When Ikuko is attacked by Hawk's Eye, Sailor Moon must once again rely on the mysterious Pegasus for assistance.

Summary[edit]

Pegasus appears to Chibiusa in a dream. He begs for help before darkness overcomes the crystal forest he mentioned before, and instructs Chibiusa to summon him whenever she is in trouble. Before she can respond or ask him any questions, Pegasus vanishes and Chibiusa wakes up.

Usagi arrives home later that afternoon. She recognizes the smell of her mother's freshly baked lemon pie and rushes to the kitchen, only to find that Chibiusa and Shingo have already eaten all of it. Although Ikuko divided the pie into three equal pieces, Chibiusa confesses to having eaten Usagi's share. Usagi is furious, and when Ikuko tells her to act her age, she accuses her mother of favoritism. To everybody's shock, Usagi suddenly bursts into tears and runs away. Afterwards, she meets her friends at Fruits Parlor Crown to vent her frustration. While Rei mocks Usagi for making a fuss over nothing, Makoto and Minako patiently reassure Usagi that her mother does love her. Ami finally points out that because Chibiusa is still very young and misses her parents, it is okay to spoil her occasionally, and suggests that Usagi should go a little easier on her.

At the Dead Moon Circus bar, the Amazon Trio sorts through photographs of potential holders of beautiful dreams. Fisheye teases Tiger's Eye about having lost his "touch," as he has failed to woo his victims twice in a row. Hawk's Eye suggests a subtler approach: to deceive them with gentle words before attempting to seduce them. Expressing a preference for older women, he selects a picture of Ikuko.

A worried Chibiusa watches the sunset from her bedroom window, wondering where Usagi could be and if she's still angry with her. She goes down to the living room to find Ikuko organizing the family albums. Ikuko describes the pictures as records of her dream, which is to see her children grow up happy and healthy. Pictures from Usagi's childhood amuse Chibiusa, though she can't help but notice that there aren't many photos of herself. However, when Ikuko selects a picture of the whole family together (including Chibiusa) as her favorite, the girl is touched, then saddened when she finally voices her regret at picking on Usagi. Ikuko comforts Chibiusa and suggests she apologize as soon as Usagi returns.

Walking around Azabu-Juuban, Usagi reflects on what Ami said earlier. She concedes that she should try to be more understanding, as it must be difficult enough for Chibiusa to live away from her parents, and decides it's time to go home.

In the meantime, Chibiusa and Ikuko are walking through the park on their way home, having decided to buy more lemons to make another pie for Usagi. Watching from the bushes, Hawk's Eye, who has disguised himself as a civilian, causes the bag to tear open, spilling out lemons all over the ground. Hawk's Eye comes out of his hiding place and starts to help Ikuko pick up the lemons, only to feign shock when he looks into her face. He claims Ikuko looks just like his long-lost mother he was separated from at birth and has been looking for ever since, and to prove it he produces a locket with a portrait of his "mother," who bears an extreme likeness to Ikuko. He then pretends to collapse from hunger and asks Chibiusa to find him some food to get rid of her.

Chibiusa runs into Usagi and informs her of the incident. They return to the park in time to see Hawk's Eye reveal his true identity and remove Ikuko's Dream Mirror. Usagi and Chibiusa transform and face Hawk's Eye, who summons his Lemures, the human cannonball Do Kanko. As Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon stare at her in bemusement, the Lemures cleans her cannon, loads herself inside, and lights the fuse. She shoots herself at the two Senshi, who are removed from the impact point in the nick of time by Venus Love-Me Chain: the Sailor Team and Tuxedo Mask have arrived.

Do Kanko rises from the ground unharmed and shoots herself at the Senshi again. Sailor Jupiter fails to stop her with Sparkling Wide Pressure, forcing the Senshi to continue jumping out of the Lemures' way. As Do Kanko chides her opponents for dodging her attacks, Sailor Chibi Moon uses Pink Sugar Heart Attack to stop Hawk's Eye from looking inside Ikuko's Dream Mirror. Chibi Moon declares she won't let him harm Ikuko, who is like a second mother to her. An annoyed Hawk's Eye attempts to push Chibi Moon aside but is tackled by Sailor Moon. She uses Moon Spiral Heart Attack against Hawk's Eye, but he easily neutralizes the attack and uses his fire-breathing ability to blast the two Senshi. Do Kanko takes the opportunity to attack again, knocking down the rest of the Sailor Team and Tuxedo Mask, who are all caught off-guard. Hawk's Eye is finally free to inspect Ikuko's dreams but is disappointed at not finding Pegasus inside. He orders Do Kanko to finish everybody off, starting with Ikuko, and the Lemures aims for her Dream Mirror.

Determined to save Ikuko, Chibi Moon prays for Pegasus to lend her a stronger power, and a bright golden light radiates from the sky in all directions. Pegasus' disembodied voice speaks to Chibi Moon, saying that only her heart which is trying to protect beautiful dreams can call for him, and transforms both her and Sailor Moon's brooches into the Chibi Moon Compact and the Crisis Moon Compact, respectively. Chibi Moon instructs Sailor Moon to call out "Moon Crisis, Make Up" and the two of them permanently power up into their Super forms. The Spiral Heart Moon Rod is transformed into a new rod, the Kaleidomoon Scope, and the Pink Moon Stick into a bell, the Crystal Carillon. Raising the Carillon into the air, Super Sailor Chibi Moon uses Twinkle Yell, causing Pegasus to materialize; then, just as Do Kanko is about to shoot herself from her cannon, Super Sailor Moon uses Moon Gorgeous Meditation to destroy the Lemures. Hawk's Eye retreats, impressed by their power, and Ikuko's Dream Mirror is returned to her body. Pegasus tells Chibi Moon to use the Carillon to summon him any time she needs before disappearing again.

Later that evening, Ikuko bakes a new pie for Mamoru and the girls. As they prepare to eat it, Usagi and Chibiusa start fighting over which of their slices is bigger than the other. Mamoru argues that it's difficult to cut a pie into equal pieces anyway, which prompts Ami to use math to determine the exact angle at which the slices should have been divided, much to Minako's chagrin. Rei chides Usagi for being picky, and chaos ensues as everybody begins to quarrel with each other until Ikuko yells at them to stop. Mamoru and the girls quietly taste the pie, which everybody finds delicious, and Ikuko is delighted. As her mother laughs, Usagi asks Chibiusa in a low voice who she likes more, her future mom or Ikuko, to which Chibiusa replies that she likes both. She asks Ikuko for seconds, but Usagi protests and the two of them start arguing again.

Episode trivia[edit]

  • In the German dub of this episode, Moon Spiral Heart Attack was translated as "Macht des Mondes, verwandle ihn zurück" (Power of the moon, transform him back) instead of the usual "Macht der Liebe, flieg und sieg" (Power of love, fly and win); the former translation was normally the one used for Moon Healing Escalation and Moon Princess Halation. Venus Love-Me Chain was also translated as "Kette der Herzen, flieg" (Chain of the hearts, fly) instead of "Feuerherzen, fliegt" (Fire hearts, fly).
