Luna and Artemis, still in bandages from Malachite's attack on them, see a news report on strange sunspot activity and gather the girls at the Cherry Hill Temple. The girls ready themselves for their final fight against Queen Beryl, who they are well aware will be their hardest opponent. They transform together, and as they do, Artemis and Luna discuss if the Sailor Scouts are really ready to fight Beryl. Artemis is confident in most of the girls, however he does voice concern over Serena. The girls then teleport as near to the Negaverse entrance as they can get.

Queen Beryl's crystal ball tells her the Sailor Scouts have arrived, and she calls upon her minions, asking who among them is willing to fight the Scouts. The Doom and Gloom Girls offer to do so, and head off. Meanwhile, the Scouts are making their way toward the Negaverse when Sailor Mercury notices there is a lifeform up ahead. When it comes into view, and appears to be a bound and beaten Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Moon is determined to rescue him, even though the other Scouts warn her that it is probably a trap. Tuxedo Mask begs for her help, and Sailor Moon can't stand seeing the man she loves in that state, so she heedlessly runs toward him. Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Jupiter pin her to the ground despite her complaints.

The Tuxedo Mask illusion turns back into a Doom and Gloom Girl; she joins the others, and together they create an illusion of Andrew. Sailor Jupiter falls for the trap and is caught up in their vines. Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars begin to perform Moon Tiara Magic and Mars Fire Ignite, but cannot finish these attacks as the Doom and Gloom Girls get too close to Jupiter. Sailor Jupiter attacks with Jupiter Thunder Crash, but the monsters trap her in the Negaverse.

Sailor Moon is distraught and says that she wants to give up, because the Silver Crystal is not worth losing her friends, but the others say Sailor Jupiter wouldn't want that. Sailor Mercury hears something and tells Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Venus to keep going, while she takes care of whatever the Doom and Gloom Girls have planned next. Once alone, Mercury sees an image of Greg in front of her; instead of falling for the trap, she scans it with her VR Visor which reveals it to be a Doom and Gloom Girl. They send a large lava flow toward Mercury, but she manages to stop it with Mercury Bubbles Blast. The Doom and Gloom girls trap her inside a red orb of energy and bind her. They ask her where the other Scouts went, and she claims they were scared away. The Doom and Gloom Girls call her bluff and plan to use her mini-computer to find the others, then trap her in the Negaverse.

Sailor Moon senses this and collapses to the ground, horrified. Sailor Venus notices that the ground below Moon is glowing, and pushes her away just in time to be grabbed by a Doom and Gloom Girl herself. Sailor Moon says she'll use her tiara to get Sailor Venus free, but Sailor Venus orders Sailor Moon to save her energy, and then is pulled into the Negaverse. Once there she manages to destroy one of the Doom and Gloom Girls with Venus Crescent Beam Smash. Sailor Mars realizes what she is up against and tells Sailor Moon that she thinks Sailor Moon is meant to face Beryl on her own. Even though Sailor Moon suggests that they leave and come back when they're stronger, Sailor Mars goes to face the last of the Doom and Gloom Girls, who trap her in an ice structure. Even though she manages to defeat them with Mars Fire Ignite, she is still trapped in the Negaverse.

Seeing that her enemy is alone, Queen Beryl uses her magic to bring Sailor Moon to the center of the Negaverse. When she arrives, Sailor Moon meets Beryl and sees Prince Darien kissing Beryl's hand. Beryl instructs the Prince to fight Sailor Moon, who attempts to use Moon Healing Activation on him, but fails. Beryl says even Sailor Moon's crystal cannot break her spell on the Prince. The Prince fights Sailor Moon and manages to knock Sailor Moon to the ground, and the Crescent Moon Wand falls out of her hand. Queen Beryl tells him to retrieve it and to do away with Sailor Moon, but Sailor Moon hits him with a Moon Tiara Magic attack to the stomach.

Queen Beryl tells Sailor Moon that it's useless to try and turn the Prince against her as his mind belongs to her now; Sailor Moon tells the Prince that Beryl may have his mind, but she has his heart. She begs the Prince to remember her, and shows him their locket. He begins to remember and, when instructed by Sailor Moon, touches the locket and is purified. Beryl is horrified and throws a large crystal shard towards the lovers, but Prince Darien shatters it with a rose. The rose pierces Beryl's chest, but Prince Darien is wounded by the flying shards. Beryl sinks through the floor, and Prince Darien promises to find his way back to Serena one day.

Queen Beryl asks the Negaforce how she could defeat Sailor Moon. It reprimands her, but gives her one last chance, and merges its energy with Beryl. Queen Beryl reappears outside in a larger and stronger form, and is soon approached by Sailor Moon, who is ready to fight her. Beryl hurls a powerful energy attack at Sailor Moon; the force of it encases her in a huge ice structure, but she shatters the top, transforming it into a platform as she turns into Princess Serena. Princess Serena readies her crystal, determined to defeat Beryl. Meanwhile, back in Crossroads, the power goes out in the entire city. Serena's family worries about her, and Luna and Artemis notice the drop in temperature and realize that Beryl must be defeating the Sailor Scouts. Luna calls out to Sailor Moon, begging her not to let the Negaverse win.

Back at the Negaverse, Princess Serena somehow hears Luna's message and directs her Cosmic Moon Power attack at Beryl, who also attacks in turn. As the two attacks clash and struggle against each other, the other Scouts manage to contact Princess Serena and ask to help. All the Scouts appear around the Princess and add their powers to hers, and that last attack creates a massively powerful energy beam that obliterates Beryl completely.

Some time later, everything has returned to normal, and Serena awakens once again late for school. As she rushes out the door, Luna and Artemis discuss the events of the battle, and mention that in the battle the girls all lost their memories of being Scouts and friends. Artemis says that all they have to do is meet up and become friends again for the memories to return, and Luna asks what has become of Serena and Darien.

Darien is in a hospital where Serena is volunteering and visiting patients. Serena tells him he was in an accident and that she has come to cheer him up. He tells her he thinks her hair is weird and looks like meatballs, and she takes great offense at this.

Episode trivia[edit]

  • This was originally two episodes, however both were heavily edited for content leaving only one, less violent, episode in their place. This was the only instance in the first English dub in which two episodes were merged into one episode.
