Sailor Moon S: Jougai Rantou!? Shuyaku Soudatsusen was a 2D fighting video game for the Super Famicom console, which was developed by Angel and Bandai and was released by Angel in Japan on December 16, 1994. It is sometimes referred to as the "Sailor Moon S Fighting Game."

The gameplay was similar to that of the Street Fighter games, in that two Sailor Senshi fought each other using both physical and magical attacks. Each Senshi had their own set of special magical attacks, some of which were invented for this game. The techniques were performed by a combination of buttons. Battles were won by dealing the most damage.

All of the Solar System Senshi except for Sailor Saturn were playable characters. There were four modes: practice, tournament, versus and story mode. In each mode, the basic gameplay was the same. In versus and story mode, the player could customize the abilities of the chosen Senshi by distributing points among six ability scores.

In practice mode, no damage was counted. In tournament mode, eight players fought in a knock-out tournament, with 1-8 players being human and the rest computer-controlled.

In versus mode, the player could fight one duel against another person or the computer. The player chose which Senshi should fight each other. It was possible to match a Senshi against herself; in this case, one of their sailor fuku would be a different color.

In story mode, the plot was that the Sailor Senshi were fighting to choose a new leader. In this mode, only the Inner Senshi and Sailor Chibi Moon were playable characters. The player had to defeat the other eight normally playable Senshi to win in this mode. If the player succeded, the title screen would change to display the silhouette and the name of the victorious Senshi. Tuxedo Mask appeared in the "Continue" screen if the player lost a duel. When the player won, the main screen would change the silhouette and part of the title ("セーラームーン", meaning Sailor Moon) to reflect the player's character.

There were ten different stages in this game, including one hidden stage. They each had a different background, but the backgrounds did not affect the gameplay. Some of them were generic, and some were from the anime, such as:

  • A secret stage could be accessed by holding L + R + X on controller 1 as the game was starting up and until the player chose their preferred Sailor Senshi in the character selection screen. Pressing the left button while highlighting last option on the screen would allow the player to access the "Developers' Cubicle" stage, with the developers spectating and cheering on the fight in the background.
  • Artemis had lavender eyes in this game.
