Summary

Part 1

Title card for the first part

As Usagi and Mamoru kiss, they see a shooting star in the night sky, one of many lately.

In a castle far away from Earth, a woman speaks ominously of the fate of the Golden Crystal, the Silver Moon Crystal, and the fate of the light destined to rule the galaxy.

Usagi wakes to her alarm, under a large poster of three famous idols. It is the day Mamoru leaves for America for school, and she cannot hide her tears. Hotaru arrives and Chibiusa runs out to meet her, then the three girls go off together. Usagi notices Hotaru and Chibiusa holding hands and asks about it. Hotaru points out that Usagi holds Mamoru's hand, and Usagi stomps off to meet up with Minako, Makoto, and Ami.

Haruka and Michiru ride past, sharing a bicycle with Michiru on the back. Michiru is excited to be going back to high school, but Haruka seems a little jealous of all the attention Michiru is getting. Setsuna is enjoying her job as the school nurse at Chibiusa's school. Minako invites Usagi out after school, but she declines. After school, Minako, Ami, Makoto, Haruka, and Michiru talk about Mamoru leaving. Minako mentions she had wanted to show her new Three Lights video to Usagi. They are the newest and coolest singing group consisting of Kou Yaten, Kou Taiki, and Kou Seiya.

Michiru is only slightly impressed with Minako because she has the inside scoop: the Three Lights are playing live at the Fantastic International Music Festival, and she knows about it because she is playing as well. Minako is very excited, and Makoto pokes fun at her, but Minako says they have a right to be happy after the last battle.

Usagi is trying to say goodbye to Mamoru at the airport. She tries not to cry. She says she will write every day and call, and asks him to come home once in a while. Before he leaves, he gives her a heart-shaped ring and they share a kiss. Mamoru begins to tell Usagi something very important, but then there is a flash and his body crumbles away before her eyes. His Golden Crystal appears where he was, and the hand of a woman in a strange golden metallic outfit grabs hold of it. When Usagi sees this, she faints.

Luckily, Kou Seiya is there to catch her as she falls. A crowd of people notice the Three Lights are there and run after them, but they escape in their limo. Usagi begins to wake up, and she notices the scent of fragrant olive, as Seiya tells her she is almost home. Usagi asks them to let her out where they are and then she wanders away in a daze. Yaten is insulted because Usagi did not even thank them.

The next morning Usagi meets up with the others. They ask about saying goodbye to Mamoru and ask excitedly about her ring. Usagi replies in a dazed tone that Mamoru had given her the ring, then he had gotten on the plane on his way to America. Her eyes are faded and distant.

Chibiusa was going back to the 30th century to see her mother and tell her about all that had happened; the others say goodbye to her and in a flash, she is gone. The girls wonder if it will be lonely without Chibiusa and Mamoru, but Usagi mutters that Chibiusa will not be gone for long, and that Mamoru will write and visit sometimes. Minako starts to notice how distant Usagi is acting.

The girls are at Michiru's concert as the Three Lights make a guest appearance. Usagi seems to be less in a daze here and wants to get a closer look at the Three Lights just like everyone else. After the show, the Three Lights introduce themselves to Michiru and compliment her. Seiya shakes Haruka's hand and tells her that they have much in common. As the Three Lights leave for an encore, Haruka is left wondering who these three are.

Suddenly, a new enemy breaks the concert atmosphere: Sailor Iron Mouse appears seeking Sailor Crystals. She can sense there are ten there and she goes after them immediately, using her attack, Galactica Crunch. There is mass hysteria as people run away, and the Sailor Senshi transform to fight. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune use their attacks Space Turbulence and Submarine Violon Tide, respectively, to block Sailor Iron Mouse's attack, but her final defeat comes unexpectedly at the hand of someone mysterious.

Star Sensitive Inferno flashes through Iron Mouse and destroys her body, before her bracelets fall and vanish. Three tall female figures appear standing in the spotlights. They are wearing black leather outfits with bikini style tops, short bottoms, and sailor collars. They then vanish without a word, leaving our heroes to wonder about them.

Usagi wakes up and wonders if everything was just a dream, before leaving the house. On her way out, she checks the mail even though she realizes it is too soon for Mamoru to have written. She mentally notes to herself that he had better keep his word or she will be upset. Kou Seiya sees her walking away.

A sparkle appears in the sky and a small girl with heart-shaped odango floats softly to the ground holding an umbrella. As she lands in a playground she sees flower petals falling around her, and follows them to find a woman in elegant robes lying on a piece of playground equipment surrounded by blossoms.

Ikuko is cleaning up the kitchen. She takes a cup marked "Chibiusa" and looks at it, wondering to whom it belonged, when suddenly the doorbell rings. The same small girl that came from the sky with the umbrella greets her with a smile and says, "Chibi Chibi?"

At the Secret Base, Usagi, Minako, Makoto, Rei, Ami, Hotaru, Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka are all together discussing what happened. Ami is concerned because the enemy mentioned they were Sailor Senshi and knew about the Sailor Crystals. Haruka is suspicious of the Three Lights, and discusses with Rei and Setsuna the possibility that they are not from this Solar System.

Usagi returns home to find Chibi Chibi in her house, and when she asks about her, her mother informs her that the little girl is Usagi's little sister. Usagi is less than pleased with what appears to be a repeat of Chibiusa's initial arrival. Later, the others come to meet Chibi Chibi and try to guess who she might be. They guess that Chibi Chibi might be Usagi's second child from the future, or possibly Chibiusa's daughter. Minako gets mad at Chibi Chibi for repeating everything she says. Later that night, Chibi Chibi visits Usagi in her room while she is dreaming about a second child with Mamoru. Chibi Chibi brings an incense burner that Usagi assumes she took from her mother's room. Usagi recognizes the scent from somewhere and the two of them fall asleep together.

The next morning, Usagi is excited to get an airmail letter from America. However, all that is on it is an image of a soft orange sunset, and nothing else. Still, Usagi is happy and even happier when Minako tells her the big news: the Three Lights are going to be attending their school. Usagi and Minako are very star struck. Makoto wonders why they do not go to a private school, and Haruka thinks it is because they are trying to approach them. Usagi sneaks off to write a love letter to Mamoru on the school's roof. The Three Lights go up there for a break and see Usagi there writing. Yaten makes fun of her handwriting and Usagi gets angry with him, saying it is none of his business. They see Usagi's ring, and Seiya asks about Usagi's boyfriend. She says he is in America to study, but then gets a searing pain in her head. Haruka comes to protect her and asks the Three Lights what they have done to Usagi. They say they have done nothing and leave. Usagi wonders if they did anything to her, but she feels that it has something to do with thinking about Mamoru.

The Three Lights start trying to fit in at school. They tend to be cooler and better than everyone at everything they do which provokes jealousy from Michiru, Haruka, and Ami. Nevertheless, Usagi, Minako, and Makoto are all still very interested in them. They decide to go to the next Three Lights concert because it is their duty, in case there is another attack. The song that the Three Lights perform, "Nagareboshi He," is very touching, and Usagi feels a deep connection to the words that Seiya is singing, but there is a dark face in the crowd.

Usagi is excited when she gets a card from America. This time it is of the night sky, and there is one bright star. As she wonders what it is, Seiya arrives, showing her the satellite in the sky. Usagi asks him if he likes stars and he says he does, and they talk about how hard it must be to be a famous idol and go to school. Seiya tells her that it's all right as long as they can sing, and Usagi tells him that she loves their debut single. Seiya tells her that is why they sing: to send that message. Then he sings a bit of the song. Usagi feels his power and wonders who he sings to. Ami, Makoto, and Taiki sense the power, but that dark face from the crowd senses it as well. Yaten and Taiki come bursting onto the roof shouting at Seiya not to use his powers, but they are too late.

Sailor Aluminum Seiren appears and uses her attack, Galactica Wave. Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter are there to defend against the attack with Mercury Aqua Rhapsody and Jupiter Oak Evolution, respectively. They accuse the Three Lights of calling Sailor Aluminum Seiren to attack Usagi, but Usagi knows they are not enemies by the powers surrounding them. Sailor Aluminum Seiren traps Mercury and Jupiter as Usagi transforms. Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Venus arrive, but Uranus' Space Turbulence attack does not harm Sailor Aluminum Seiren. Seiren tells the girls that she is also a Sailor Senshi with a Sailor Crystal, and she will not fail in getting Sailor Crystals for Galaxia. Everyone is shocked. Sailor Moon powers up Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss, but in a flash, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter dissolve into nothing before their eyes.

Sailor Aluminum Seiren grabs their glowing Sailor Crystals, and the Three Lights transform into the Sailor Starlights: Yaten becomes Sailor Star Healer, Taiki becomes Sailor Star Maker, and Seiya transforms into Sailor Star Fighter. Star Fighter's attack Star Serious Laser, combined with Star Maker's attack Star Gentle Uterus, eliminates Sailor Aluminum Seiren.

