Talk:Sailor Moon in Hungary

The Senshi names are inconsistent in the article— should it be "Hold Tündér" or "Hold tündér" or "Holdtündér"? Only one of those formats needs to be used, instead of all three at varying times. Kerochan no Miko 21:01, 12 June 2011 (MST)

All three are used by Hungarian fans. It may have to do with "Sailormoon" being one word in the French version, from which this version was based off of, but they are separate words in the Hungarian language.
That makes sense. We need to pick only one to be used for the sake of the article, though - I don't speak Hungarian, so which should it be? Kerochan no Miko 13:35, 24 November 2011 (MST)
Hard to answer because these names were made up by the franchise so no grammar rules could be safely applied, plus there were no official translations here in printed media, only the Semic Interprint stuff. Without going much into Hungarian grammar and spelling rules here but definitely taking them into account, I'd argue they aren't separate words in Hungarian (at least it's not evident by any means) and instead my best guess would be the "Holdtündér", "Merkúrtündér" etc. The anime comics used these as well but then again, they're still debatable. Well, since we need to pick one, the fact that the anime comics used that format is good enough for it to be what we use here. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 15:26, 11 May 2015 (MST)
Correction: the anime comics used the versions with a dash ("Mars-tündér"). As a spelling and grammar freak I'm pretty sure these are incorrect (and the comics had other troubles as well, choosing between the naming conventions of the Japanese and the French versions). On the Hungarian wikipedia, the pages of Ami, Rei and Setsuna use the names as separate words ("Mars tündér") while Haruka, Michiru, Usagi, Makoto and Hotaru use the single word option ("Szaturnusztündér"). On the episode name listing page, the episode titles given by the TV channel give the names as in "Mars tündér", but in the episode title with Sailor Moon it's "Holdtündér". The name of Sailor Moon seems to be exclusively written as a single word everywhere (wikipedia, Hungarian Sailor Moon wiki, episode titles), but for the other senshi, Google gives more results to the two-word format. The Hungarian Sailor Moon wiki also uses the latter, even though it's completely inconsistent with the single word naming of Sailor Moon. (Aaand I have officially no life putting this much effort into something so trivial.)

Different phrases?[edit]

I checked all episodes in which Moon Prism Power was used and it seems it had 12 different phrases in total... should they be included here as well? Ranmatanma (talk)

Why should they not be? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 13:58, 30 July 2020 (EDT)
