Initial Setup of WikiMoon Web

Let's discuss categories and setup.

First, we're not going to allow individual pages for general websites, rather the pages here will just be a list of links to the sites themselves. The only pages that get individual descriptive pages for them are those listed in Editor's Choice, or in a section that has to do with important sites to the fandom's history. (E.g. Starfox's Sailor Moon page.)

Second, we're going to want to set the categories up in a way where it complements what would be on the "Links" section of a page. So we'll be removing the list of links in the main namespace (e.g. no more "Links" at the bottom of the Sera Myu page), and instead referring people to visit "Sera Myu Links" here at WikiMoon Web. The top five or so links on a page could be what we'd normally put in the Links section of a main namespace page.

Thoughts as to what the list of categories (and perhaps subcategories) should be?

We also need to begin writing the rules for WMW.--WikiSysop 23:08, 12 January 2007 (MST)

Hmm. Categories. Editor's Choice, Multimedia (image galleries, music), Fandom (with subcategories for fanart, fanfic, amvs, fanlistings, character/seiyuu shrines &c), Information (with subcategories for anime, manga, musicals, pgsm). And maybe a category for important sites that once existed and now don't. Kerochan no Miko 23:16, 12 January 2007 (MST)
Just a reminder that we've had a past discussion about it for ref. --210 02:23, 13 January 2007 (MST)

So... what should be done with this project? I'd love to help, I just have no idea where to start working.
If we're still discussing the categories, I think the ones KnM suggested sound good enough. Elanorea 05:29, 15 April 2007 (MST)

I created a page layout based on the front page of the main site (just so there's something other than "test"), with the discussed categories listed - I was thinking that in each box we could include a description of the category and a link to the main subpage for that category, and maybe the top five popular links (is there a script that could automatically update that...?) but this might be unnecessarily complicated. Maybe we should just have a table of links instead and let the subpages describe the categories? Ideas? Kerochan no Miko 06:39, 15 April 2007 (MST)

This layout is good. I think we should start it simple & make it more complicated progressively should the need arise in due course. Hence, I lean on just having a table of links at this stage. --210 07:09, 15 April 2007 (MST)

I simplified the layout a little, and I think I'm going to start on the category pages now. Once those are figured out, and we get some rules established for the project, I think we should be ready to start. I'm currently aiming at launching this section on the one-year anniversary of WikiMoon (May 13). Also, if anyone can figure out why the top bar renders just fine in Firefox and not in IE, suggestions are welcome. :P Kerochan no Miko 06:53, 16 April 2007 (MST)

I dunno. The only thing I'll point out is that on the main page, the left side has those items so it's not supposed to be centered. That might have something to do with it.--WikiSysop 12:10, 16 April 2007 (MST)
I can get it to work in either Firefox or IE, but not both. It's mildly aggravating. Kerochan no Miko 12:26, 16 April 2007 (MST)