Sailor Moon, Venus, Uranus, and Neptune are in shock as the Sailor Starlights make their first formal introduction.

Rei's necklace breaks and her crows fly up. She, Setsuna, and Hotaru sense the loss of their teammates, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter, and the capture of their Sailor Crystals. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon, Sailor Venus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus have just found out that the Three Lights are actually the Sailor Starlights. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune are trying to piece together that these three are Sailor Senshi and Sailor Venus is very upset over Mercury and Jupiter. Sailor Moon is too stunned to speak. Neptune shouts to Sailor Moon to pull herself together and Uranus slaps Venus to calm her down. Sailor Star Fighter explains the obvious but horrible truth: Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter are dead and their Sailor Crystals, the origin of their powers, were taken by the enemy.

Sailor Moon, Venus, Neptune, and Uranus are shocked and speechless. Sailor Star Fighter addresses Sailor Moon, but Sailor Uranus steps forward with her Space Sword to protect Sailor Moon from the strangers. The Starlights do not seem to want a fight. They tell the Senshi that they will not be able to beat Sailor Galaxia and Shadow Galactica by losing their tempers. Sailor Star Fighter also tells them that they should not waste their energy. Sailor Neptune begins to ask if it's really true that Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter are gone, but in an instant, the Sailor Starlights leave and the Senshi are left on the rooftop, dazed and confused.

Back in civilian clothes, Usagi, Rei, Minako, Setsuna, Hotaru, Haruka, and Michiru meet up at the Secret Base. They piece together what little information they have, and struggle with the idea that their new enemies are Sailor Senshi. Sailor Moon thinks to herself that she does not feel like the Starlights are enemies, because they guarded her against Sailor Aluminum Seiren when she attacked. Minako wants to go to Shadow Galactica to save Mercury and Jupiter. Artemis wants to know how this invasion occurred without warning.

Luna informs the group about a meteor shower that recently occurred. She tells them that the Sagittarius Alpha meteor must have been their road in, and Setsuna confirms that there has been no disturbance in the Fourth Dimension. Haruka points out that they invaded the Earth as a star. Michiru offers to take Usagi home, and Haruka volunteers to keep an eye on the Three Lights. Rei tells Minako secretly that they are going to go confront the Three Lights the following day and see if they can find out whose side the Sailor Starlights are on. Rei tells Minako that if they are enemies, the two of them will fight find out where Shadow Galactica is. She tells Minako that Mercury and Jupiter aren't dead and that they can rescue them out of Shadow Galactica. She says they will protect Usagi and the Earth.

As Usagi walks home with Michiru, she makes an excuse to part ways and instead goes to see Mamoru's friend Asanuma to find out if he has heard from Mamoru at all, but he has not. However, after Usagi's explanations about the cards and her obvious sadness, he tells her that he will ask around the next day. Michiru can be seen in the background still following Usagi.

Usagi is still upset and finds herself calling Mamoru's old phone number. She feels like she is forgetting something, but when she tries to think, she gets confused. Chibi Chibi comes to comfort her, but she is still thinking of Mercury and Jupiter and how to save them. She thinks about how she feels about them, and she thinks about Mamoru. She begins to sway and faint, but Seiya shows up and catches her. Haruka and Michiru come running to her, but Taiki and Yaten are there and Taiki stops them by holding up a card showing an image of Mamoru.

Seiya tells Usagi that she has no time to waste and she must remember. He asks her what happened to Mercury and Jupiter, and what happened to Mamoru. The image of Mamoru's disappearance flashes in Usagi's memory and she screams in anguish. Seiya catches her, telling her he does not want to hurt her. Michiru and Haruka see the vision of Mamoru's death as well, and then Taiki shows them a card showing Sailor Galaxia. Usagi runs away crying, trying not to think about what it means. She thinks of Seiya and how he seems so much like Mamoru. The Three Lights watch Usagi as she runs away, wondering what it is about her that reminds them of someone else.

Usagi arrives at her house and there is another card in the mail, this one with a galaxy on it. Usagi thinks about the image and wonders if they are really from Mamoru after all. The card falls to the ground.

A massive many-pointed crystal is mounted high above a golden-armored figure standing in an unfamiliar room, while another figure kneels on the stairs below. The kneeling woman apologizes for the failures of Sailor Aluminum Seiren and Sailor Iron Mouse. The golden woman standing above is happy with the two crystals that were obtained. Then the figure below swears by the power of the Sailor Animamates that she will capture more Sailor Crystals for Galaxia before the final battle. Sailor Galaxia informs her that human Star Seeds are insignificant compared to Sailor Crystals.

From the darkness comes a new Sailor Animamate, Sailor Lead Crow. She tells Galaxia that she will drag Sailor Moon to her grave.

Somewhere far from this dark place, Hotaru observes that they may no longer be able to stop what is coming.

Meanwhile, Rei has dressed up in Minako's school uniform and Minako is wearing her gym clothes. They discuss Usagi and decide that as long as she can fake being happy she is fine for the time being. Rei asks Minako where they will find the Three Lights, and Minako whips out her Three Lights Super Secret Journal. She announces that they have lunch on the rooftop, but she is quite surprised to find the rooftop empty. While Minako frets about missing out on lunch, Rei muses that she wishes she went to school with the others. Minako notices Rei's troubled feelings, and Rei shows Minako the card she had pulled that day: the card of Death. She begins to tell Minako that this time it is different and that they will not win, but Minako takes her hand and silences her with a finger on her lips. Minako tells Rei that they have always fought together to overcome and they would do the same this time. Then Minako lightens the mood by expressing how great it will be to return to high school life and get boyfriends. While she is going on about how great life will be, she is interrupted by a mocking comment.

They turn defensively to find the Three Lights standing there, and see that Yaten had been the one speaking. He continues by reminding them that they already have someone that they have dedicated their lives to. Minako concedes that they are correct, and says that she has given her life to her one and only, as a vision of Usagi flashes in her mind. Rei also states that they don't actually need any men at all, and asks the Three Lights if they have a problem with that. Yaten states that he does not, and wouldn't expect less from a Sailor Senshi. Rei begins to ask about that when Yaten asks what they would do if they found out the Starlights were fakes. Minako informs them that they would be their enemies who would then be beaten. Then she and Rei transform into Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars.

Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars tell the Three Lights that they don't want to fight, they just want to know who they are, and ask them to transform. The Starlights do so, and Venus and Mars sense the power of stars from them. Venus and Mars tell them that they believe their powers are true, but they want to know where they come from. Sailor Star Maker gives Sailor Mars a card with a picture of the galaxy. Then the three of them leap off the roof and transform back into their civilian forms. Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus realize that the Starlights are from their galaxy, as a violent wind from the south picks up. Sailor Mars notes that it is coming from the direction of the Hikawa Shrine.

At the Shrine, the crows are flying around in alarm. Sailor Lead Crow calls out that she sensed their Star Seeds and orders them to show themselves. Two crows, Phobos and Deimos, change into their human forms and confront Lead Crow.

Sailor Lead Crow faces off against Phobos and Deimos, calling them lucky twins selected by the Princess of Mars. She declares that they were once in training together, but that times have changed and she is now a Sailor Senshi. Phobos and Deimos are shocked as Sailor Lead Crow informs them that she carries the Sailor Crystal for the planet Coronis, then attacks them with Galactica Tornado. Phobos and Deimos dodge the attack but they are completely surprised by her power. Sailor Lead Crow tells them that Sailor Galaxia has given her the power of a Sailor Crystal, and has promised to make her into a true Sailor Senshi, in exchange for the Sailor Crystals of the Senshi from this Solar System. She is a Sailor Animamate loyal to Galaxia, and Phobos and Deimos shout in anger that she has betrayed their mother star. Sailor Lead Crow tells them that Coronis has been destroyed, along with everyone and everything on it, and then she destroys Phobos and Deimos as well.

Sailor Mars arrives too late to save them, but attacks Sailor Lead Crow with Mars Flame Sniper. Lead Crow blocks the attack and gets Sailor Mars into a chokehold, then orders Sailor Venus not to move. Sailor Venus calls out to Sailor Moon, and Usagi, Michiru, and Haruka all sense her. Lead Crow taunts Mars and Venus, but Sailor Moon shows up and attacks with Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss, which destroys the Animamate. As Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars run to meet Sailor Moon, their bodies dissolve before Sailor Moon's eyes, leaving Sailor Galaxia standing there.

Sailor Moon has a flashback to Mercury's, Jupiter's, and Mamoru's deaths. The Three Lights sense the tragedy in their studio, while Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus watch in horror while Galaxia laughs, then vanishes with the Sailor Crystals. Sailor Moon collapses as the other Senshi call her name.

