Ail and An are seen in the Makaiju, as she tells him about the flower gazing. An explains it's a banquet held at the time by the inhabitants of the planet, and that she heard they spent a lot of energy. Ail says that that kind of flowers used to blossom in the time their clan was on power, and, after thinking about it, smiles and says they'll going to get plenty of human energy.

On the flower gazing, Usagi, Ami, Makoto, Minako, Rei, Naru, Natsumi and Ms. Haruna are seen walking in. They soon meet Umino, who's sitting under a cherry blossom tree, and claims to have been here since the night after, as a duty for everyone and for Naru. They all have lunch, with Usagi and Rei fighting over it.

After lunch, Natsumi sees Seijuurou, who's standing behind a tree and looking at Usagi. She goes to talk with him; after some discussion, they both turn to their true forms. An picks one of the Cardians, which Ail summons with his flute.

Naru and Umino are talking when they see a black and flowerless tree emitting a strange energy. As they step back, they are engulfed by the same energy. A blast of light is seen through the trees. Ms. Haruna arrives and finds the couple on the ground, unconscious. A mysterious woman appears behind the teacher, who pleads for help. The eyes of the woman slowly become red, and Ms. Haruna's scream is heard while another blast of light shines.

Later on, Usagi, Luna and Artemis are on the ward of the flower gazing, looking at the unconscious Ms. Haruna, while a doctor examines Umino and Naru. The doctor says they'll going to be all right, but expresses his preoccupation with the large number of people who are been carried there, which makes Luna and Artemis suspicious. Outside, they tell Usagi that the people might have had their energy stolen, and the trio agrees on going to the place where the other Senshi are investigating.

Ami, Minako, Makoto and Rei are next to the place where Ms. Haruna was found unconscious. Rei feels an evil aura; as the Senshi look, they see the black tree, now showing a Cardian as part of it. As the Cardian open its eyes, all the girls are engulfed in the blast of light. Not far from there, Usagi and the cats hear their screams. Usagi turns to Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon arrives to see the girls's energy being taken by the tree. The Cardian emerges from the tree and jumps on the girl, who barely avoids being hit. Again, Sailor Moon tries attacking with her tiara, but it doesn't work. The girls scream for Sailor Moon not looking into the Cardian's eyes, but, as they say that, the Cardian jumps on Sailor Moon again, hitting her and pinning her to the ground. Sailor Moon can't avoid looking into the eyes of the Cardian, and she is also engulfed in energy. Sailor Moon's brooch shatters, and she turns into Usagi again. The Cardian raises and its arms turn into trees. Usagi struggles to escape the energy field, but starts to drown in it, as if the earth was water. Unable to see Usagi drowning, Luna runs to her and tries to pull her out, but both the cat and the girl drown entirely.

The Makaiju shines, and its leaves start to live again; Ail and An tell the Cardian Reci to get more energy. Usagi and Luna are seen slowly falling in a depth full of bright; in thoughts, Usagi asks why she can't transform, and Luna tells her she won't be able to transform or use Moon Tiara Action while she wishes to be a normal girl. Usagi awakens to find Luna in her arms, unconscious; while she looks, Queen Serenity reveals herself. Usagi pleads to save everyone. Queen Serenity asks for her brooch. When Usagi shows it, a shine takes them to the Silver Millenium palace, and the Silver Crystal is shown to her.

Queen Serenity tells her that her desire of saving her friends protected the Silver Crystal. The Crystal then merges with the brooch; the queen warns her that the power of the Crystal is not as strong as before, but she is convinced that, one day, Usagi's desire of saving her friends and everyone else will bring the true power of the Crystal again. Queen Serenity them tell her to say: "Moon Crystal Power, Make Up". Usagi does so, and turns into Sailor Moon again.

On the flower gazing, all the Senshi are stuck on the tree, and Artemis is fighting alone against Reci. The moon appears; Sailor Moon emerges from the ground. Reci starts fighting against Sailor Moon, who finds herself against a tree and defenseless. Suddenly, a white rose is thrown against the Cardian: the Moonlight Knight appears. He tells Sailor Moon she's the only one who can save everyone; when he does it, Sailor Moon hears the queen's voice, and a rod falls from the Moon. Sailor Moon is told to use it to ignite the flame of hope in the future. As the Cardian attacks again, Sailor Moon performs the attack Moon Princess Halation, and Reci is turn to a card again, which blackens.

After, Sailor Moon helps everyone, who thanks her. Sailor Moon gives a last glance to the Moon and thanks Queen Serenity, who is briefly seen before a rain of petals starts falling.
