"Juuban Public Hall"? According to my dictionary 公民館 translates as "community center" which makes a whole lot more sense for a building name. I suggest the article be moved to "Juuban Community Center" accordingly, and I question the need for a separate article called "Juuban Hall." Kerochan no Miko 13:22, 13 February 2011 (MST)

a) The English translation used in the anime by ADV is "Juuban Public Hall", beneath the sign with the kanji. The Google translation of "Public Hall" gives 公民館 as the 2nd possible translation, which satisfied me. However, I agree that Juuban Community Center is a better name, because:
b) Juuban Hall is a completely different building. The play is rehearsed at Juuban Public Hall but performed at Juuban Hall, so the ADV translation causes some confusion. Juuban Hall also appered in episode 16; the wedding contest is being held there.
Also, sorry for the redirecton links. --Morinden 13:44, 13 February 2011 (MST)
Okay, more evidence for ADV having a crappy translation in general. Yeah, I've never seen anyone use "public hall" to describe a building; it's much more often a "community center" and I'd prefer the translation actually make sense. Do you have the kanji for "Juuban Hall" or a screenshot, by chance? Kerochan no Miko 14:04, 13 February 2011 (MST)
Hm. It actually looks like the building in episode 16 is not the same one that the play was in in this episode. The building in episode 56 was pretty clearly Juuban Hall, but this was the name of the building in episode 16. So it looks like we need a "Juuban Hall" article for the building in episode 56 and one with a different title for episode 16 - "Juuban Meeting Hall" or "Assembly Hall" maybe? Thanks for checking the kanji, and sorry yet again for giving wrong information about the two Juuban Halls ( I got that info from the Oracle, though I would have checked the kanji if I were to write the Juuban Hall article ). Even more unneeded confusion added by the translation.
To answer your question, Warriors of Legend says that the Hall from episode 16 is based of a real building in Azabu-Juuban, which the book calls "Azabu-Juuban Assembly Hall". So "Assembly Hall" would be a good choice.--Morinden 07:40, 14 February 2011 (MST)
Yeah, the building in episode 16 could definitely be called "Juuban Hall" (in fact, when I showed the screencap to a friend who's a Japanese translator that's what she wanted to call it, too) so there's definitely potential for confusion there. ^^; I hadn't thought to check WoL; that's a really good point, so we'll go with "Juuban Assembly Hall" for that one, "Juuban Hall" for the building with the play, and "Juuban Community Center" for this one? Or more literally, "Juuban Community Hall" for this one. I've no particular preference for either, tho - just offering an alternative for you to consider. --210 01:51, 15 February 2011 (MST)
"Community Hall" is something I've never really seen used in English, though; "community center" is much, much more common and I'm more interested in clarity of understanding than literal translations. Kerochan no Miko 03:11, 15 February 2011 (MST)
I've checked Google that there're official names using "Community Hall" before I offered that alternative here, tho I wasn't sure which one is more commonly used - if you, as a native speaker, say that "community center" is, then certainly we'll go w/ that. --210 09:28, 15 February 2011 (MST)
You have my vote. Maybe we could then use the Disambig1 template between Juuban Hall and Juuban Assembly Hall, and a trivia note about the ADV translation of Juuban Community Center. --Morinden 07:37, 15 February 2011 (MST)
That certainly should be done, too, after their articles are created. And I think it's time to propose moving this article to "Juuban Community Center", as per the above discussions. --210 09:28, 15 February 2011 (MST)