In Crystal Tokyo, King Endymion and Neo-Queen Serenity are welcoming Small Lady home when a sudden storm arrives and lightning strikes outside the Crystal Palace. Small Lady notes that the weather has been bad since she arrived back home, so she decides to bring some flowers to Sailor Pluto and ask her if anything is wrong. When she goes to the Space-Time Door, she overhears a conversation between Neo-Queen Serenity and Sailor Pluto, in which Pluto informs the Queen of a mysterious vortex releasing a lot of energy and disturbing the past. She tells the Queen that it could change the past. Small Lady is shocked; as Sailor Pluto begins to explain to the Queen what is happening in the past, they are disturbed by Small Lady rushing away, wondering what was happening and how far back. She worries if Sailor Moon is okay, and if she knows about the problem. She wants to go back, but Neo-Queen Serenity tells her that she has completed her training in the past and has a lot to learn in the 30th century. The Queen has returned the Time Keys to Pluto, and instructs Small Lady to go to bed, because her new training will begin the following morning. Small Lady is reluctant, but obeys her mother. She goes to her room, but she is very shaken about the new information. Diana watches her with concern.

Usagi rests while Haruka decides she, Michiru, and Setsuna should all go to their castles and put up a shield around the Solar System. Michiru says that they don't have enough power, and that it might upset the system balance. They decide to ask for the help of the Sailor Power Guardians, and to also ask for help from the Sailor Starlights, as they realize this battle goes far beyond their solar system. Luna and Artemis stay with Usagi and Hotaru while the others go off to their castles.

Ikuko lets the Three Lights in the front door and they go to Usagi's room. Seiya sees Chibi Chibi and seems to sense something, but Chibi Chibi runs off with Ikuko to get snacks. Usagi wakes up and is able to confront her memories of Mamoru's death at the airport. She realizes that she suppressed the memory, and remembers how Galaxia laughed as she took her loved ones away. Seiya informs Usagi that Galaxia is probably her strongest enemy yet, and Usagi asks where she is. She also asks why Galaxia, as a Sailor Senshi herself, would attack them. Taiki informs Usagi that Sailor Galaxia is not only after this solar system, but has attacked Sailor Senshi throughout the whole galaxy, perhaps because she wants to rule all of the Sailor Senshi. Usagi is surprised to learn that there are more Sailor Senshi in the galaxy. The Three Lights tell Usagi that their planet and their Princess were also attacked. Usagi asks them to tell her what happened to her friends, and Seiya tells her they are dead as humans.

Usagi is still shocked to hear this, but Yaten continues by telling her that while their flesh may be dead, the power of their Sailor Crystals will never die. That is why Galaxia is after the Sailor Crystals, because they are the true power. Luna asks the Three Lights to leave, as Usagi is trembling. On the way out Seiya catches sight of the incense burner that Chibi Chibi had brought to Usagi's room. He stops and turns to Usagi, tossing a card to her. He tells her that Galaxia is there at the center of the galaxy. Usagi then realizes that all this time the cards had been coming from Seiya.

Outside, Taiki asks Seiya if he is sure. Seiya says that he is sure about the scent and the incense burner.

The next day in class the teacher is calling roll and calls Minako's name, and Usagi tells the teacher that Minako is absent. Usagi falls into memories of her friends while the teacher introduces a new transfer student, Nyanko Suzu, who has returned from three years in Libya. Nyanko is quick to make friends with Usagi and is quite unimpressed with the Three Lights. Nyanko tells Usagi that she only trusts girls.

On the roof of the school, the Three Lights discuss the transfer student and how she is clearly alien, then disappear.

Meanwhile, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto all arrive at their respective castles. Pluto remembers that Queen Serenity of the Silver Millennium gave them their castles at birth. Guardian Pluto greets Sailor Pluto and informs her that there is a message from Princess Uranus. Uranus tells Pluto to prepare the shield, but Pluto wants to check on the Sagittarius meteor showers that have been raining on Earth for months. She finds that all of the meteors exceeded the normal velocity, and determines that the meteors were truly from outside their solar system. Sailor Uranus asks where the new enemies have come from, and Pluto tells them that they have come from the Milky Way. Sailor Galaxia appears from behind and attacks, but Pluto is able to protect herself. Guardian Pluto rushes to her Princess's help, but is immediately destroyed by the intruder. Galaxia launches another attack, and Pluto struggles to block it. Sailor Uranus is shocked.

Back on Earth, as Hotaru and Chibi Chibi are playing together, Hotaru senses that something is amiss and vanishes. Luna and Artemis realize that something must be wrong with the others.

Usagi stands on the roof of the school, struggling to cope with the idea that her loved ones are dead, while also trying to grasp the concept that Sailor Crystals seem to be more important than their physical bodies. Worried, she wonders what will become of them.

Artemis and Luna begin to sense a strange power similar to their own. Suzu suddenly hugs Usagi and startles her. She asks Usagi if she can come over later, but Luna and Artemis confront her, demanding she show her true form.

At Usagi's house, Chibi Chibi is sitting with the incense burner when the Three Lights arrive and order her to give it to them. Chibi Chibi refuses and stands defensively in front of the burner, but then a mist rises from it. The mist takes the form of the woman Chibi Chibi had seen when she first arrived on Earth, and she tells Chibi Chibi that it is okay, the Three Lights are her friends. The Three Lights are shocked to see this woman, and cry out, "Princess!"

Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten are elated to see Princess Kakyuu after she has been released from the incense burner that Chibi Chibi had been carrying. She is also very happy to see them, and tells them that she has heard their voices and wanted to go to them. Unfortunately, it had taken her longer to heal than she had thought it would. Chibi Chibi saved her and also told her about the Three Lights and Sailor Moon. Seiya is curious once more about who Chibi Chibi is, and Princess Kakyuu turns to Chibi Chibi and tells her that she senses the power of stars in her. She asks Chibi Chibi if she is also a Sailor Senshi. Chibi Chibi then shouts the phrase "Chibi Chibi Crystal Power, Make Up," and her outfit is transformed into a sailor fuku, complete with small wings.

Unfortunately, the latest Sailor Animamate Sailor Tin Nyanko has sensed the power of Star Seeds similar to the power from her home planet and goes after Artemis and Luna, calling them traitors. When she attacks, Luna and Artemis take on human forms and escape from her on the rooftop of the school. Tin Nyanko follows them and Usagi witnesses the chase, transforms into Sailor Moon, and goes after her to help her friends.

On the rooftop, Tin Nyanko uses her attack Galactica Puppet, catching Luna, Artemis, and Sailor Moon. Tin Nyanko introduces herself and Luna is very angry with her for using the holy name of a Sailor Senshi. Artemis is equally upset and asks why people of Mau would sell their souls to a stranger. Tin Nyanko tells them that they don't know anything and that they also betrayed the planet Mau. She tells them that Mau is gone, destroyed by Shadow Galactica. Luna and Artemis are stunned and Tin Nyanko gets very upset with them. She tells Luna and Artemis that she will win the battle so that she can have her bracelets removed, get her real body back, obtain a Sailor Crystal, get her own planet, and become a real Sailor Senshi. Sailor Moon realizes that Artemis and Luna are from Mau just as Phobos and Deimos were from their own mother planet, and they left those homes to help the Sailor Senshi. Diana in her human form appears and tries to stop the battle, saying that they are all from the same planet. Luna and Artemis are surprised to see her, but Tin Nyanko wastes no time in blasting Diana, forcing her back into her cat form.

In 30th century Crystal Tokyo, Small Lady is frantically searching for Diana.

Diana is unable to speak from the blast. Sailor Moon tries to talk some sense into Tin Nyanko, but Tin Nyanko releases another blast of energy which soars past Sailor Moon into Artemis and Luna, forcing them back into their cat forms as well. Sailor Moon runs and catches them, but feels they are all in trouble because of her. Just then, Sailor Star Fighter's Star Serious Laser rips through the air, forcing Tin Nyanko to retreat. Sailor Moon is surprised to see Chibi Chibi as a Sailor Senshi. Sailor Star Maker takes a closer look at the cats and invites Sailor Moon back to their place.

When she arrives, Usagi is introduced to Princess Kakyuu, the first princess of the planet Kinmoku. She informs Usagi that the Three Lights are the Guardians of the Kinmoku system and tells Usagi that she is very happy to meet the future Neo-Queen Serenity. Usagi asks how she knows about that, and Kakyuu tells Usagi that the beautiful light of the new Silver Millennium was felt throughout time and space. She tells Usagi that the cats need to be treated and that their Star Seeds have powers similar to the Sailor Crystals.

Seiya reports to Kakyuu that the enemy retreated and might not be under full control of the bracelets. Princess Kakyuu tells Usagi that she must help them. She says that the whole galaxy is in trouble, and that Sailor Galaxia has been using Sailor Senshi to attack planets with other Sailor Senshi. She has been taking the Sailor Crystals and destroying the planets, creating an empire called Shadow Galactica. She tells Usagi that those who had attacked her were not truly Sailor Senshi, and were in fact being controlled by the bracelets they wore. Usagi asks if Kakyuu's home world was attacked and destroyed. Kakyuu tells her that Galaxia is the Soldier of Destruction, and when she attacks a planet she kills every living thing on it. Kakyuu is caught up in a moment of grief before she tells Usagi the worst of it: every planet and every Senshi up until now has been a warmup for the Earth and Sailor Moon.

