Tamasaburou was a character who appeared only in the anime. He was a tea ceremony master on whom Chibiusa developed a crush in episode 104. She intially saw him in the street and, thinking him cute, tried to follow him, but lost track of him. When she, Mamoru, and Usagi were later invited to a teahouse by Haruka and Michiru, she discovered he was a tea ceremony master. She later tried to return to a teahouse, dressed in a kimono, in an attempt to become his apprentice. At that time, he was attacked by Eudial for his Pure Heart Crystal, and Sailor Chibi Moon tried to defend him; with the help of Sailor Moon, she managed to save him from a Daimon. Tamasaburou saw them do this after Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune returned his Crystal, and was inspired to crossdress as "Sailor Tamasaburou," mimicking Sailor Moon's postures. At that point, Chibiusa decided to not become his apprentice after all.

Trivia[edit]

  • In the Cloverway dub, Tamasaburo was changed to become a girl. Fans believe this was because he crossdressed at the end of the episode, and had an overall feminine appearance. Despite the sex change, her name in the dub was still Tamasaburo, which has the kanji word "rou" (郎; son) in it.
  • He was also changed to be a girl in the Spanish dub. At the end of the episode, "she" proclaimed "herself" to be "La Guerrero de los Buenos Modales" (The Warrior of Good Manners), mimicking Sailor Moon, who called herself "La Guerrero del Amor y la Justicia" (The Warrior of Love and Justice) during her introduction in the Spanish dub.
  • His sex was also changed in the Polish and Russian versions, though in the latter Chibiusa initially mistook him for a young man.
