Shine Aqua Illusion was an attack used by Sailor Mercury in all Sailor Moon continuities.

This attack first appeared in episode 62 of the anime, when Sailor Mercury used it against the Droid Nipasu. During the attack, droplets of water spun around her, who then collected them in her hands, sending the water forward toward her target. Not only could this attack damage an enemy, it could also freeze them in a block of ice, giving Sailor Moon or another Sailor Senshi time to attack.

In the manga, Sailor Mercury used this attack for the first and only time against Koan's Droids in Act 15. It seemed effective against the Droids, but was unable to extinguish the flame barrier in which Sailor Mars had been trapped.

This attack first appeared in Act 9 of the live-action series, when Sailor Mercury used it against Nephrite. She used it only three times, including once to put out a fire. To perform the attack, Sailor Mercury crossed her hands in front of herself, then lifted her left hand in the air while the other was held out at her side. She then lowered her left arm while lifting the right as she called out the name of the attack. She quickly pulled her arms in then lifted both hands, pointing her right hand at her target as she fired off the attack.

Shine Aqua Illusion appeared in the very first musical, Sailor Moon - Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen, where it was used against Zoisite.

This attack was also used in the video games Sailor Moon R and Sailor Moon: Another Story. In Another Story, it appeared as a large wave of water.

Trivia

  • This attack was called "Mercury Ice Storm Blast" in the first English dub, but as of episode 69 of the dub, when a new writing team took over, its original name was used instead.