Usagi asks why, and Kakyuu tells her that it is because of the Silver Moon Crystal, the most powerful Sailor Crystal in the Galaxy. Usagi breaks down a bit under the knowledge that all of their problems come back to her and the crystal she carries, but she understands that there will be a battle. She asks where Galaxia is, because she has stolen the Crystals of those closest to her and she plans to get them back. Kakyuu tells Usagi that she will lead the way to the center of the Galaxy.

The Three Lights then begin to explain to Usagi that this Solar System is very special in the Galaxy, and while there are many other planets, there are no systems quite like this one. Taiki tells them that so many stars grow and die out. Usagi is a little confused, but Yaten explains that all living things grow from a Star Seed, including Sailor Senshi. Special Star Seeds become Sailor Crystals and get transported to selected planets to grow with them and protect them. Yaten explains that Sailor Iron Mouse had come from the planet Chuu, protected by Sailor Chuu. It was the same with the others: the planet Mermaid protected by Sailor Mermaid, Coronis protected by Sailor Coronis, and the planet Mau protected by Sailor Mau. Usagi understands and relates it to her solar system: the planet Mercury protected by Sailor Mercury, Venus protected by Sailor Venus, Mars by Sailor Mars, Jupiter by Sailor Jupiter, and the Earth by herself and Mamoru. She is shaken by the thought of him and Seiya goes to comfort her, but Usagi tells Seiya that she is fine and states that the battle with Galaxia awaits. Seiya wonders if Usagi has always carried such a heavy burden. Seiya kisses her hand and vows to be by her side to protect her.

Usagi thanks Seiya and thinks about her friends and how they would not have met if it were not for her being a Sailor Senshi. She realizes that without her Sailor Crystal she would not have been born. Usagi wishes aloud that their bodies could live forever. Seiya is touched by this and kisses Usagi, telling her that they are just reborn. Seiya offers to take Usagi and Chibi Chibi home but Usagi declines. Seiya watches them leave and accepts that her love for Usagi is unrequited and impossible because of their status difference.

On the way home Chibi Chibi takes a detour to the playground, despite Usagi's protests that it is getting late. Usagi reflects that Chibi Chibi is very strange but also quite sweet. She thinks about how she feels like she can communicate with her without even talking, and tells Chibi Chibi that she was surprised to find out she was a Sailor Senshi, too. She asks Chibi Chibi who she is and where she came from, to which Chibi Chibi simply replies that she is herself. Usagi is not satisfied with this riddle for an answer, but before she get a direct answer, the tinkling of a crystal rolling across the pavement catches her attention.

Usagi sees a woman standing nearby and she reaches down to pick up the crystal. She hands it to the woman who thanks her, then tells Usagi that she always has friends around her: that special Sailor Crystal attracts everyone. Then a tremendous blast of energy explodes from the woman and Usagi shields herself from it, amazed at the immense power. She wonders who it is and a vision of Kakyuu confirms her fears that this is Sailor Galaxia.

Usagi and Chibi Chibi are faced with the raw power of Sailor Galaxia, the force of which makes surrounding buildings begin to disintegrate, and Usagi realizes she can't hold out against it on her own. She silently calls to Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto, recalling that Luna mentioned they had returned to their castles. She sees a vision of Uranus', Neptune's, and Pluto's destruction and tries to convince herself it is just an illusion.

Regathering herself, Usagi summons the Holy Moon Cálice, determined to return everyone's Sailor Crystals and save the planet. Galaxia appears before her, though, whispering doubts that shake Usagi's confidence and cause the Cálice to melt away. Galaxia touches a finger to Usagi's forehead and she falls back into nothingness. Chibi Chibi takes hold of Usagi's arm and glares defiance at their enemy as feathered wings rise from her back. A shocked expression crosses Galaxia's face as the Holy Moon Cálice appears once more and the city is restored. Galaxia retreats for the time being. Having seen the dramatic flash in the sky, Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten come running and find Usagi unconscious with Chibi Chibi. The small girl tells them the enemy disappeared, and the Three Lights, noticing that the city was restored, are in awe at the power of the Silver Moon Crystal.

Sailor Galaxia sits a bar, sipping a drink. She is listening to a man in the bar talk about the birthplace of stars. He comments that if he could control that place, then he could control the universe and become a god. Disgusted, Galaxia sets her drink down and leaves, commenting that all she finds is trash and worthless planets. She believes she is a chosen one, gifted with great power, and she seeks a planet worthy of her. As she walks, she overhears a conversation between a man and a cloaked figure. The mysterious figure says that he knows the location of the birthplace of the stars: Sagittarius Zero Star. A voice calls to Galaxia, summoning her to the center of the galaxy, where Chaos will show her what she seeks.

Galaxia wakes up from her dream of the past and realizes that Sailor Moon will come to her for answers. She hopes it will not be long before both of their true powers can be revealed. As she is thinking, Sailor Tin Nyanko appears before the throne and asks forgiveness, begging for another chance. Galaxia disdainfully removes Tin Nyanko's bracelets and the Sailor Animamate crumbles to dust.

Usagi drifts through a strange darkness, wondering where she might be. She hears Galaxia tell her it is the Galaxy Cauldron, inside Sagittarius Zero Star, and also her grave. Galaxia's hand takes hold of Usagi's ankle and begins to draw her down, and she starts awake to see Chibi Chibi smiling at her. She looks around and sees the Three Lights and Princess Kakyuu as well, and is relieved it was simply a dream. She wonders what the Galaxy Cauldron is and thanks Chibi Chibi for pulling her from the nightmare. She is grateful to always have companions watching over her, but her thoughts grow darker as she considers how much everyone has done to protect her, the guardian of the Silver Moon Crystal. Usagi tells the Three Lights that the Sailor Senshi are more than just their Sailor Crystals; through their interactions with each other, their powers increase and they become stronger Senshi as well. Though she remembers Sailor Galaxia's earlier suggestions that she cannot succeed and their future will never come to pass, she steels herself, determined to make it happen. She decides that she must find Galaxia to end this battle.

Part 2

Title card for the second part

The next morning, Usagi's mother is surprised to see her daughter up and about very early. Usagi asks if they can keep another cat, and introduces Artemis and Diana to her mother. Their injuries from the battle are slow to heal, and she wants them to be protected in a safe place while she is gone. Ikuko agrees, and after Usagi leaves with a smile, remains in the doorway looking after her daughter, struck by the sudden feeling that Usagi will not return.

The Three Lights, Chibi Chibi, Usagi, and Princess Kakyuu meet in Ichinohashi Park, intending to visit the castles in the outer solar system, since none of the Outer Senshi have returned. Sailor Moon has never visited them before, because everyone always protected her on Earth, but she is determined to keep up with the others. The Three Lights, Chibi Chibi, and Usagi then transform. Sailor Star Fighter extends a hand to Sailor Moon and tells her it's all right for princesses to be protected, because that is how they become stronger. With great feathered wings rising from their backs, the Sailor Senshi take to the skies, on the way to the castles at Uranus and Neptune.

Miranda Castle and Triton Castle are both empty, with the communication systems broken. When they reach Charon Castle, Sailor Moon rushes inside and sees what happened to Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn. Sailor Moon learns that Saturn had come to Pluto's rescue, protecting her with Silence Wall, before attacking Galaxia with Silence Glaive Surprise. The attack, however, did not seem to harm Galaxia very much and she easily destroyed the two Senshi. She cries out, and Sailor Star Fighter tells her it is a recording, playing back images of what happened earlier. Sailor Moon covers her face with her hands, thinking that if the target is her Crystal, Galaxia should come after her and not her friends. She looks up at Princess Kakyuu, asking to go to Sagittarius Zero Star. She silently calls to Galaxia that she is coming.

Sailor Star Healer, Sailor Star Maker, Sailor Star Fighter, Princess Kakyuu, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon are floating in space with large white wings extending from their backs. Princess Kakyuu directs their attention to a very bright collection of densely packed stars ahead of them. She tells everyone that it is the center of the galaxy, Sagittarius Alpha Star. At the middle of Sagittarius Alpha Star is Sagittarius Zero Star, the place where stars are born. Sailor Moon ponders the meaning of this as Princess Kakyuu explains that everything in the universe was born from this place, including Earth and all of the people.

Sailor Star Fighter notes that Shadow Galactica is within Sagittarius Zero Star and wonders if Sailor Galaxia is trying to control the death and birth cycle of stars. Kakyuu states that it is likely the case, and they head off towards Sagittarius Alpha Star, unsure how far they will make it.

In the shadows, two figures cling to each other. One speaks of a light that is coming, and says that the battle will soon begin. The other reassures her, saying that she will protect her.

