Naoko Takeuchi decided to make them separate characters.
