But isn't it also an attack? I'm confused. ?_? 210 07:48, 10 August 2006 (MST)

I'd class it as an attack myself (it's certainly more of an attack than Sailor Planet Power), but I dunno... dooky 07:53, 10 August 2006 (MST)
Oops. I was categorizing a bunch of articles at once and for some reason I thought that since it wasn't technically a sailor power, it should be in magic instead of attacks. I've fixed it. --Purplefeltangel 08:04, 10 August 2006 (MST)

Where did it appear as a fireball in the manga? Kerochan no Miko 11:09, 3 December 2006 (MST)

She used it to burn Jadeite alive, and shot another one at Nephrite's shadow in Act 4. - Sailor Biccy 11:24, 3 December 2006 (MST)
Yes, but did it appear as a fireball, or did it set them on fire? Kerochan no Miko 12:00, 3 December 2006 (MST)
Just checked act 4. She yells "Akuryou Taisan!" and fire shoots out of her hand, but doesn't affect the shadow. - Sailor Biccy 12:13, 3 December 2006 (MST)
Is the fire shooting out of her hand in fireball shape then? --210 17:41, 3 December 2006 (MST)
In Act 4 it looks like this:
akuryoucw8.jpg
I'm not seeing any fireballs - light as it strikes the target, which could very well just be power. I don't see "fire". Kerochan no Miko 19:08, 3 December 2006 (MST)
Hm. In the reprint, atleast, it looks like fire. :/ I'd scan it, but the piece of crap broke long ago. *kicks it* EDIT: Yep, just checked the reprint. She has fire around her hand in that panel you scanned. - Sailor Biccy 21:26, 3 December 2006 (MST)
"Fire around her hand" still is not the same as "the attack is in a fireball shape". Kerochan no Miko 21:37, 3 December 2006 (MST)
Any scan of the revised edition anyone so we can see if it looks like a "ball"? (If so, it could be an alignment w/ Mars' similar attacks in PGSM.) --210 22:05, 3 December 2006 (MST)
I'd like to, but my scanner's broken. :/ I'll try to get a picture with my digital camera... Here we go: MarsEdit.jpg

Best I could get without getting my thumb in it. - Sailor Biccy 22:37, 3 December 2006 (MST)

^I still don't see a "fireball" anywhere in there. I can barely see "fire" in that smudge of screentone. Kerochan no Miko 22:40, 3 December 2006 (MST)

Thx Biccy for the pic. Well, that's definitely fire despite the poor pic quality (my display shows a graded grid pattern resulted from "screentone conflict", a printing industry jargon). A cluster of fire around her hand but, yeah, no "ball" yet. It could be similar to the initial stage of Mars' powered-up attack in PGSM, in which she starts to generate fire in her hands before "compressing" it into a fireball. However, if the manga doesn't show the ball after this frame, I think we've to accept that there's no "ball". Opinions? --210 04:41, 4 December 2006 (MST)
I think it's entirely possible that the fire we're seeing is from the impact of the attack - it's been shown to set things on fire in the anime, IIRC, so it makes sense it would happen in the manga as well. But IMHO, if there isn't specifically a fireball shown we shouldn't say there is one. Kerochan no Miko 10:05, 4 December 2006 (MST)
Yeah, the fire around the top left hand background could be the resultant impact, but the fire around & in front of (from the perspective of readers) her hand could still be the one generated by her in the attack. All in all, there seems to be no fireball here - whether from her hands or from the impact. --210 18:08, 4 December 2006 (MST)
It's my personal belief that Akuryo Taisan appears as the talisman only as a civilian and as a fireball as Sailor Mars, but this is just speculation. It only appears as a talisman in the anime and the fireball is replaced by Fire Soul. Likewise, in PGSM, Akuryo Taisan appears as a talisman (albeit, with fire involved) and Youma Taisan appears as a fireball, but it's at least closer to the manga. Here's a picture from the English manga where Sailor Mars uses Akuryo Taisan and appears as a fireball. It is in one of the final Acts of the original manga arc. That looks like her similar attack in PGSM (actually it's also like Goku's in Dragon Ball lol). --210 21:22, 27 October 2007 (MST)
Here's a picture of how Akuryo Taisan looks in Act 3 of the English manga. It helps the "Akuryo Taisan" is a fireball theory. WaterKnight 17:17, 15 December 2007 (MST)

Does anyone have a shot of that scene from the original Japanese manga... or even the newly revised manga with the PGSM attack names? I am beginning to wonder if Youma Taisan is anywhere in the new manga. WaterKnight 13:37, 11 November 2007 (MST)
So you mean if Youma Taisan (new manga) = Akuryo Taisan (old manga), it'd further support the fireball theory since Youma Taisan in PGSM is a fireball? --210 19:06, 15 December 2007 (MST)
Maybe, but those shots from the English manga show Akuryo Taisan as a fireball... WaterKnight 19:25, 15 December 2007 (MST)

akuryotaisanmanga.jpg Akuryo Taisan in the original manga. --Silver 19:31, 31 August 2009 (MST)

In act 36, when Rei is being attacked by Tiger's Eye she uses Akuryo Taisan and even untransformed she seems to be creating the ofuda out of a fiery aura between her hands O-o I think in the anime she carries the ofuda with her but it's true that in the manga the Senshi seem to have more powers related to their elements even in civilian form (Ami's dowsing abilities for example) so...
Anyway, in my opinion Akuryo Taisan looks like she is charging power in her hands (whith a fiery appareance, of course) and then shooting the energy which sets the target on fire. Because when she uses the attack on Zoisite and then Queen Metalia it just doesn't happen anything, but if it were a fireball attack, we could at least see fire reaching the enemy.--Silver 17 04:57, 26 July 2009 (MST)

Well, in Act 7 we can see a fireball thingy between her hands:

Even tho it's not literally ball-shaped, it definitely looks like a cluster of fire. --210 01:16, 20 December 2012 (MST)

PGSM Akuryo Taisan image?[edit]

Not a screenshot, but it's in HQ

I'd prefer a screenshot whenever possible & its quality is acceptable. --210 22:09, 31 August 2009 (MST)
Same here, but I couldn't find any good screenshot. --Silver 22:12, 31 August 2009 (MST)