There is a sudden bright flash and the group finds themselves in front of a massive door opening before them and recognize it as the gate to Zero Star. Within the gate, a vast desert stretches out in front of them. The air causes them to cough and their throats to go dry, as a mysterious cloaked character appears from the mist on a small boat. She introduces herself as Lethe and invites the group onto her craft. Without warning, the desert becomes water and the boat is trapped in a whirlpool. Sailor Moon is thrown into the water.

Usagi awakens sitting on a swing in an undefined space. She is unsure where she is or how she arrived there, but a figure approaches her though the haze. It is Sailor Lethe, but she doesn't identify herself, instead asking if those cats belong to Usagi. Luna, Artemis, and Diana meow up at Usagi, as she tries to recall the answer to the question. Lethe then picks up the cats and suggests to Usagi that having a pet that dies is very sad and it might be better to just be alone in the first place. Usagi ponders this and tells Lethe that being alone is sad, adding that is the reason she has so many friends. Lethe asks if she hates to be alone, as she places the cats back on the ground. She then asks what kind of friends Usagi has, but Usagi seems unable to recall her friends. Lethe points to the ring on Usagi's finger and asks her if she has a lover. Usagi cannot remember who gave her the ring. In fact, she cannot remember who she is. Lethe tells Usagi that there is no value in memories, that their bodies are just shells for what it truly valuable: their powers. With that, she sends a blast of energy at the three cats and destroys them.

In Crystal Tokyo, Small Lady rushes anxiously to her mother. In the throne room, she sees the bodies of Luna and Artemis disappearing and she asks if Diana is really gone. Neo-Queen Serenity tells Small Lady that she has sent Diana to the past to investigate a disturbance. Small Lady begs her mother to tell her what is happening in the past and the Queen shows her the bodies of the Guardian Senshi, Sailor Pluto, and King Endymion. Their Sailor Crystals are glowing, and their bodies are disappearing; it's apparent to Small Lady that something terrible has happened and she tells her mother that she is going to the past. The Queen protests that it is far too dangerous, but Small Lady is resolved to help Sailor Moon. She calls out "Pink Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!" and transforms into Sailor Chibi Moon. The Sailor Quartet appears in a flash of light and joins her. The Queen gives her a Time Key and tells them to go to the other side of the galaxy.

Usagi remains lost at the swing set with no memories of who she is, but she is upset that Lethe can kill so easily. Usagi says that all were born to live, but Lethe replies that all with life were born to die. Sailor Lethe attacks Usagi with Galactica Myosotis Alpestris, but it does not kill her. Usagi asks why Lethe is trying to kill her, and Lethe replies that Usagi came to lose everything: her name, her memories, and her life. Usagi begins to remember her friends and her mission as Sailor Moon as Lethe approaches, telling Usagi that no one can defeat her in the River of Forgetfulness. She prepares another attack to kill Usagi, but Sailor Mnemosyne stops her because Sailor Moon is already hurt and Galaxia should make the final judgment.

Upon hearing "Sailor Moon" spoken aloud, Usagi regains her identity and reawakens in the river, transformed, calling to the others, but only awakening Chibi Chibi Moon. Lethe is shocked and angered that Usagi could regain her memories. Mnemosyne then uses her power to bring Sailor Moon and her friends to the surface. Lethe considers this a betrayal, but Mnemosyne insists that she just doesn't want to see Lethe hurt other Sailor Senshi. Mnemosyne then goes to Princess Kakyuu and helps her retrieve her memories by giving her water from the River of Memory. The Sailor Starlights are also conscious again and have their memories back.

Sailor Moon tells Lethe and Mnemosyne that she did not come to kill, only to retrieve her friends' Sailor Crystals. She asks where the crystals are, but Lethe tells her the crystals are not there, at the desert river that protects the palace of Shadow Galactica. The two Senshi introduce themselves and Lethe prepares another attack to kill them. Once again, Mnemosyne tries to stop her, but Lethe insists that killing them is the only way to achieve peace. She recalls how they swore allegiance to Galaxia after their planets found peace through death. She tells Mnemosyne that if Galaxia wins the battle there will be peace. Princess Kakyuu protests, saying that there cannot be peace under a soldier of destruction. The Sailor Starlights reiterate how many Galaxia has already killed.

Sailor Lethe asks Sailor Moon if there will be peace with her future, if her future will be without war. Lethe explains that Sailor Moon's power draws Chaos and perpetuates war so the future is the same either way. She ends by telling them she just wants the battle to end so that she can live in peace with Mnemosyne. Sailor Moon is moved by this and tells Lethe that if that is the case, Lethe must kill her. Everyone is shocked by this, but Sailor Moon explains that she came to end the battle, a wish that seems to be the same for every Sailor Senshi, no matter what the future holds.

Sailor Mnemosyne tells Sailor Moon to go. Sailor Lethe adds that it does not matter if Sailor Moon lives or dies, because there will always be war. At this, two figures appear, carrying long staffs. They are Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi. Sailor Phi dismisses the pair as useless fools as Sailor Chi raises her staff and destroys Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne. Sailor Moon is shocked, and Sailor Phi turns to her and her friends and attacks them. The Sailor Starlights combine their attacks to protect Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon, and Princess Kakyuu. They are able to stall Phi's attack, but once Chi joins her twin sister, they are overwhelmed by the blast of energy. Princess Kakyuu wants to help them, but Sailor Moon holds her back. The Starlights reassure their Princess that they are ready to sacrifice their lives for her.

Princess Kakyuu calls out to the Sailor Starlights as their bodies begin to disintegrate. As they vanish, Kakyuu cries out and collapses into Sailor Moon's arms. The Sailor Crystals are taken by Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi, and the two of them disappear in a flash. Sailor Moon remembers what Yaten told her about the Sailor Crystals, and she reminds Kakyuu that the Sailor Crystals of the Starlights will not disappear; if they regain those crystals, they could revive their bodies. With renewed hope, Sailor Moon, Princess Kakyuu, and Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon make their way towards the castle on the horizon. Unfortunately, when they approach the castle, it seems to vanish. Sailor Moon is frustrated, but she realizes that she is destined to find Galaxia, because she had been called here.

Within the castle, Sailor Galaxia stands in a long dress with her hair unbound, flowing around her. She can sense Sailor Moon's presence. Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi appear in her throne room and ask for forgiveness for the failures of Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne. They present the Sailor Crystals of those two as well as the Sailor Starlights' to Galaxia and the crystals fly up and are absorbed into a larger crystal above them.

Sailor Phi and Sailor Chi reflect on the beauty of the Garden Crystal. They say that they can sense the powers of all of the Sailor Senshi within it. They say that the bodies of those soldiers meant nothing compared to the powers they held, and that the powers without the body were minimal. Through using Sailor Galaxia's Lazurite Crystal, they explain, they are able to utilize the great power of the Sailor Crystals.

Sailor Galaxia tells Sailor Chi and Phi that once she has Sailor Moon's crystal, she will have the two most powerful crystals in the galaxy: her Lazurite Crystal, the most destructive, and the Silver Moon Crystal, with the powers of life. With these two crystals, Galaxia plans to rule the entire universe. Then, Sailor Chi and Phi leave to get more Sailor Crystals.

Left on her own, Galaxia prepares for the battle, and transforms into her Senshi form. She thinks that she will finally meet Sailor Moon, and a new history of the galaxy will begin at the place where destiny began. She walks through vaulted palace halls to meet with Chaos, telling it that the time Chaos has been waiting for has arrived, much to its pleasure.

Meanwhile, Sailor Moon, Princess Kakyuu, and Chibi Chibi Moon are stuck in a sudden fog. As it clears, they find themselves at a graveyard, the air filled with innumerable butterflies. A woman with large butterfly wings and a sailor fuku tells them that this is the final resting place of the stars. She tells her guests that the butterflies are the last flames of the stars and that the procession of them never ends. Princess Kakyuu catches sight of three tombstones with the faces of the Starlights on them and cries out, but the woman directs their attention to new graves being dug and asks if they too have come to lose their lives. She wonders aloud what color butterflies will fly next.

There are more tombstones with familiar faces on them: Princess Kakyuu, Chibi Chibi Moon, and Sailor Moon all have their own. Vines wrap around their bodies and pull them up into the air.

The woman tells them that she is the final soldier of the Sailor Animamates, the soul hunter, Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon, and that she will give them a beautiful funeral after the galaxy's hope is burned alive. She tells them all to suffer as flames leap up all around her captives, but then there is a flash in the sky. Chibi Chibi Moon sees it and seems to make a connection.

Sailor Chibi Moon and the Sailor Quartet appear and use their combined attack, Pink Lady's Freezing Kiss, to free their comrades. The Sailor Quartet performs their combined attack Amazoness Jungle Arrow to destroy Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon.

Sailor Ceres, Sailor Pallas, Sailor Juno, and Sailor Vesta introduce themselves as the Sailor Quartet and Sailor Chibi Moon announces herself. Sailor Moon is excited to see Sailor Chibi Moon, and Chibi Moon apologizes for not coming sooner. Chibi Moon tells Sailor Moon about what is happening in the future. She says that everyone's crystals were glowing and that their bodies were disappearing. Sailor Moon tells Chibi Moon that their crystals have been taken by Sailor Galaxia— not just the crystals of the Solar System, but crystals from Sailor Senshi from all over the galaxy.

Sailor Moon recalls Galaxia asking if the future she knows will come to pass, and becomes resolved to make the future with her own hands. She tells Chibi Moon that she will get their crystals back and revive their bodies and also adds that she is happy Chibi Moon arrived safely.

Sailor Chibi Moon tells Sailor Moon that she originally went to the 20th century Earth, but found no one was there and that Luna, Artemis, and Diana had already been killed. But then, she and the Sailor Quartet explain, a bright light brought them to the right place. She asks if Sailor Moon was the one who guided them here with her voice in the light.

Sailor Moon is a bit stunned and says that she doesn't have that kind of power. She explains that she came there by the power of Princess Kakyuu. Kakyuu says that she does not possess the power to have transported them that far. Chibi Moon wonders who could have done it, as Chibi Chibi Moon clutches Sailor Moon's leg with a puzzled look.

Sailor Ceres notices the unfamiliar Sailor Senshi and asks who she is, and Sailor Moon introduces Sailor Chibi Chibi. Sailor Chibi Moon clearly does not like the name, while Sailor Moon asks Chibi Chibi if there should be a "Moon" at the end of her name. Chibi Chibi Moon just stares in confusion. Sailor Moon tells the others that Chibi Chibi Moon came through time and space to get there like Chibi Moon had. She asks if Chibi Chibi is Chibi Moon's little sister.

Chibi Moon exclaims in surprise, and Sailor Ceres reflects on the fact that Chibi Chibi looks a little like the Queen and wonders if she might be a second child. Sailor Vesta adds that she heard that the Queens have only ever given birth to one child, and Sailor Juno and Sailor Pallas say they had learned the same thing.

Sailor Moon asks if the child then belongs to Chibi Moon, but Chibi Moon does not like this suggestion at all. Sailor Moon tells them that Chibi Chibi has not really told her anything about where she comes from or what she wants, but it is clear that she is an ally because she has fought with them and helped so many times.

Sailor Chibi Moon can sense that this young girl is not her child. She wonders if Chibi Chibi brought them to the center of the galaxy from Earth and compares her power to Sailor Moon's. Chibi Chibi hides shyly behind Sailor Moon, as the fog lifts and the castle of Shadow Galactica is revealed. It is a massive building of gothic architecture with a giant crystal at the top.

Sailor Chi and Phi appear again, welcome Sailor Moon and the others to the Star Garden, and introduce themselves as the Star Gardeners. Princess Kakyuu demands the return of the Starlights' crystals. Sailor Phi realizes that more Sailor Crystals have come to them and Sailor Chi and Phi prepare for an attack. Kakyuu wonders if the Starlights' crystals are within the larger, many-pointed ones behind the two Senshi.

Princess Kakyuu announces that she will fight too, and calls out "Kinmoku Star Power, Make Up!" Princess Kakyuu transforms into Sailor Kakyuu, the guardian of the Kinmoku Star. She calls on the power of the Starlights and uses the attack Starlights Royal Straight Flush, destroying some of the crystals around them. Kakyuu is stunned by the realization that the Starlights' crystals were not inside the crystals of the Star Garden. Sailor Phi attacks with Galactica Plants Blizzard, but Kakyuu counters it with Kinmoku Fusion Tempest and directs Sailor Moon to finish the Star Gardener off.

As Sailor Moon releases Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss and destroys Sailor Phi, Sailor Chi comes up behind Sailor Kakyuu. Sailor Chibi Moon tries to warn her, but Kakyuu is impaled by Sailor Chi's staff. Kakyuu falls to the ground as Sailor Moon cries out to her. The Sailor Quartet use their powers to attack Sailor Chi, but it is too late for Kakyuu.

Sailor Moon holds Kakyuu. Kakyuu tells Sailor Moon that she hopes, when the battle is over, that they will be reborn into a peaceful world. She asks Sailor Moon if she thinks she will be reborn again, and Sailor Moon tells her that she will be, because of the Sailor Crystals. Kakyuu says that the Sailor Crystals are their only hope and then she dies in Sailor Moon's arms.

Sailor Moon cries out her name and a staff strikes the ground. Sailor Chi is there, looming before them, and demands that Sailor Moon sacrifice her power and her crystal, because once she dies the battle will be over. Sailor Moon remains resolute and knows that there will always be battles. She stands up to Sailor Chi and tells her that she cannot have her crystal, but she will instead use its power to end the battle. She remembers Kakyuu's words of hope and tells Chi that Sailor Crystals are not for war and destruction, they are for peace, happiness, and rebirth. She reaffirms her belief in this as she raises the Eternal Tiare high in the air and destroys Sailor Chi.

On the steps of the castle, eight figures appear. Chibi Moon runs to Sailor Moon and pushes her away from Sailor Kakyuu, as her body is destroyed and her Sailor Crystal is revealed. The Crystal flies to the hand of a Sailor Senshi wearing a Galactica Bracelet, who takes hold of it. A voice tells Sailor Moon that they are her next opponents. The eight figures turn out to be the Senshi of the Solar System, all with bracelets on their wrists.

While the others are completely stunned to see them, Sailor Moon sees only her friends, and calls out to them with joy. However, Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon see their bracelets, as Tuxedo Mask appears from the depths of the castle's entrance. Sailor Moon gasps when she sees him and calls his name; Chibi Chibi Moon clings to her leg, trying to stop her, but Sailor Moon pulls away and runs towards her friends, oblivious to the threat.

Tuxedo Mask orders the Senshi to kill Sailor Moon and take the Silver Moon Crystal. Sailor Moon is stunned, and the Senshi prepare to attack. First, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars release Mercury Aqua Rhapsody and Mars Flame Sniper; the Sailor Quartet jump in front of Sailor Moon and try to shield her, but they are knocked to the ground. Sailor Chibi Moon cries out to her companions, and realizes the others are all being controlled. She tells Sailor Moon that if she removes their bracelets, they can turn back to normal. However, Chibi Chibi Moon grabs her hand and shakes her head furiously. As she does, Chibi Moon has a vision of the deaths of Mamoru and all the Senshi, their bodies burning away into dust. Chibi Moon is horrified and asks if these things really happened. Knowing this, she now understands that those in front of her are just puppets of Galaxia.

Sailor Jupiter attacks with Jupiter Oak Evolution and knocks Sailor Moon to the ground. Chibi Moon tries to tell Sailor Moon they are just more enemies created by Galaxia, but she is reluctant to believe that, because they are all using their own attacks. Sailor Pluto confirms that it is them, newly reborn, then attacks with Chronos Typhoon, knocking Sailor Moon to the ground once again. Sailor Uranus appears and calls on Sailor Galaxia for power, then raises her bracelet and calls out, "Galactica Space Turbulence!" Chibi Moon is hit by the attack and falls to the ground as well. Sailor Moon turns to her, and Chibi Moon reminds her that all of their friends were killed. Sailor Moon insists that it cannot be true, because her friends are right there, but Chibi Moon replies that Galaxia only revived their bodies to kill Sailor Moon and the others.

Meanwhile, Sailor Saturn attacks with Galactica Glaive Surprise, and Chibi Chibi Moon moves in front of Sailor Moon and protects her from the blast. Sailor Neptune joins the fray with Galactica Violon Tide. Sailor Moon deflects this attack and the blast causes damage to the castle. Sailor Moon is slowly beginning to realize that things are not as they seem. Saturn and Pluto combine their powers, and using the Silence Glaive and Garnet Orb, attack Chibi Chibi Moon with Galactica Cannon. She manages to briefly hold off the attack, but is ultimately knocked to the ground. Sailor Venus steps up and uses Venus Love and Galactica Shock to attack Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon counters, and as their powers collide, Tuxedo Mask becomes angry and turns to run back into the castle. Sailor Moon follows him, but remembers the look of his eyes and the bracelet, realizing that it is not really him. Before she can enter the castle the Guardian Senshi jump in front of her and attack with Galactica Gale, but she counters the group attack.

Outside, Chibi Moon cries out to her companions. If they fight each other, she wonders, who will be left to protect the Earth, the galaxy, and their future?

Sailor Moon uses Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss, but Venus counters it easily with a single hand. She mocks Sailor Moon's power, stating that the power of the so-called greatest Sailor Crystal was as soft as a gentle wind. Sailor Moon can only think of Minako, her friend, and feels she cannot fight them. All of the Senshi combine their powers into Galactica Planet Attack, which releases enough power to tear apart Sailor Moon's wings and shatter the Eternal Tiare. She falls to the ground, stunned.

Tuxedo Mask watches from afar and mocks her. Sailor Chibi Moon begins to panic and tries to go and help, but Chibi Chibi Moon stops her, saying that this is Sailor Moon's battle. Chibi Chibi Moon says that the future of the galaxy depends on this, and asks that Chibi Moon believe in Sailor Moon. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask gives the order for the eight Senshi to kill Sailor Moon. Sailor Chibi Moon calls out to Sailor Moon and Chibi Chibi Moon prays.

Sailor Moon rises to her feet once more, now resolute and determined. With a cry of "Silver Moon Crystal Power Therapy Kiss!", she revives the Eternal Tiare and blasts away the bodies of the eight Senshi before her. Tuxedo Mask is stunned at this power and, as their bodies vanish, the eight Sailor Crystals appear and join Tuxedo Mask as he retreats into the palace. Sailor Moon follows him inside.

Sailor Galaxia appears at the top of the stairs in her throne room and asks Sailor Moon how she enjoyed the act, welcoming her to the castle of the most powerful Sailor Senshi. Sailor Moon thinks that she has finally made it to Galaxia. Meanwhile, Galaxia comments on Sailor Moon's shine of anger, even though Sailor Moon is wounded, her wings broken. Sailor Moon replies that her power does not come from hatred, but instead is from her belief in the power of the Sailor Senshi. She says that she believes in the Sailor Crystals, and in her own power, and that they will be reborn. She reaffirms to herself that she is able to fight for the future she believes in.

Sailor Galaxia mocks her by asking if Sailor Moon truly believes in that future. Tuxedo Mask comes forward and kisses Galaxia on the lips, on her brooch, and on her foot. Sailor Moon cannot bear the sight of this and closes her eyes, crying out to Mamoru. Galaxia kicks Tuxedo Mask away from her and steps forcefully on his hand with the heel of her boot. Sailor Galaxia declares that this man, the power she has collected, and everything in the galaxy is hers, and if Sailor Moon wants it back she must fight for it. Sailor Moon firmly vows that she will fight and end this war, as she raises her staff. Galaxia uses her bracelets to summon multiple balls of dark energy and lunges them at Sailor Moon. She dodges them and flies around, as they chase her through the castle. She eventually returns to Galaxia's throne room and realizes that this was a distraction, as she sees Galaxia powering up an attack.

Sailor Galaxia launches Galactica Inflation, and Sailor Moon counters with Silver Moon Crystal Power Therapy Kiss. There is a massive explosion, and Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon activates her staff to protect herself and Sailor Chibi Moon from the battle. Chibi Moon realizes that Chibi Chibi Moon knew about the battle, and believes that because of this, the future must exist and they will win. She asks Chibi Chibi Moon who she is.

Just then, the battle shifts as Galaxia pins Sailor Moon to the ground, choking her. She tells Sailor Moon that she was born a nobody on a terrible planet and that her life was horrible. She was awakened as a Sailor Senshi, a chosen one, but believed that any ordinary Sailor Senshi is worthless, and that she needed the strongest star. She says that she has been searching for her star, and she has found it, but in order to obtain it, she needs the Galaxy's most powerful crystal.

Sailor Moon kicks Galaxia off of her and tells Galaxia that Senshi powers are to be used to protect and maintain peace and justice for those they love. Galaxia questions the idea of love and friends, saying that needing to be surrounded by others is a sign of weakness. She says the only thing worth believing in is the power within, the power of the Sailor Crystals. With this power, she says, even those who have been killed can be revived. Images of the Solar System Senshi appear in the Garden Crystal, but they vanish in a flash as Galaxia tells Sailor Moon how easily their bodies are destroyed. Sailor Moon gasps, but Galaxia presses on, insisting that Sailor Moon knows what she believes in, like love, friends, peace, and the future, is all an illusion.

Sailor Moon disagrees with Galaxia, saying that she could never understand how strong friends, lovers, bodies, and words could be. She says that she made it this far, and continues to fight, because of her desire to save her friends. She takes a stand and maintains this is what it means to be a Sailor Senshi.

Galaxia is first surprised, then angry; she makes the Garden Crystal and Tuxedo Mask vanish and then retreats, running farther into the palace. She wonders why Sailor Moon is the one who holds the Galaxy's most powerful crystal. She is determined to get Sailor Moon's power in order to destroy Chaos and rule the Galaxy. As Sailor Moon chases Galaxia, they arrive on the edge of a precipice which overlooks a basin with a glowing rainbow waterfall of energy flowing into it.

Galaxia declares this to be the holiest place of the stars, the Galaxy Cauldron. She tells Sailor Moon that everything, no matter how weak or strong, is born at this place. Sailor Moon is in awe. Sailor Galaxia tells Sailor Moon that this is the place where the chosen one will be victorious. She says that everything is made in this place, and here, everything will be lost. With that, the Garden Crystal appears and Galaxia raises it over the Cauldron. Sailor Moon cries out, but the other Senshi tosses the massive Crystal into the Cauldron, melting it and all the Sailor Crystals inside into the birthplace of stars, leaving Sailor Moon stunned. Galaxia observes that crystals from all across the galaxy are now melted into nothing, and exults in the feeling it gives her. She declares that the Cauldron is the most powerful and strongest star in the universe.

Sailor Chibi Moon and Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon arrive to see Sailor Moon frozen in place, staring into the Cauldron. Now that the Crystals have been melted away, she knows she cannot retrieve them and save her friends. She remains resolute, however, and resumes her assault on Galaxia, as Tuxedo Mask appears beside the powerful Senshi. Galaxia gleefully encourages Sailor Moon to grow more angry and awaken the true power inside of her, then with a casual gesture pushes Tuxedo Mask off the precipice into the Cauldron. Sailor Moon cries out Mamoru's name, and Galaxia tells her that once she knows the whole truth from Chaos, her power will overload and she will self-destruct and be destroyed along with Chaos. At that point, Galaxia says she will claim the Cauldron. Sailor Chibi Moon and Chibi Chibi Moon are stunned, and Sailor Moon continues to call after Mamoru as his body melts away into the Cauldron.

After he disappears, Sailor Chibi Moon also fades away. Sailor Moon reaches for her, then screams as energy explodes from her in a glowing column. Galaxia and Chaos are delighted to see it, and Galaxia uses Galactica Super String to forced Sailor Moon into the Cauldron and sacrifice her power to it. The attack is blocked by Chibi Chibi Moon, to the surprise of Galaxia. The eyes of Chaos appear and Galaxia addresses it, saying the strongest Sailor Senshi, Sailor Moon, will belong to it. She gloats that her time of ruling the galaxy has finally come.

Without warning, Chaos erupts and releases an attack that sends Galaxia plunging towards the Cauldron. Sailor Moon rushes forward and grasps Galaxia's wrist tightly, pulling her to safety into a protective shield around them. There is a powerful blast from below that cuts Galactica Palace in half, and Sailor Moon holds onto Chibi Chibi Moon with glowing wings growing from her back, while Galaxia lies on the ground beside them. Sailor Moon's power activates, releasing a powerful glow. Chaos reacts to the power, the strongest light in the galaxy, and desires to claim it.

Chaos introduces itself and tells Sailor Moon that it is the one that did not become a star, and now rules over the dark stars in the Cauldron. Chaos tells Usagi that she is the one who received the beautiful power of the light and destroyed all the dark stars; they were her kin, born of this place, and she made her name known by defeating them. Chaos laughs, but Sailor Moon is confused by this statement. Chaos says that all those she had called enemies were actually a part of Chaos itself, sent from this place through time and space to find the light. Sailor Moon is struck by this revelation, and she recalls all of the enemies she had defeated. Chaos tells Sailor Moon that her coming to this place is fate, that the darkness and the light draw one another. It says that they were destined to be together again like they were in the beginning.

Chaos calls for Sailor Moon to give over her powers so that it may finally rule over the entire cosmos. Galaxia regains consciousness and demands to know why Sailor Moon saved her. Sailor Moon is surprised, and Galaxia tells Sailor Moon to kill her. She realizes that she cannot overcome Chaos, and sadly thinks that her star was not to be found here either. Sailor Moon tells Galaxia that she saved her because she felt the sadness within her and didn't want to lose any more friends. Galaxia angrily shouts that she is the enemy, and this is war, but Sailor Moon says she cannot fight anymore with everyone gone. She tells Galaxia that she wasn't always fighting for peace and justice, but also for her friends. Without them, who should she fight for?

Galaxia wonders if war will end because the two last soldiers cannot fight, while Chaos' power groans around them. Sailor Moon thinks that is the thing she has been hoping for, but she didn't want it like this.

Chibi Chibi Moon comes to Sailor Moon and tells her that war will not end, and that it will go on forever. She tells Sailor Moon that she can end this war here and now by eliminating the source of all darkness: the Cauldron and Chaos.

Sailor Moon is taken aback. Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon tells Sailor Moon that the Cauldron and Chaos have become one, and that to eliminate Chaos, the Cauldron must be destroyed. Sailor Moon realizes that destroying the Cauldron would mean that no more stars could be reborn and that the galaxy would die out. Chibi Chibi Moon warns her that if she does not destroy it now, the wars will continue because of her inaction. She tells Sailor Moon that she will regret it.

Sailor Moon studies Chibi Chibi Moon. She observes that as long as stars are born, there will be war, and wonders if this the will of the Galaxy; does it mean that the end of all suffering must come from the destruction of everything? Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon shouts to Sailor Moon that it is the only way to end the suffering.

Sailor Galaxia adds that even if the Cauldron is destroyed, a new one will likely be born again. She says that light and darkness will be born again and a new future will begin. She is surprised that the idea of a "new future" can still exist within her. Sailor Moon agrees that a new future will always be created, that light and darkness, battles, hope, life and death, happiness and sadness will all come into existence again, because everything is part of this universe. Sailor Galaxia listens to Sailor Moon and is awed by her belief in the future of the universe. She thinks to herself that Sailor Moon might be the soldier that draws in all light, and believes that she has found her star, but it is too bright and out of reach. Her bracelets crack, and Sailor Moon reaches out to Galaxia. Her last thoughts is that Sailor Moon will always shine, then her bracelets shatter and she vanishes. Her brooch falls to the ground and Sailor Moon picks it up.

With tears in her eyes, Sailor Moon tells Chibi Chibi Moon that she will not give up. She tells the small Senshi that because everyone believed in her, she will make the future. She tells her not to give up either, that hope and the future will not disappear, and that she should believe, because as long as stars are born, they will be okay.

Chibi Chibi Moon begins to understand. A warm glow surrounds her, and her body transforms into that of a grown woman. She kisses Sailor Moon's cheek and the two come face to face. Her outfit has changed, and a bright star shines on her forehead. "Chibi Chibi?", Sailor Moon asks, shocked. Their hands touch as they stand in a bright light, and they realize they won't lose because they are Sailor Senshi.

Chaos reacts with fury and tells Sailor Moon that the Cauldron will be her grave, and this is the birth of the ultimate star, Chaos.

Sailor Moon stands resolutely and surrounds herself with a powerful light. In her mind, she addresses all her enemies: Chaos, Queen Metalia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, Queen Nehellenia, and Galaxia. She understands now why they had come for her. It was for the same reason that she always sought to be with her friends: because they are all lonely stars, longing to be one with each other. That was how they began. Sailor Moon says that she will now surround them, inside the Cauldron, to save everyone.

Chaos cries out as Sailor Moon descends into the Cauldron below. She uses all of the Sailor Crystals, including those of the living Sailor Quartet outside the palace who have just recovered consciousness, to perform her ultimate attack against Chaos: Silver Moon Crystal Eternal Power. The attack succeeds, and after Chaos' defeat, Sailor Moon's body crumbles into dust.

The Sailor Quartet arrives at the precipice and notices the torrent of light rising above them. The woman in the white sailor fuku explains that the Sailor Crystals stolen by Sailor Galaxia are now newly-born Star Seeds returning to their mother planets, and by the time they arrive they will have resumed their previous forms. Sailor Ceres realizes that this woman is Chibi Chibi. She asks if Sailor Moon used the power of the Silver Moon Crystal to achieve this. The woman tells her it is not, and explains that this regenerative power is the Cosmos Crystal's ultimate Lambda Power, made possible when all the Sailor Crystals united together in purpose. The Sailor Quartet wonder what this means, and they ask the woman who she is. She introduces herself as Sailor Cosmos, and Sailor Ceres asks if she is Sailor Moon's ultimate form.

The Quartet gets their Crystals back, and they ask Sailor Cosmos what happened to their princess. She tells them not to worry about it, as she has been reborn along with the others and will return safely to the future. She explains that Sailor Moon merged with Chaos during her final attack in an effort to absorb it, and both of them melted into the primordial sea of the Cauldron. However, Chaos was not completely destroyed in this process.

Sailor Cosmos reveals that she fled from a distant future and abandoned everything to come here through time and space and change the course of events. Images of monsters attacking the residents of Crystal Tokyo, King Endymion, and his army flash in her memory, as she explains that her history is littered with repeated massacres and a prolonged and arduous battle with Sailor Chaos. The Sailor Quartet is shocked to find out that Chaos will be reborn into a Senshi in the future. Sailor Chaos is very powerful and impossible to defeat, and the fighting against her seemed endless, as Sailor Cosmos explains. She tells the Quartet she didn't know what to do, but every time she felt lost, she would remember the battle she fought here and wonder what would have happened if she had actually destroyed the Cauldron.

Sailor Cosmos says that she wanted to convince her old self to choose a different path, but now she realizes that the decision she made was actually the right one all along. She resolves to never run from her battles ever again. She says that Eternal Sailor Moon, the true Sailor Cosmos, has given her this strength. If she were to ever become as brave as Sailor Moon, she will truly be Sailor Cosmos, she concludes. She sends the Sailor Quartet back to the future and then fades away, with new hope for the future.

Usagi wakes up surrounded by nothing but fog and absolute silence and is surprised to learn that she is alive. She wonders where she is and if her friends all disappeared. But then a hand reaches out to her from behind and Mamoru's voice calls her name. They both embrace and Usagi cries in joy. Others also call out to her, and the eight Solar System Senshi run towards Usagi as she is relieved to see them revived. Chibiusa also appears with feathered wings and returns to the future, saying that she will wait for Usagi in the 30th century.

Guardian Cosmos, the Guardian of the Galaxy Cauldron and Cosmos Seed, appears in a flash of light, and Usagi learns where they are. The small sprite-like being tells Usagi that long ago, there was a heavenly body possessing the same brilliance as her that came here, just as she did. The image of a distraught Queen Serenity, holding a small Sailor Crystal against her chest, flashes in the Guardian's memory. She concludes that Usagi's presence in the Cauldron means she must have thrown herself into it, and she offers Usagi a choice: she can either start life again as a new star, or go back to her everyday normal life in her current form. Usagi chooses to go back with everyone. Respecting her decision, Guardian Cosmos sends the group back to Earth. Usagi asks what happened to Chaos, and the Guardian says Chaos may one day rise again, but for the time being, its core is melted into the primordial sea and too small to be seen.

Usagi arrives at the front door of the Tsukino residence, where she runs into Shingo, who kicks her and calls her stupid, assuming she must have done something wrong again to end up outside. He laments that he wants a better sister, briefly upsetting Usagi before she forgives him and is just happy to see him. Shingo is weirded out by his sister's sudden mood swing, but Usagi brushes it off. Ikuko and Kenji are standing in the doorway and wonder what Usagi is doing outside, since dinner is ready. Usagi is relieved to see her parents as well. Luna jumps off of Ikuko's shoulder into Usagi's arms and welcomes her home.

At some point in the future, Mamoru kisses Usagi awake. She tells him she woke up from a long dream, and he wants to know what this dream was about. She begins to tell him, but is distracted as she looks outside the open window next to their bed and for a brief moment, sees the Crystal Palace in the spot where the Tokyo Tower would usually be. She then admits that she has already forgotten what the dream was about.

Usagi and Mamoru kiss in the chapel at their wedding, and as they hold hands together, Usagi says she senses a new star about to be born within her. They vow to always be together and protect one another, their loved ones, and the planet. They walk outside and join their friends, present to witness this joyful moment.

Outside the church, Mamoru thinks to himself that someday he will also disappear and new stars and Sailor Senshi will be born and slowly take the place of the old ones. But even then, he is confident that Sailor Moon will last forever and always be the brightest and most beautiful star.

Trivia

  • These movies were the final installment of the Sailor Moon Crystal series, and as such featured numerous firsts:
  • The terms "Star Seed" and "Stars of Darkness" were introduced.
  • This was the only installment of Crystal to feature Tomoya Takahashi as its director.
  • In the previous movie, Princess Serenity's hair was white, but in this one, it was blonde like in the first three seasons of the series. Similarly, Neo-Queen Serenity's hair was blonde in most of the third season and Sailor Moon Eternal, but here, it was white again like in the second season.
  • Like the previous movie, honorifics were included in the dialogue of the movie's English dub.
  • Also in the English dub, Seiya told Usagi that Galaxia attacked the Three Lights' princess on their planet and that "she" was destroyed, implying that Kakyu was dead, which contradicted her appearance later on in the movie. Sailor Pluto stated that Shadow Galactica's soldiers came from all over the universe, instead of just the Milky Way like in the original Japanese version. Yaten calling Chibi Chibi "Chibikoro" (ちびコロ) was changed to "Chibi Wibi."
  • In the German dub of the previous four arcs of the series, all of the crystals' names were translated literally, regardless of whether they were Japanese or English in the original. In these movies, while the Silver Crystal/Silver Moon Crystal, Golden Crystal, Pink Moon Crystal, Lazurite Crystal, and Cosmos Crystal were still translated, the terms "Star Seed," "Sailor Crystal," and "Garden Crystal" were left in English. Like the previous movie, honorifics were included in the dialogue, but the transformations and attacks were left in English again like in the first three seasons. Also in the movie dub, Yaten calling Chibi Chibi "Chibikoro" was changed to "Mini Chibi."
